once upon a time this song annoyed me. if it was a closer i would actually leave to beat out the traffic. but then in 2001 tragedy struck and i was afflicted with epilepsy. in 2003 we went to see they guy in Continental Airlines Arena in New Jersey and had to switch our tickets for handicapped seats because my seizures were a mess at the time. to my lucky amazement, we were put in the front row, in front of the amazing LeRoi Moore. they closed with this song, and i remembering turning around and seeing the entire place just so very alive. i bega jumping up and down with the crowd and was swept up with this joy and a realization: life is so fucking short. i mean, LeRoi is gone... none of us saw that coming. i am sure we all thought we would be jamming with the guys forever... so this song makes me happy as a fucking clam. and right now i am crying with joy. because i think through all the hard times i have been through, i have finally learned my lesson... celebrate i certainly will.

i am a twenty-something year old who is often described as both completely giving and unbelievanly hard-headed. i don't mind either, i like to think that there is a balance to be found somewhere in there. i am a true believer in the fae and know that i have been blessed with some of their magic. i am an aspiring (and therefore starving!) writer of poetry and essays. i also write fanfiction, mainly for House, m.d., one of my absolute obesessions. you can read some of my fanfic at words_waiting. i spend an obscene amount of time on the internet, which is how i founded this journal in the first place! i have an uncanny knack for being able to remember song lyrics and think nothing is better than a great gory horror flick.
i love graphics, especially banners, and have started a credit journal for the collection that i have acquired: saraeve_credits. i love tattoos and am getting a fourth one for my birthday, a tribute to my love of the song "Beachball" by Dave Matthews Band. i am also getting a season pass to Six Flags Great Adventure and i can't wait, since i am addicted to roller coasters!
i have quickly become obsessed with 'Guitar Hero', Band Hero' (Wii) and 'Rock Band 2' (PS3) and love my band, Wicked Tiger! my character's names are Klam Out (guitar), porn yesterday! (vocals). we are 'Faulty Cameras' on 'Band Hero' (Wii) and Sparkles and Porno on 'Rock Band II', and my characters name is Sexy Results (bass/guitar/vocals). i rock the hell out of the vocals! i am also a MarioKart Wii addict and will fight to the death to play as Princess Peach on the bikes!

i love everything and anything about the ocean. i am a water fae at heart and hope to move to Rhode Island one day. but for now i do my best to escape to any shore that i can whenever possible! i love the boardwalk and have written some of my best poems about it.

i am married! to a wonderful man named Louis. he is my high school sweetheart and we have been together for over thirteen years.

in april of 2003 my life changed completely. i had my first grand mal seizure. after a years worth of testing it was discovered i had epilepsy stemming from my occipital lobe, which is the part of the brain that controls vision. after months of trial and error on different drug regiments, the question was put before me: did i want to continue my life the way it was or consider brain surgery?

i opted for the surgery, even though i knew there was a risk of complication and it was not one hundred percent certain they would be successful. also, the surgery would not 'cure' my epilepsy, just make it more manageable on a signifigantly reduced ammount of medication. so on May 2, 2005 i went in and on May 19, 2005 i was released from New York Presbyterian Hospital less a piece of my brain and some of my vision. louis was there for me every step of the way, and for that i am eternally grateful.

update: in May of 2010 i had the Vagus Nerve Stimulator implant surgery. this is my second attempt at using surgery to help manage my epilepsy. it has been a long and painful road... and hopefully this will be the last step towards recovery.

music is not life, life is music, and Dave Matthews Band is an absolute obsession of mine.. i have seen then live in concert over thirty times, traveled over eight hours at a time, and seen them in five different states. the death of LeRoi Moor, saxophone player, is a huge tragedy and i wonder what this tour will bring. but i know that he is up in saxophone heaven, playing away with them.

seriously. i love it with a passion that is frightening. i watched 10 episodes of season five in a row and cried hysterically. i did not cry that hard for a television show since House's Head/Wilson's Heart. i know a lot of it had to do with the fact that the tests Izzy was going through I went through as well, and seeing them was scary. eerily scary.

i am so Izzy/Alex, Mark/Callie and Yang/Hunt already, i have freakin' fanmixes already developing in my head!

Writer's Block: Most memorable concert

so, my 33rd Dave Matthews concert was just this past month. (that's right, 33rd. and 34th, by the way). most people think that it was a mediocre show, but seeing that i have not seen my guys all summer, i was extremely excited about the event. they opened up with 'Funny The Way It Is' and the energy was non-stop throughout the whole thing. but what made it my most memorable, most enjoyable concert to date was when they started to play 'Crush'. we decided to go up to the lawn and smoke a little herb, and the combination of amazing music, pretty awesom weed, and the way the air feels when you are just on the edge of fall, and there is a sweet clarity to things made the night so freakin perfect. After 'Crush' came 'Spaceman' and wouldn't you know fireworks start going off in Philly! if i would have been down in my seats (in the tenth row) i would have missed them, but because i was on the lawn at the moment, dancing away i got to see them. and they were beautiful! it was almost as of they were going off in time with the music. (turns out they were because the Phillies has won that night, making the air so much more excitable, since so many fans at the concert were from Philly). but it was so much fun to finally let go and be me again...

i know there are so many other concerts that i have been to, and ones that are probably much more worth mentioning: my first Dave Matthews Band show, seeing them front row at Central Park, seeing them at SPAC not even a month after my brain surgery... but for some reason this was one of the best nights of my life. plus, i caught one of Carter's drumsticks on the second night!
