McCormack was engaged by Lord Somers & Power House to restore the landmark Power House on Lakeside Drive, Albert Park, an institution that has served as a social and sporting anchor since 1932.

Across its long history, the venue has hosted community events, club gatherings, and performances by renowned artists including Olivia Newton-John and The Seekers, securing its place as a cultural hub.

After decades of continuous use, the building required a comprehensive upgrade to ensure it could continue supporting its community for generations. McCormack delivered a full restoration scope encompassing roof replacement, façade renewal, new balustrades, and louvre installations. A major uplift to accessibility was also achieved, with the introduction of a compliant lift and circulation improvements that now bring the facility in line with DDA standards for the first time.

The outcome is a revitalised asset that preserves the building’s heritage while strengthening functionality, accessibility, and long-term performance, restoring a community icon without compromising its character.

Congratulations to the project team and our partners for delivering in a highly public environment and navigating the complexities of the annual Grand Prix shutdown.
