Surprisingly the software does not let the service bureau review the taxable wage base used for each tax liability created i.e FIT, SIT, FICA, Medi, SUTA, disability, etc. Therefore it is impossible to audit for errors or even be sure that tax liabilites are created accurately. The system defaults tax status for many deductions but of course rules vary by state. There is no way to confirm that the tax treatment is accurate at the state level. Since Thomson sources the tax rules from an outside vendor they don't even know what is going on. Technical support has not been able to help because they can't access the rules either.
