thank you for sharing this<33 it feels like your poem found me at the perfect time, a reassuring hug.
this reminds me of the quote "What goes too long unchanged destroys itself. The forest is forever because it dies and dies and so lives" by Ursula K. Le Guin. transformation and change are scary, but they can also be beautiful, especially when it's hopefully on our own terms. lovely lovely poem!
Celeste, this made me tear up and I can’t even fully grasp why. Something about this felt so tragically beautiful and hit me right in the heart. You’re incredible and have once again proven how your words have healing qualities. Thank you for sharing your words 🤍
love love love this! the way you describe this internal grief while watching everyone else around you happy, thriving, and growing is such a complex feeling, and you write this beautifully through your imagery. i also love the way you really go into describing the body and your surroundings with nature. so tragically beautiful
celeste, this is so quietly devastating and so beautiful at the same time!! the image of standing in the shade while summer burns around you, of envying the trees for shedding without shame — i felt that somewhere deep and wordless.
what moves me most is the ending, like no rush, no performance, no need for anyone to witness the survival, just the quiet promise that spring comes on its own terms. you gave that gift to everyone reading this who is also somewhere in their own long winter!!
Awesome post! Lol we posted within an hour of each other just noticed that. As someone who doesn't mess with winter, spring is really a great time of year. Hears to it warming up and snow melting!
