So yeah, the movie was amazing. The morning after (at 6:45 am), dreamplum and I were walking to the gas station to get some gatorade for me through some decently thick fog. It was perfect :P

At the gas station, this random guy there asks if we were just waking up or still hadn't gone to bed yet. My response was "Yes," and then I went on to say I had just seen the Silent Hill movie. He responded with, "Yeah, that Jay and Silent Bob are funny as hell."

I'm currently compiling an FAQ for UF's help desk for the College of Food and Agriculture's electronic library and I'm saving all the juicy e-mails for major snarking.. but that will have to come later once lexkixass finishes commenting on them.

Anyways: dreamplum messaged me at work today, asking to come pick her up from her office when I get out. I walk over, and find that she's about ready to saw her own head off rather than deal with the abstract she had been working on about her tomato research. I sat there for a while, when she told me that I had better call up leiabelle (who was going to come over to our place and hang out for a bit before they all went off to the knitting club), and let her know that she should go and hang with _purple_raven_ and duckyshepherd (a quick walk away) instead, at least until we finished up and could collect them.

I take her cell phone, go to contacts, and dial her number.

I put the phone to my ear, only to have it ring, with leiabelle calling me.

We both thought it was odd that we had just called each other. She then went on to say that she had waited outside for a minute, and then went to hang out with _purple_raven_ and duckyshepherd since we weren't around, which is what I had wanted to call her to tell her.

At this point, we're both starting to laugh, and then _purple_raven_ and I (unable to hear each other as she's sitting across the room on the opposite side of the phone conversation), at the same time, say that it was like an episode of the Twilight Zone.

At that point, it was official. dreamplum's abstract was so difficult to deal with that it was causing quantum singularities.

Well, The Ring: Two is coming out in theaters on March 18th. If anybody wanted to get together and watch it, let me know. Also, since I have Ringu and The Ring on dvd, (as well as Ringu 2 and Ringu 0 on my computer) we could all get together and have a giant Ring party sometime before the movie came out.

First, just wishing everyone a happy Christmahanukwanzika, or whatever it is you do when school and work gives you breaks around December :p

Okee... got my eyes checked to update my glasses, and got a sweet new frame that I get to pick up tomorrow. I'm still keeping the old ones in case I'm doing something that has the chance to screw up my glasses.
The great thing is that the drops they put in my eyes didn't work quite as well on my right one, so for the whole day one eye was dilated while the other was constricted, making me look like I had massive head trauma :P

Everyone must go right now to this webpage, as it kicks ass. It's a record label in Japan that has some really cool stuff on it.

Now I get to go and wait for Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen! 3 to arrive, and then ~~mug someone with a gamecube that I can use~~ wait patiently to get back to Gainesville, where I can play it. :P

I had read something like this on cnn.com early on in the the whole election day craziness where the electronic voting machines were inaccurate, counting more votes than there were registered voters by a small amount. Then my friend pointed this page out to me. It shows recorded ballots from one county in Ohio where a large amount of precincts reported vastly inflated ballot counts, including a calculated 1586% voter turnout in one precinct.
REGISTERED VOTERS - WOODMERE VIL: 558
BALLOTS CAST WOODMERE VIL: 8854

And all this was calculated from data from the webpages of that one county in Ohio, which he links to.
Another interesting thing to think about:

In Franklin County, Ohio, electronic voting machines gave Bush 3,893 extra votes in one precinct alone. "Franklin County's unofficial results gave Bush 4,258 votes to Democratic challenger John Kerry's 260 votes in Precinct 1B," according to this report. "Records show only 638 voters cast ballots in that precinct. Matthew Damschroder, director of the Franklin County Board of Elections, said Bush received 365 votes there. The other 13 voters who cast ballots either voted for other candidates or did not vote for president."

Taken from this page reporting incidents of the new electronic voting machine malfunctions. Another snippet a little closer to home:

In Broward County, Florida, election workers were shocked to discover that their shiny new machines were counting backwards. "Tallies should go up as more votes are counted," according to this report. "That's simple math. But in some races, the numbers had gone down. Officials found the software used in Broward can handle only 32,000 votes per precinct. After that, the system starts counting backward."

Anyone want a recount? Or how about a nice, punch card, UN-overseen-so-it-doesn't-fuck-up re-election?
