Writer's Block: Back to the future + update

When I was twelve years old, approximately five and a half years ago, I remember promising myself that by the age of sixteen I would have 'normalized' myself and my character eccentricities, that I would have found myself a boyfriend and that everything would be 'okay'. I can't say that my 12-year-old self would be disappointed in seeing me as I am now; I had different aims, ideas and interests back then. I guess I was still starting to break loose of all the social restrictions that had been imposed on me, like growing in a tight-knit conservative community, having had freshly separated parents, and academic confusion and dilemmas.
I cannot say that I am fully happy of the person I am now, after all, who is? But at least I am glad that I got rid of all those restricting and suffocating 'moral' ideals that many people on this island still hold on to.
Finally, I think that my twelve-year-old self would look at my current self and smile at what I have achieved as far as my views on things go and frown at all those sleepless nights due to over-thinking in a mildly neurotic manner, my lack of friends, self-destructive tendencies and the general negative view on things I tend to hold.

Hm. That was a moody and somewhat sad way to break my LJ silence. So yes, tumblr has stolen my soul, and I am truly sorry for it, so here is a brief update on my current life. School goes on and I have found myself lagging somewhat behind and just generally not wanting to work at all, but sleep all day and waste away my life doing so. My post-loving and -crossing also goes on, and if anyone is interested in exchanging letters with me, I'd be more than glad to do so, just drop me a private message on here or wherever you like.
I have fallen in love with a new British TV show- Being Human. I am sure that some of you may have heard of it. I found both of the series on the internet and watched them in about three days. It is absolutely brilliant, and I encourage everyone to see it, even those who are not particularly interested in shows about the supernatural, since it truly has a real-life significance.

Also, If you're not on tumblr yet, I suggest you jump on the bandwagon, for it is a deliciously sinful site. This is me on tumblr. I warn you, there are quite a number of Morrissey/Being Human/Stephen Fry-related posts.

Woah-wee. I am not dead. I have been away for quite a long time. I don't feel like I have the mental might to formulate a whole paragraph, so here are the two highlights of my week in point form:

- Computer had problems, got new Hard Disk installed and a format. Lost all information I had on previous hard disk, bad times!
- Applied to do my Systems Of Knowledge practicum at the National Archives of Malta, for which I am rather excited and surprisingly eager.

Happy Holidays and whatnot, but now I must go a bit grumpy and Scrooge-y on you all; yesterday I had a terrible day, despite it being Christmas and all that. I woke up with a horrible migraine headache, which lasted for the whole day despite the futile intake of panadols, hence I had a long boring day indoors.

Today wasn't much better either; spent almost a day reading and taking notes about French and British rule in Malta from textbooks without even writing a word for my essay on said subject.

This is a tough one. I'd probably want to be Queen Victoria. I know, a bit odd, but I really would love to see how it feels to be a Queen, to be able to have conversation with the greatest minds of the time, to be revered and respected and most of all to be able to change history; as bizarre as this may sound.

Oh My lordy Potato. How long it's been since I wrote something. Mind you, my excuse is quite justifiable, one word: School! It's just been eating away at my hours of sweet do-nothing around home...And will talk about that lengthily in this post, so please turn away if you dislike people talking away idly about their life. Also...POSSIBLETRIPTOLONDONINJULY, read more about that below.

I must admit that I am quite a good student, actually sometimes I am too good, despite the fact that most of the time I forget about my capabilities and gravely underestimate them. Every week I have two essays (one of Italian and one of English), to which I owe great amounts of my panic and fear of failure; and quite surprisingly, I never got less than 8+/10 in English and 7/10 in Italian. Truthfully, the standards and expectations from students at our school aren't as high as those in other 6th forms, so it always proved to be a comfort zone for me, and thankfully so, since this has almost always been the case when it comes to my education. I would probably work better under much higher expectancies, but I'm happy this way, I truly am.

Test week is coming up soon, and frankly, I am as yet not as worried as I think I should be. Thing is, I think I pretty much know all the most important stuff, and really needn't over-worry about such things. /seldom gush of positivity

ALSO... I MAY BE GOING TO LONDON FOR A WEEK OR SO IN JULY.
Let me explain. Yesterday, my close friend Zoe told me that she and two of her friends are planning a trip to London in July, and told me that I'd be very welcome with them. Most importantly, the price is surprisingly low! GOODTHING:D
We'll see what eventually happens...

Another week, over. And what a busy/frustrating week it was, but I'm happy that it's over with quite a pleasant Friday. Yes, you heard it, I called my day pleasant.

Yesterday a package arrived for me, but there wasn't anyone at home, so a note was left saying that we can go and pick it up from the post office as soon as possible. This was a good tiding indeed, and I planned on going this very morning. I did so, sent off a book to someone via bookmooch, but unfortunately the chap at the office told me that the package will be there tomorrow, so I shall go for it tomorrow morning. I don't know what the package contains, for I have mooched a couple of books from BookMooch and I am also awaiting ink_tree's package to arrive. ♥

On other bookish events, last Sunday we went to a car boots that happens every Sunday and bought three old books at a very cheap price. Imagine my joy, surprise and pleasure when, among the stacks of dusty books, I found The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (which has that distinct smell of all books~~, which I love so much~~). Also among the stacks of books I found a publication called The Heart of London, by H.V. Morton, which is a collection of sort of journalist essays about London, which is quite lovely. This book also has a hand-written inscription inside saying 'To Dad With love & best wishes from Dorothy. Christmas 1937.' That was actually partly why I bought it. I scanned the cover and the spine of each (and inscription):

There shan't be anymore 'A day in the life..." posts since I thought it was getting pretty boring.~~..and I cannot be arsed to take the camera with me to school~~.

I haven't really posted a proper (whatever proper might mean) journal entry for a while now. School has been squeezing all the creative and mental juices from me, and with all the frantic writing, by pen pf course I have a small mountain on the side of my middle-finger. This always happen when I write a lot.

Today was quite all right, we had a small history test and thought I did quite well in it, everything else went as usual, aside from this picture having been stuck in my head for the whole day. Yes, I know I should be ashamed of myself. Oh gosh, I have nothing else. Might as well do some random memes...

These two lovely ladies aren't fictional, but what the hell, I adore them:

She was a mathematician, computer programmer and not to forget, daughter of Byron. Do even need to say why she was so brilliant in my eyes, one couldn't ask for anything more really.

Dolly Wilde

Another lady of somewhat infamous descent. Daughter of Willy Wilde, Oscar Wilde's niece. Despite that her birth was overshadowed by her uncle's trials, she was made famous by her family connections and her reputation as a witty conversationalist. Unfortunately she took to alcohol and drugs, not having written or published anything, despite being regarded as an able storyteller and writer.
Her story intrigues and saddens me so much, and I would have loved to be one of those Ladies French Salons were she would have been quite famously invited to.

The Computer is finally back home and working. We indeed got a format, and now all the stuff I had in My Documents etc. are lost forever. All those harvested icons and pictures...meh. Sigh. And of course it goes qithout saying that there will be no Oscar Picspam because I lost all those bloody pictures. CRYMOAR!

As you guys might suspect I am having quite a busy time at school lately, so my blogging has and will continue to decrease. By some divine intervention I started writing some sort of Alternate-Universe-different-era-Remus/Sirius 'fan fiction' a few days ago, by hand of course, because that's how I roll.
