So I got most of the shit off the hard drive and the ps2's been modded and I can stop fucking playing Actress Again, but this shit is so sweet, I don't even care about scanlations anymore. I picked up undubs of, like, every game I own and couldn't beat because the voice acting made me puke. I can't believe p3's only decent voice actor is Vic. VIC.

FFFFFFFFUUUUCK YEAH!

After posting about these books waaaay back in May, I just got these this weekend. My quest for the two seems to have been cursed, as the first copy was lost in the mail (after I was out $20 for it OTL). I could have given up after that, but unfortunately, the event only lit a fire under my ass, as having the book come so close got me really worked me up. In the end, I ordered them off a used book dealer through Rinkya, who I swear I will never be using again. See, I went with them over Crescent Shop, my usual deputy service, (gotta start stalking it for C76 stuff soon lawl) because the fees looked a bit cheaper. Little did I know that instead of charging a one time fee, they'd repeatedly add the same fee at many points of the transaction. Talk about a money sink! In the end I had to shell out $40 apiece for these books! That's, like, highway robbery! (rimshot)

So, was it worth it? Uh, HELL YEAH! Even though the story isn't a thing like I'd expected, it's full of sweet action scenes, something I've been mad craving for a while. There's just one, fairly major, problem with the series as a whole. See that second cover? I'm sure you're wondering why it's so different from the first. See, that's actually the sketch that was on the binding of the first volume. The reason? The story is unfinished, which is a major bummer since I was digging the hell out of the art. Wakako Oba, author, seemed to have released these and just dropped off the face of the planet. I can't find any other series by this guy/gal, no mention of them online, nothing.

It's kind of creeping me out, maaaaaaan. Does anyone have any info on this?

Making a post without ulterior motives. Sad to say, it is a feat above my skill level, but just this once, I will do it. For all of you. Because I love you thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much!

Winter semester finally ended and I got my grades back. Thankfully, even in the classes I thought I did poorly in, I got As! I don't especially understand the A I got in my web design class, but perhaps the instructor was feeling lax after being exposed to the average skill level in my class? I'm not saying this to be stuck up, either (you guys know I'm not confident in my design skills), but when you get classmates who design their final projects in PowerPoint.. well, you get the idea. As usual I felt let down, because I always enroll in these classes, hoping that at least one instructor will give me constructive criticism and tell me how to improve, but in the end everyone acts all impressed. And it's frustrating, really frustrating! Because I don't think I'm good, and I want to improve, but how am I supposed to do that when my skill level is above casual designers but no where near professional? Argh!

But back to the other classes- I was only worried about one, my computer programming II class. It'd been two years since I took the first part of the class, so when I went in my knowledge was pretty rusty. It turns out that the instructor's criteria for flowcharts (and class behavior even) have changed in the past two years, so I really had a hard time grasping the assignments. In the end, I ran out of time despite averaging two hours of sleep a night during finals week, and half my assignments went in without flowcharts. Even so, I ended up with a C+! Now, normally I hate getting anything below a B (even Bs irk me), but after worrying that I was on a failing path, it was such a relief. I'll still be retaking it, but for now, that grade was enough to tide me over. I just hate comparing myself to Mom (although I can't help it). Her transcripts are almost all As, all the way up to the Master's level. I feel like I've let her down so badly ;_; But enough of that depressing talk!

Also, kitare tagged me with Nagisa Kaworu almost a freaking month ago (I'm sorry ;_;) for a character meme, so here I go!

I don't dislike Kaworu at all, I'll start by saying that. But he does make me sort of uncomfortable in a way, mainly because you can never tell what he's thinking. Are there ulterior motives to his Shinji love fest? So more than liking, I guess you could say he intrigues me.

2. What name/s do you call this character?
I'm no good with nicknames! I always call him Kaworu, just because his name is so short, he doesn't need me pulling an Asuka,who I swear to God calls him homo in a drama CD.

3. What image-color do you associate with this character?
I could be a tard here and say blue, but honestly it's white and red for me. Mainly because of his physical appearance, but also because of his personality- he really has a great disposition, but the guy's true form is unfortunate.

4. What image-song do you associate with this character?

5. What blood-type do you think this character is?
I see Kaworu as an O, in part because he has the good personality of an O (to Shinji at least), but he seems to alienate others a bit.

6. Of all of the titles that this character appears in, what character do you like to put this character with?
Don't shoot me for saying this! Aside from the obvious Shinji (who had better chemistry with Kaworu than the rest of the girls, amusingly enough), I like pairing him with Rei. While she's really sort of a shell, personality wise, it's easy to see the similarities between the two. Datenroku's kind of tainted me in this regard, too, because I keep getting the impression that Kaworu is someone Rei would really look up to.

