Fic: Explain

Stargate/Sanctuary fic.

Title: Explain
done for the gen fic x-over flash fic post. here

“Magnus,” says Will, his voice low and urgent. “She has your face.”

Kate holds a cold pack to her newly bruised cheek. She’s slouching on the nearest bed, her pride a little rattled, for she snorts in a slightly bitter kind of way and says,

“No shit, Sherlock.”

Helen says nothing; she merely continues to check the IV. Samantha Carter is burnt and unconscious and cuffed with one hand to the rail. She fought hard against the anthropod, she fought harder when she woke up in the back of Helens van, swaddled in bandages and drugged for the pain. In Helens eyes, she’d conducted herself like someone who had year’s long practice in escaping. Except, when she’d stood with Kate’s gun to Wills head and glared Helen down, she hadn’t been prepared for Henry’s wide range stunner. None of them had. The aching behind Helen’s eyes, and behind Will and Kate’s, is testimony.

“If you could check that the creature is secure?” She says, turning to Will. She doesn’t doubt Henry’s skill, but words must be said, and they are the kind said better without an audience. He gets her meaning immediately, and she smiles when he says,

“Sure,” and gestures Kate to follow.

Kate rolls her eyes. “I've got a date with the Big Guy anyway.” She grins crookedly at Helen and trails out the door after Will.

Helen does a once over on her patient, and then sits down on the nearest chair and waits. It doesn’t take Nikola long to appear, wine glass in hand. No doubt he got the story from Henry within their first half hour home and was up until now working out his plan.

“Well, well, what have we here?” He says, his usual superior attitude draped about him like a cloak.

“You don’t recognise her?” She says, eyebrow arching.

He laughs, and then stops when he sees she is not. He knows for all his schemes, he can’t play this game with her, not today. Instead he says,

“She’s not nearly as pretty as I expected.”

Helen snorts and then sighs. “She’s going to want answers.”

“I would too, If I were a clone.” He shrugs.

He was silent and watchful, his eyes never leaving her face. She averted her gaze and looked out the window. The trees were green and greener and went too fast for her to see. She felt dizzy and squinted against the light. It was dull and white and too, too bright, the sky a suffocating blanket of grey. It was pressing down on her, pushing her out as it pushed itself in, mocking and heavy and silent

"Hey." Vala jumped as Daniel's voice pulled her back to her body. "You're safe now."

"Yes," she said and tried to breathe. Her breath caught and she gasped. Their concern was like a weight. Pressing, cloying. She didn't want it, didn't need it. She tried to imagine herself part of the landscape going by. It was no good. She was anchored to the present. To the stuffy air and plush seats and the people crowding in. Vala said nothing more the whole way back to the mountain.

They traded grey sky for grey walls and ceilings and corridors of buzzing light. The humming of electricity, activity. She knew this. She knew the smell and sense of weight and urgency, emergency. The lights flashed. Incoming off-world activation. People rushed by or walked past. Guns and clipboards, green and black, white and blue. The movement made her dizzy. She was flanked every step of the way. Daniel by her side. Teal'c at her back. Sam just near enough to touch, and Cameron led the way. Down, down, down in the elevator, the numbers blurred together.

She panicked when Dr. Lam told her to lie down.

"I'm fine, really," she said, her hands shaking. "I just need a moment."

She tried not to remember before. Before in a chamber of gold on gold. Before on a bed, a goddess wed. Before when she spun away from everyone, the galaxy her own, her mind a wreck.

Daniel tried to hold her. She pushed him away and cried, silently. He let her go and she was free and falling and the floor was cool. She breathed in, she breathed out. She was herself. No one else. No one else. And she was sheltered. Because Daniel was terse and Cam was blunt and Teal'c was a tower and Sam sat down and held her hand and the nurse went away. And Dr. Lam, eventually, shook her head and let them be.

In and out. Up and down. Light and dark. The masses cower below her. Her Jaffa, loyal and strong. On the deck of her Ha'tak, the world below a rain of fire. On her throne, ordering an execution. In her lab, overseeing the tablet. Athena, the fool. Ba'al, laughing. A hand on her arm. A staff blast. Glowing eyes. The thrill of pleasure. A dead child. The Tok'ra. A device at her neck. The villagers, their stones. The hit. The fall. She runs and runs and runs and runs and -

Vala woke, breathing hard. She heard the dull thud of footsteps, the beep of some machine, people talking. She opened her eyes.

"Hey," Daniel said. He stood at the end of her bed. Sam stood to his right and Teal'c next to Sam. Cam sat in a chair next to her.

"Hey," she said, trying to regain her composure. "How long was I out?"

"About ten hours," Daniel said.

