Sol
eye of heaven
I flew too close to the sun
with smoke on my wings
chasing a heat
only fire-born creatures
can sing
forgive my short sight
Goldilocks is gone
I've burnt off the fear
kept the hunger
letting the scorch make me anew
because some of us
aren't meant for shade
we’re built to burn through
flames flitting furiously
fuelling a fear of life without
the burn
I've been set free
I can never falter
I'm now used to this
waxy, weightless way of living
I ground myself
palms open as Helios guides
my gaze towards
Sol
eye of heaven
justiciar of true light
I’m higher and warmer
than I’ve ever felt before
this light reveals
my highest selfThis was a collaborative poem! Here are the wonderful writers that contributed:
