Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express is a free and limited programing environment included with (but not limited to) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express, which is also a free and limited version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
Its commnly used for SQL Server Remote Administration, therefore you will be able to create SQL Server 2005 databases, stored procedures, create and run queries or views, create and restore database backups, among other tasks.
Since is free, is built with some limitations, for instance: It do not work with SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition, Cant run SQL Server 2005 Analysis, Integration, Notification and Reporting services.
Its "Look and feel" is similar to Microsoft Visual Studio, a must have tool for today´s developers, hence you shouldnt have any issues getting used to it.
There are some requirements to use it, obviously you need permissions for the sql server and database, your windows user account should have admin rights and your computer should be running Microsoft Net Framework 2.0 to start the program.
I use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express on my daily duties, believe me, this is one of the best free tool Microsoft have released, I highly recommend it