7. What would you want to say to this character?

Well, here's the thing. I got stuck into a subscription rotation with Fujisan, giving me Sylph on one month, Dengeki Moe OH on the next. And, well... the last issue I got was okay, but this one wasn't exactly up my alley thematically, so I want to know if anyone's interested in it. Here's the banner for this month's issue.

Included are some rather nice posters (which I almost want to take out and keep OTL), as well as the usual gallery including some prominent doujin artists. To break it down, Moe OH is basically a monthly artbook, so the quality is actually very nice (part of the reason I'm selling only one of the two issues). There's no way you'll find "ugly" images in here. As you can see in the banner, this month's furoku was a Dakimura, or hug pillow. I actually like the artist quite a bit, but that pillow is a little...

I'll post more images if anyone's interested. As for price, I'm looking at $15 for the magazine and $10 for the cover, but I can go for best offers too. Really, I just want to get that pillow out of the house.

By the way, does anyone know where I can crosspost this? I mean, I'm at a total loss OTL

DAMMIT, I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THESE STUPID SPINOFFS. LOLI LINA IS THE BEST THING EVER. LIKE.. LIKE POCKET LINA. But that's just my spazzed out way of saying I wasted my first day of spring break scanning shit. Tomorrow's the first day I get to sleep in since January! I miss not getting up to an alarm! Hooray! Anyway, there's a new Slayers spinoff with a really long title that doesn't make a lot of sense, it's Tsubasa Bunko Slayers: Lina to Chimera no Mahou Senshi. Of course, I'm awesome so I decided that the Tsubasa Bunko thing is part of the title, just because I'm the best. And oh God is this stuff fun to color...I can't stop. I mean, I've got three icons so far. It's insanity! THAT'S IT!

So, the Slayers fandom is showing its colors again, and everything's dissolving into ship crap, as always. It's just hilarious how everyone's in a tizzy over Lina being 12 and Gourry 18 in this incarnation. Honestly, I think they're totally missing the point. Someone over in rebmastu's journal mentioned sexual chemistry between a 12 and 18 year old, of all things, and I just shook my head. Don't people realize that this is a chance to have innocent fun at the expense of the Slayers cast? To just throw down without making everything complicated? I say bring on the shenanigans!

And finally, the full thing pieced together. Missing a small hunk of the bottom of volume 7 because of a printing error with volume 9. Stupid volume 9, giving everyone problems all the time.

I can't believe how stupid I am sometimes. I overwrote my old journal layout, and when I went to switch it back, I realized.. I don't even have half the code anymore. Why can I never find a journal layout I like? OTL

My massive Amazon.jp order (which rebmastu has been blabbing about, boo on her) just came in. So, what the hell was I thinking? There must be better ways to work up credit OTL Just for the record, the Slayers novel montage measures in at about 5' long, give or take. It's amazingly long, and I intend to piece the entire thing together. Hell, I've had the first done for a while, so haaay!

Oh wow, I am a fruit today. Posted these in reverse order- first to the communities then to my journal. Maybe I should have just done fake-cuts? Well, I don't mind comments being all over the place since they're all emailed to me anyway.

So Reb and I finally bought the scanner we were talking about, a CanoScan 8800, and OH MY GOD. I love this thing. When people say get a dedicated scanner instead of an all in one, THEY AREN'T KIDDING. I'm not kidding when I say I'm totally, absolutely proud of these scans. I mean it, these look gorgeous, and I can say that without an ounce of ego. Well, okay, maybe a little. I did a killer job leveling and all, you know. Anyway, I know I have a couple Arina Tanemura fans on my FL, so I've scanned some stuff from her newer serializations, Mistress Fortune and Sakura Hime Kaden, as well as a lot of other Ribon stuff, like cover scans. Keep a special eye out for August's calendar page! I AM MAKING A POSTER OF THAT DAMMIT.

So here I am the night before a project deadline, looking up the November election results when I come across this gem, which gave me many hard lawlz.

Sure, it's not the funniest thing in the world. No, scratch that. It's boring as hell. But there's a story to this. Some time ago, I was still working in the day office when a sheriff's car pulls into the tow lot. Out comes this clean shaven guy (a bit odd in our line, I won't argue) with a police escort. Fishy right off the bat, right? Cops never give drunks rides when they get their vehicles impounded, even if it would be the (normally) nice thing to do. They're jerks like that, but I don't like drunks either, so whatever. Anyway, the guy asks to use the restroom and I'm told to direct him to the night office, but he didn't even grumble about its (OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD) nasty nasty NASTY condition. Everyone in the office is getting the Twilight Zone music going on, because after this he doesn't even complain when we give him the tab, which, I swear, was the strangest thing I've seen in there. I mean, it was huge.

After all's said and done, James (coworker) Googles the guy to see if he's some business bigwig and it turns out he's a state rep, and we go full circle back to the article I linked before. God, now I feel bad about the voters. Maybe we really should have reported him?
