We bought our circa 1932 Tybee Island beach house in 2012. And then we got to work. I filled it with vintage finds from estate sales, Craigslist and FB marketplace. It’s been published in a couple magazines. These photos are from a 2013 @hgtvmagazine shoot styled by our friend @elizabethdemos. Every year we update, repair and replace so our upcoming vacation rental guests get a magazine-worthy stay. Lots has changed in the past 13 years. New bedrooms and baths, upstairs and down. Outside stairwell enclosed. Central air replaced downstairs window units. Totally new kitchen in 2024. Master bath claw foot tub replaced with more “senior friendly” shower enclosure, following my knee replacement. Here’s how we’ve spent our “spring break.” Living room wing chairs have sparkling white canvas slipcovers from @theslipcoveratelier. Hung (and then rehung) linen drapes in dining room. Replaced porch bedroom curtains with blackout linen-look Amazon panels. Recovered porch chair cushions. Still to come: new coral-print bedding and curtains for another bedroom. New, larger rug for dining room has been ordered. Dining room rug will move to twin bedroom. Porch floor will be repainted—same vibrant turquoise color. Porch bathroom vanity will be replaced with a marble top. More spiffing to come. Upcoming Homeworthy shoot gave us a deadline. Found myself teleported to Waffle House this morning . Protein bowl was just the ticket.
