The Power of Parental Presence
Come near to God and He will come near to you" James 4:8 (NLT).
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
Parenting often feels like juggling a thousand things at once—meals, homework, emotions, laundry, and the quiet hope that we’re doing it right. But amid the chaos, God reminds us that our presence matters more than perfection.
Your child doesn’t need a flawless parent. They need a faithful one. One who shows up, listens, prays, and loves consistently. The seeds you plant today—in the bedtime stories, the car rides, the whispered prayers—will take root in ways you may not see for years.
God doesn’t ask us to be superhuman. He asks us to be present. To lean into His grace when we’re tired, to seek His wisdom when we’re unsure, and to trust that He’s working in our children’s hearts even when we can’t see it.
So take heart, weary parents. Your daily faithfulness is holy work. And the God who entrusted you with these little lives (or teens) is walking with you every step of the way. Guide them as best you can to follow the One who created families. Bathe them in prayer faithfully.
Positive Reinforcement
Make yourself available and PRESENT as a parent, ready to listen. Will they remember you in years to come as being present or rushing out the door while they were still talking to you? No guilt! We’ve all been there, but look to the present and future you. Keep trying to be more present now.
