Hi there, bye there, see you soon!
End of the comics fest season, beginning of a 2-week residency
I’ve had a pretty amazing September, centered around my visit to SPX in Bethesda MD, where I led a Foldy Comics workshop, sold a bunch of books and caught up with old friends…
…followed by several days in Columbus OH visiting the Columbus College of Art and Design, The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum, and CXC, Cartoon Crossroads Columbus, where I was a special guest.

At CCAD I taught a workshop on breaking down a story into a meaningful, multi-page panel grid, then on Saturday I was interviewed on stage by Prof. Andy Kunka and we geeked out about obscure poetry forms—that talk was recorded and will apparently be posted to Youtube at some point.
Tomorrow Saturday Oct 4 I’ll be at PCX, the Philly Comics Expo. I won’t be tabling but I will be signing books at the Partners and Son table from 5-6PM.
Then I’m going to get about five hours of sleep and wake up early to make my flight to Canada: I’m going back to Alberta for another 2-week comics residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and I can’t wait!

Once I’m back home, I’m done with the busy part of my fall and I plan to do some more comics and constraints posts here—it’s been hard to find time to do more than these informational mailings lately but that’s all right because it just means I’m out there doing cool stuff!
Meanwhile, if you’re new to my list, I invite you to dig into my archive on Substack, there’s lots to discover.

Glad you’re so engaged with your profession & sharing your talents; Best Wishes onward 👍❤️
