Don’t take too long

On February 8, 2018 By SimoneIn PoliticsLeave a comment

The Scottish Parliament is set to discuss the new Social Security legislation today. It feels like this has been a long process, I went to a meeting in Eastwood late 2016 to listen to Jeane Freeman talk about her hopes for the new system, the consultation process and timescales.

Lists and roundabouts

On February 6, 2018 By SimoneIn Politics2 Comments

This is a two part blog about how we have elections in Scotland. No I’m not going to bore you again about d’Hondt or STV, I’m going to bore you about something else… 😬

Yesterday the Green MSPs voted against the OBFA.  Since then I’ve seen a few SNP supporters tweeting Green MSPs saying they won’t get their second vote at Holyrood any more.

That’s how I described our media today. I actually think I was being kind.

3 “newspapers” ran the same front page story this morning, frothing that Nicola Sturgeon was hauling down the union flag and that the LGBT flag would be displayed more often.

Looking both ways

On January 24, 2018January 24, 2018 By SimoneIn Moods, PoliticsLeave a comment

Warning: Another “me” post, less politics than usual in it. Still some, I can’t get out of the habit.

This post has been lurking in my drafts for most of the month while I swithered over it. The last one was slightly personal so I may as well splurge and get it over with for the year.

#ThankyouSNHS

On January 23, 2018January 23, 2018 By SimoneIn PoliticsLeave a comment

These last few weeks it feels like we’ve been inundated with scare stories over the Scottish NHS. Some stories have been badly labeled, stating NHS without clarifying which one, others have been gross misrepresentations of statistics compiled from FOIs, opposition press releases or even a mix of the two. Fumbling along

On January 9, 2018 By SimoneIn PoliticsLeave a comment

It’s been a busy few days politically, so where to begin?

The big story was going to be the Cabinet shuffle. It ended up less of a shuffle, more a misdeal. Honestly just when you think the line up of the Cabinet can’t get any worse, May manages to do it.
