My offline computer died.
And I mean died died.
Blue screen of death turned into blue screen of mega death (boot-up) turned into blue screen of hyper death while trying to run Repair Mode.

(P.S.: For those of you who don't know what happened, Yesterday I tried to boot it and I was getting a driver error on bootup. It wouldn't go past the 2k Pro startup screen.
Repair mode tried to repair it but said the operating system was corrupted.
Tried it again and got some file table name that was corrupted (hence blue screen of hyper death).

Gone and will try to be forgotten.

Lost was:

- All the brushes I didn't have on Josh I
- Thirty-one hours of music, excluding what I have on Matt (MP3 PLAYER! =D). I went from almost six hundred songs to 260.
- All the fonts I didn't have on Josh I
- Every freaking thing I had done for Naruto Trifecta, including a fairly large collection of dresses for Mikuru and the prologue that took me like five years to write. XD
- Five pages worth of Script Frenzy! script
- A song for the above
- ALmost a year's worth of schoolwork (I WOULD'VE FINISHED TOMORROW!)

And probably a bunch more than that. >_<

I have no clue where my NaNo '09 came from.
I think one too many people in the Shoutbox on Subeta (NAMEDROP FOR HAX, CRIZTAL, CRYSATL AND MISCAST WHO JUST GAVE ME A BLACK ROSEBAND. <33) talking about Twilight let me to doing it.

The basic plotline is it's about a British girl named Rayen Antinanco who is unaware of the fact that her best friend is a vampire, and that she herself comes from a family of revolutionaries that hid vampires from the British government (kinda like the Ten Boom family hid the Jews from the Gestapo in Germany), so her best friend has to run away with her mom 'cos the government's tryin' to catch 'em, so she enlists in the help of a bunch of people (including a vampire named Ashley Weathers, who is smexeh and doesn't sparkle) to go find her and kick the butts of the British government.
IN A NUTSHELL, IT'S TWILIGHT + MISSING ABBY + THE HIDING PLACE IN A PACKAGE FULL OF SOMEWHAT AWESOMENESS.

TIESTO'S ELEMENTS OF LIFE = EPIC WIN.

So, random topic is random.
My dad is leaving his job because of his health, and he said when he did I would inherit his laptop.
Now, I never thought I'd really have a use for a laptop (I wanted one when I was like...seven, so I could play my Madeline games when my dad was at the doctor's. XD), but my grandmother is moving in (in) May.
SO. I love her and all, but I have a job at NeoLodge to do. :( I need interwebs to do it.
The laptop has wireless built in, so if I'm lucky, I'll inherit the wireless card with it.

I've already told him if he gives me an hour with it and it's officially mine, it won't be running Windows anymore. XD

First thing I would need to find out is if it'll work with the wireless card.
I'm already aware I will probably have to apt-get ndiswrapper to configure it. Not a big deal. I can always download the .deb files on here and then transfer them by floppy...OR if it doesn't recognize the external floppy, via Matt (my mp3 player).

Now, I have a problem.
It's only got like a...800mhz processor, so I probably won't be able to run Ubuntu (minimum is 700mhz. I don't like how close it is, and from what I'm hearing, I'll have problems with my AMD 2400 if I install the latest version [Intrepid Ibex]) unless it's U-lite (previously UbuntuLite), and I'm not even sure that would work.

So I'm looking into other distros.
The first one i thought of is PuppyLinux. It's mainly a LiveCD distro, but it can be installed on the hard drive.
It just sounds kinda confusing to me. XD

A harddrive can be divided in one or more partitions. If you create several partitions on a harddrive, each partition appears like a harddrive in the operating system. In other words: although you have only one harddrive in your PC, you will see several (virtual) hard-drives with Windows or Linux. Windows designates the harddrives (as well as the floppy disk drive and CD/DVD drive). In Windows they will be identified with letters. Usually A designates the floppy disk drive, C the harddrive (first partition), D the CD-ROM drive, E the harddrive (second partition), F the harddrive (third partition) and so on. Each partition has its own file system, Windows normally uses NTFS (Windows XP) or FAT32 (Win98, Win95).

With Linux the (first) harddrive is adressed as /dev/hda or /dev/sda. If your PC has a second harddrive, it is adressed as /dev/hdb or /dev/sdb. The partitions are sequentially numbered, starting with one. The partitions of your harddrive are adressed as /dev/hda1 (corresponds to the Windows C-partition), /dev/hda2 (corresponds to the Windows E-partition), /dev/hda3 and so on. Linux can work with different file systems such as ext2, ext3 or ReiserFS. These file systems are not readable by Windows. In addition Linux can work with Windows filesystems too. Due to this option a FAT32-Partition is ideal to exchange files between Windows and Linux.

Next option is Fluxbuntu, which is based off of Ubuntu, but runs Fluxbox instead of GNOME or KDE.
Unfortunately, the latest release is 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon).
Since then, Ubuntu and Canonical have released 8.04 LTS (meaning I gotta upgrade soon. XD), 8.10 (current), and they're working on 9.04.
So maybe by the time they release it, I can install.