"We were getting worried," Sam said.

"Oh." Vala wasn't sure why they would be. Had she overslept and missed something? A few moments of silence passed.

"I'm glad you're ok," Daniel said.

Cam shifted in his chair and winced. "We all are," he said, face pinched.

Vala frowned. "I'm sorry about your arm," she said.

He waved off her apology. "Not your fault. I'm just glad you're alright. Besides, you patched me up."

Sam smirked.

Cam glared at her. "Would you let that go?"

Sam shook her head, grinning.

"What?" said Vala.

"Cam's always losing his pants," said Sam. Daniel did a very bad job of stifling a snort.

Cam was not amused. "It was twice! Geez."

Vala considered the golden opportunity before her. "When was the first time?"

Cam groaned. "Oh, no," he said.

"Oh, yes," Sam said, and pulled up a few chairs. "Anyway, in an alternate reality, a version of us found a way to use a black hole to create a multi-universal rift."

"Long story short, alternate versions of ourselves started showing up through the gate," Daniel said as he sat down on the empty bed next to hers.

"The strangest thing you ever did see." said Cam.

"It was a most surreal experience." said Teal'c.

"Yeah," said Sam, "Even for us."

Vala smiled. Tentatively, she allowed their story to take her away from herself and on to something better.

~fin.

The old house they’re renovating has the all the charm of the upper class 1880’s: grand sweeping staircases, magnificent rooms, gilded door knobs and of course, the most superb drawing room mirror ever seen. But soon things aren’t quite what they seem, Aremy hears voices, Janet sees figures in the dark, the music of the once crowded ball room permeates throughout the building. And the lonely girl that sits in the mirror, spelling out the doom set to befall them all.

Who is this girl?
the make a thingy meme

Cause I'm bored, and this looks like fun!

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

- What I create will be just for you.
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
- You will receive your item before the end of the year (or sooner).
- You will have no clue what the item is going to be. It could be a story or poetry. I may draw, paint, collage or photoshop something. I might bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to repost this meme (if you have not posted the meme already) and make and send out five surprises of your own.

ETA: 2ooth post! WOOT.

New Year and all that Jazz.

Happy New Year people!

Here's hoping to happiness and peace and less political bullshit in the year ahead!

What I did:
Watched fireworks from a hill at 9pm and big ones on the TV. Champagne is yum. And doing a random dance in a quiet and deserted street and shouting HAPPY NEW YEAR means something really awesome has changed in me. I could not and would not have done that last year. Health and personality, going up!

A minute of movies, review

Quantum of Solace.

a run down aka what I remember from two weeks ago:

shaky camera action scenes... not so hot
The entrance and awesome of M... YAY!
Chase scene over rooftops ending in broken glass... pretty good
Bond likes to kill people... not so hot.
Bonds all emo over Vesper... not so hot.
The introduction of the latest bond girl... kinda cool
The baddies plan, while sitting in the audience of a fucking cool looking opera, bond is clever, baddies get ID'ed... nifty
Bond needlessly pushes baddie henchmen off rooftop... *sigh* bad bond.
latest bond girl spills family story and then gets her revenge... yeah... nothing I haven't seen before.
Bond gets closure over vesper = dead bodies make bond happy. *loud sigh*
M cleans up his shit, makes with the snark and cleverness throughout the whole thing.... WIN.
In conclusion: Meh, with a side order of Blah. Except M.

Australia

Funny, touching, a little bit... naive. The idea of someone shooting and catching a kanga for supper while sitting on top of a moving veichle is lol-worthy. Seriously people, Kangaroos do not bounce about beside cars, they are smarter than that
It's tourist movie, with a good plot and nice characters. Nulla is teh awesome. I loved that cute little guy. And... it's a bit mystical and fantastical, which is ok by me. Side note: Darwin was actually bombed by the Japanese, and the government covered it up for about 40 years, which is pretty appalling, really. The rest is mostly fiction.

Fic: The First Nine Times

The Doctor bounds out of the Tardis, and there she is, all charm and a brilliant smile, a confident bounce in her step. A wave to Martha, and then her eyes do the exploring for her. She shakes Jacks hand, they size each other up, with neither like nor dislike. Jenny takes a shine to Mickey, they share details about their favourite Big Fucking Guns, respectively. Jack winks at her when the Doctor isn't looking. She rolls her eyes, but grins at him secretly when she leaves. A message shared. A dare.

The second time he sees her, she promptly starts flirting with him. Jack tries his best to reciprocate in kind, dancing between the Doctor's incredibly dark looks. She's sweet and young and sexy as hell. Despite the fact she beats the crap out of him in an impromptu fight. The Doctor's more than a little proud when she emerges mostly unscathed, while Jack has to lean on Gwen for support as she delivers him to a snickering Martha. That's the last time he brags about his strength and stamina, when GI Jenny's around, anyway.

