I'm thinking since I've done this three years on the trot now that it's pretty much a tradition. Well, even if it isn't, I'm declaring it one right now.
Every New Year's Eve I make the obligitory post of resolutions. Then I don't revisit them until next New Year's Eve when I look back and see how well (or how crap) I've done. For the past three years I've done this - it sort of helps me sort out what I want to achieve and whether the goals I set myself are actually achievable within 12 months. Some are, some... aren't - it means I learn more about myself.
So, after all that waffle,
( here's what I set myself last year:Collapse )Looking back over the year, I think I've done pretty damn good. My room was done completely in September, with a lot of physio my back sorted itself out (and without having an operation thank god), and I've been walking more too. The swimming isn't happening so much because I have stupid self-confidance issues, but walking is good.
But if I jump back a year before that to 2008, these two crop up on that list:
4. Lose weight - Ah, the one that crops up on most people's lists. Without trying to jinx anything *taps wood* I think I've lost a little bit of weight in the last few months. Of course, clothes wise its not really that noticable. My trousers are just a bit looser around the waist. But I'd like to go down a dress size this year, from 18 to 16, and I don't really care if it takes me a year to do it.
[...]
1. Finish (or Start and complete) a Work In Progress fic - This one I'm carrying over for last year. Maybe if I do this, I might get the confidence for other things.
I'm happy to say that I
did drop a dress size this year. I'm back to a size 16 \o/ Without conscious effort too - I think moving jobs helped, mostly because there's nowhere to actually go out now for lunch where as my old place was in the city centre and surrounded by every fast food place you can imagine.
And this year I also finished and posted my first multi-chapter fanfic! You have no idea how proud I am of myself :D
So, what's my goals for 2011?
1. To do at least one thing on my bucket list2. To join a pilates class - the physio said pilates and yoga would be good for my back as the exercises strengthen the core muscles around the weak point. So next year I'd like to suck it up and join a class
3. To drop another dress size - this one is a bit... I don't think I will go down to a 14, not without some serious dieting, and that's not going to happen because I like food to much. But, it's there anyway.
4. Write the next arc in the More Than This 'verse - I still have all the ideas, it's just getting the muse back into the flow of things.
5. Work on original novel ideas - Because it's a dream of mine to go into a bookshop and see a book of mine on the shelf, pretty cover and all.