Option number three...well, iunno. XD

The official verdict on Josh is that I'm going to have to run a LiveCD (I'll probably go with Knoppix), mount both my hard drive and MP3 Player (which'll be acting as a thumb drive for now), and then reinstall 2k Pro.
There's also a possibility of running chkdisk through the 2k Pro Recovery console. :D
SO JOSH ISN'T DEAD YET.

Aside from that, I've spent the past six days writing some really facked up fanfiction. XD
It's Kakashi and my Naruto fancharacter in modern times as...vigilantes.

PARTIALLY BECAUSE I COULDN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE FOR ABOUT FIVE MONTHS AND I FINALLY FOUND IT YESTERDAY AT WAL-MART. :[

As stated in my previous LJ entry, my offline computer (named Josh, for reasons only a few friends know -- but if you know me on Gaia, then you'll know why too. XD) took a dump. :(
I was going to try with last known good configuration, but I didn't like the way it sounded. Something along the lines of if you use this configuration, you'll lose your most recent system files.
I only had one profile to pick from, which is probably when 2k Pro was installed on Josh back in December 2007, so I didn't wanna take the chance. XD
So now my only option (mad love to my boss/grammie Georgie for bringing this up) is the repair mode on the 2k Pro CD.
However, and I'm gonna find this out today, I still need to know...

- Will it affect any of my files? (I wouldn't think so, but one can never be too sure. XD)
- How long will it take if I use fast repair? (I could do the manual repair if i had written down the name of the file[s] it had gien me when it booted up and told me "THERE ARE FILES THAT R CORRUPT. FIX EM. NOW. OR I WON'T WORK ANYMORE." (btw that's totally paraphrased. XD)

My problem IS, everything I'm finding is for the Recovery Console (plus I'm sure "sudo" will not be acceptable in said console. XD), and I have two problems.

1: You only have access to read from the floppy disk drive, CD-ROM drive, or other disc drive. This means you cannot copy information from the hard disk drive to another drive for backup. However, you can copy information from the CD-ROM or floppy disk drive to the hard disk drive.
2: After selecting the installation you will be prompted for the administrator password, enter the password exactly as you would in Windows. If you do not know the Windows administrator password you cannot enter the recovery mode.

Number one, every thing I've got that I need to back up is on the hard drive. :(
And number two...I don't think there is an administrator password. There's only one account, and i don't believe it has a password (or atleast I don't have to enter one on bootup).

Anyway, it seems that as soon as I got off the computer, my day began to suck profoundly.

Okay, as I stated, it started as soon as I got offline. :|
I turned Josh (which is my offline/graphics/play around) computer on, and he decided he was going to boot up without the video card drivers.
No big deal, he's done that before. Usually going into safe mode with VGA solves the problem.
It didn't. :(
After a couple of restarts, Josh quit booting up. He freezes on the "Windows 2000 Pro" start up screen. :(
I tried booting in safe mode, VGA mode, boot logging, et cetera. Nothing is working.
I'm officially freaking the hell out right now because I haven't backed anything up in a year (BECAUSE HE WAS RUNNING *FINE* UP UNTIL THIS POINT. D=) and my school work's last back up was April 2008 (and I'm almost freaking done).
I'm going to try booting with the last known good configuration, but it doesn't look good. :(
Geek Squad, for once I'm coming to you for help instead of making fun of the fact you pretty much don't know anything (I ask them Linux questions; lulz are abound with their answers).

And then, I think "okay, I'll just let JOsh cool off for a while."
So I go write that rewrite of my Naruto fanfic I've been meaning to (this doesn't have anything to do with entry #26. XD). Happily finish up something decent, so I'll put it on my dA today. :)
But then when I went to bed and looked in the mirror, I freaked out. Again.
Apparently I'm allergic to my new face scrub. Bad allergic. :(
My face is all red and ugly. It looked like I got sunburned, even if it's been cloudy and cold and suckish all week. XD

BUt there is one thing that made me feel better. <3

If you remember early on in Shippuden, Chiyo is introduced and she gives her life up to revive Gaara.
IT'S POSSIBLE that either Tsunade or Sakura will do this. I doubt Sakura, because we still gotta Sasuke and she has to profess her dying love to him (unless all those Kakashi/Sakura shippers know something i don't...btw, that's just WRONG. XD).
I am, however, strongly thinking Tsunade will, because she has already stated (during a conversation with Jiraiya) that he would be an obvious candidate for Hokage.
...but then you've got stupid Danzou. :(

That story's getting scrapped. THe three will still be in a story, but I gotta decide what it's going to be about.

And for Screnzy! and Gaia SuWriMos, I'm finishing off Love and Magic.
Screnzy! is going to be this OAV thing, and SuWriMos is going to be the third part.
And now we're back to NaNo.

...I fail to remember why I find this fun. XD