The third time, it's in a crisis. The world's gone to shit thanks to some alien threat or other and the Doctor has to step in to stop the end of the earth, again. Nothing new there. But Jack finds himself taking orders from her. She knows more about military tactics then he would have originally thought. He can't quite fathom why he finds himself submitting to her. Is it the fact she's like the Doctor? That unflinching stare she sets on him? That utterly grim look of determination? He doesn't get a moment to think until after, and even then, he's too drunk and just relieved to give it much thought.

The fourth time, he's a 'temporary companion'. That's how the Doctor puts it, anyway. It's fine by him. Ianto gets to come along too, this time. Ianto and the Doctor take to each other like long lost best cousins or something; he's torn between protectiveness and jealousy. He's not quite sure who those feelings are for. Jenny doesn't say anything. Just stands at his side, looks from him, to them, to him again. A smile on her face.

The fifth time's brief, just a fuel stop, but he sees her on the security cameras. She waves, mouths the words: Hello Captain! And then pops back inside again.

The sixth seems to be a change of roles, maybe. Jenny wants to stay, take a look at this primitive little planet. She spends the whole day with the team. Jack goes out with Gwen and Mickey on a weevil hunt that night. Of course, Jack has to order her not to go after them and of course, she ignores him. When they get back, the list of injuries include a bruised arm, a broken rib, a knock to the head and very nasty scratch. Luckily Jenny only has to worry about the first one. Still, the Doctor borders on complete manic over-protection and cold disapproval. In a spare moment Martha manages to gently pry the Doctor away and give everyone a much appreciated break. But even she can't hold him for long, soon he's back; hovering over Jenny and glowering at Jack. By the time Jenny and the Doctor leave, Jack's pretty sure he's on the shit-list.

Seven means something new; for the first time, they're un-chaperoned, as Jenny says gleefully. She's managed to get herself a kind of space-hopper. It's much like Jack's wristcomm except possibly more unstable. In honour of this he decides to indulge in one of the more cliché of holidays, a road trip. He takes a whole week off.
Ianto eyes him calmly from the door of the Tourist Office as he leaves. 'Come back,' he says.
Jack nods once. "Yeah," he says, "I'll do that."
Ianto smiles slightly. "Have fun." Jack grins at him and turns toward a week of freedom.
He makes sure to leave his mobile number on his desk where Ianto can find it. Though, Ianto would already know it, Jack thinks. Still, it's a gesture. He waits for a call about some emergency or other the entire trip, but it doesn't ring.
London isn't a new city for Jenny, but Jack tries to take her to some new places on the way. It's summer, and the countryside of Wales and England seem to actually be getting to know the sun. It's all very relaxed; wine-tasting and farmers markets. If there's one thing Jack knows can seduce people, its food. Not that he's trying to do that, of course.
Jenny, on her part, enjoys it all; flirting and laughing and snarking with him non-stop. It's only on Wednesday night when they're both tired and sun burnt and tipsy on gin and tonic that it goes anywhere near serious.
They're slouching on a rickety couch in their little hotel room. A rather large pile of bags sits on one of the double beds. He had taken her to The Arcade in Manchester that afternoon; but it seems Jack was the one who got the most out of it. "Of course, it's nothing like the shops on Bandraginus 5 - that whole planet's like a shop," he says. "But I do like the idea of recycled clothes. Someone else had a whole adventure in those jeans." He gestures to the plastic bag. Jenny nods along, a little sleepy. He grins and continues. "Or a whole life. You can last decades in a good pair a trousers, you know. You don't really need any more then two. You just rotate them…" Jack trails off. "Hey, are you ok?"
"What? No. Uh, sorry. Clothes aren't really my thing." She yawns slightly and moves to take a drink. It's empty.
"Well, ok then," he says, and takes a sip of his own. He watches her pour another drink. She avoids his gaze.
"Are you ok?" he asks again. She doesn't answer for a moment as she takes another drink.
"No. I… No. I'm fine. I just. In a day or so, it's all over." She sighs.
"Yeah," says Jack. "It is almost over." He settles into the cushions a bit more and downs his drink dry. There's a brief heady sensation as the spirit goes straight to his head; he should have put the gin before the tonic, probably. He puts the glass down and takes her hand in his. She turns to look at him. "But we've still got tomorrow." He lowers his voice and waggles his eyebrows. She rolls her eyes and punches him in the shoulder.
"Ow!"
She just laughs. He moves to make retribution and she pulls him on top of her. They continue to fight, laughing and snickering and breathing raggedly in their alcohol cloud. And suddenly Jenny stops, and looks him in the eye, and kisses him. It's hard and clumsy and she tastes like gin and lemon and quinine. And he really, really shouldn't be doing this, but damn if it doesn't feel good. After a minute, they stop for air, panting. Jenny's eyes are as hard as her kiss was, like she's daring him to turn away, to make it awkward, to back down. So he stays, his legs tangled in hers, chest to chest, double heartbeats to a single staccato heart. For a time, their breathing is the only thing in the room. He wants to move. Wants to ask her, why? But he doesn't. He just watches her watching him. After minutes or seconds maybe, he can't tell, her expression shifts. Her eyes soften; she moves her hand to his face. Gently, almost attentively, she touches his cheek.
"Thanks Jack," she whispers, and smiles.
He smiles too. "You're welcome, Jenny." He's not quite sure what he's being thanked for, but he sees it's important to her, so he swallows his questions. He looks down at her chest and back up again. "So…" he says. It breaks the mood.
"So…" says Jenny, grinning at him. "Nice holiday, huh?"
"Mmm," he agrees, and then pauses when she turns her head slightly at the sound of quick footsteps outside the door.
"Uh HA!" comes a triumphant cry as the door opens, and then, "Jenny?" There is a general moment of shock as three people stare at each other.
"Uh, hi, Dad." The silence tears like a ripped piece of paper.
"Jack!"

