I'm Stepping Back From Substack to Focus on Writing Books
Why I realized Substack wasn't worth sacrificing my real writing goals
Hello, Friend,
I’m keeping my post short this time. I’ve made the hard decision not to continue on Substack—at least for the time being.
I know you’re thinking, why does she keep coming and going? Let me explain. I love the community that Substack has here. I love the no ads and rarely any politics, and even one post or Note pops up, I mute and/or hide it.
But what I don’t like is that I haven’t grown.
I won’t grow much because I don’t have the time to devote to this like I need to do, posting at least once a week and posting daily Notes. And honestly, I’m not willing to sacrifice sleep or my book writing to make it happen.
Why I’m leaving Substack
I want to write books and create merch to go with those books, not worry about what I’m going to write for a Substack post.
I have started posting to my blog on my website again, but I’m not sure how long I’ll continue there either. The only good thing about it is people don’t have to create an account to see the content or feel like they have to join another site to see that content. My website content is there for all, and I can control that.
Where you can find me
So, if you like my content or want to keep in touch, I have some options for you, and these are my main focuses:
Website—I write a new blog post a couple of times a month.
Fourthwall membership/shop—It’s set up, and I will start posting there soon. The free membership does require you to sign up, but it’ll feel even more like a community. And I can get to know you even more!
Will I ever come back to Substack?
I probably won’t come back soon, but who knows. I do know I will change the content to more nonfiction, maybe like dog stories or beach-related topics.
I appreciate those of you who are here and have been reading my posts. Thank you!