The eighth time is a quite a few years down the line for both of them.
Jack notices somewhat sadly that this Jenny's a little less innocent, a little less baby-faced. She hasn't regenerated, just aged. He doesn't know whether to be disappointed or relieved. She still has that endless energy about her, though. Mixed with her usual casual arrogance and mega-watt smile, she laughs and flirts with the same temerity as the last time he saw her. This time they're not Earth-side, but on a 47th century space station beside the Coraii Nebulae. It's one of the more stunningly beautiful things he's ever seen. The viewing decks are tasteful and typically bland, but Jack appreciates the juxtaposition of the dull dark interior with the brilliant technicolour display beyond the shielding. The Doctor lurks somewhere, doing his best to respect Jenny's space. It's a little endearing.
"Finally got him under control," Jack says lightly, after the Doctor gracefully maneuvers himself in a different direction, artfully avoiding eye contact by pretending to be immersed in the nearest potted plant.
Jenny shrugs. "It's… developing. Everyone's got to grow up sometime, even me." And she turns back to the view. Jack nods.
Eventually, the Doctor joins them. He stands a little way to the side, ever a watchful presence, but not at all uneasy. The Doctor actually has a genuine, warm smile on his face. It's peaceful. The immortal, the Time Lord, and the hybrid. Three silhouettes against the splendour of the universe.

The ninth time he sees her Jenny swings by in her very own Tardis hybrid.
"A hybrid Tardis for a hybrid Time Lord," Jenny says, and embraces him. She steps back so he can see it. "What do you think?"
It's fairly normal looking, on the outside at least. Much like the Doctor's Tardis, it's a plain looking wooden box, with a windowed door on one side. And yet, there seem to be strands of metal peeking around the entrance, growing into the walls itself, like a a kind of metal vine.
"Cool," he says. Jenny is obviously pleased. "But, why emerald green?"
Jenny shrugs and says: "It was one of the colours, of the ball of light, the terra forming device, back when I was first born. When I died." Jack nods, remembering the story she told him, of being born to war and Messaline and Hath and getting shot in the chest.
"Huh," he says.
"So..." Jenny steps back and opens the door. "You ready for an adventure, Captain?"
Jack smirks and shrugs his coat closer.
"You bet, GI Jenny."
And he walks her in, and follows her to the future.

The End

-Jenny/Jack - attraction and/or love. any scenario is fine by me. Just as long as I get AT LEAST a kiss. Any rating big or small is great.-Doctor Who.

So... Repo! The Genetic Opera anyone?

It's a rock opera. The theme of which is sort of Rocky Horror meets Sin City, with a little bit of 'insert post-apocolyptic 'verse of choice here.'

I freakin love it, though. The songs, the characters, the backdrop, the story, the electric guitar. It's all good, people. And I haven't even seen the movie yet.
Check it out!
Official Trailer
Songs:
Zydrate Anatomy
Seventeen and yes, that is Anthony Stewart Head as Nathan Wallace. :D

---
Speaking of awesome things, my sis's party on saturday! We have about 30 people coming. It's horror movie themed. Perfect timing for buying shit considering halloween's the day before.

I have a black and red wig. And sexy black dress. Now if only I could find something horror movie-ish to put it together. Any ideas?
