I mentioned in an early post Mangled Fly Media had an opportunity to attend the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.muskieexpo.com\/milwaukee-expo-links\/\" target=\"_blank\">2016 Milwaukee Muskie Expo<\/a>, we split a booth with good friend and great guide Brad Petzke from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.riversnorth.net\" target=\"_blank\">Rivers North<\/a>. \u00a0Brad and I brought to the booth a selection of flies, <a href=\"http:\/\/mangledfly.com\/product\/muskie-tee-shirt\/\" target=\"_blank\">new muskie swag<\/a> , and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BBc3o5rjScJ\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brad&#8217;s New Bucktails<\/a>. \u00a0Make sure to go to the upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/midwestflyfishingexpo.com\" target=\"_blank\">Midwest Fly Show<\/a> and stop by Brad&#8217;s booth and pick thru his selection of Prime Bucktails. \u00a0These tails which are 100% Northern Michigan Bucktails are perfect tails for tying big flies. \u00a0Honestly some of the best bucktails that I have seen. \u00a0Brad has a good selection of colors as well to choose from.<\/p>\n<p>The Muskie Expo was an eye opener for sure. \u00a0With the biggest selection of hardware for muskie that I&#8217;ve ever been around. \u00a0Almost an overwhelming selection. \u00a0The Milwaukee Muskie expo is geared toward hardware fisherman, with this being the first year they opened the doors to a few fly fisherman exhibitors. \u00a0In attendance representing <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2715\" src=\"http:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-expo-7-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"blane chockletts muskie \" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-expo-7-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-expo-7-450x300.jpg 450w, https:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-expo-7-705x470.jpg 705w, https:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-expo-7.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>the fly angler were some pretty impressive names. \u00a0Had the opportunity to see Larry Dahlberg (<a href=\"http:\/\/huntforbigfish.com\/wordpress\/\" target=\"_blank\">hunt for big fish<\/a>) one of the pioneers of fly fishing for muskie \/ pike, and truly one of my heroes. \u00a0Talked with Blane Chocklett \u00a0as well, Blane is really leading the way currently on fly design for muskie with so many new products like the <a href=\"http:\/\/flymenfishingcompany.com\/products\/fish-skull-chockletts-body-tubing\" target=\"_blank\">Chocklett Body Tubing<\/a> , and <a href=\"http:\/\/flymenfishingcompany.com\/products\/fish-skull-chockletts-articulated-big-game-shank\" target=\"_blank\">Game Changer Shanks.<\/a>\u00a0 Sat in on Blane&#8217;s presentation, and learned a few things, and was confirmed on a few things that I am doing it right. \u00a0Blane is doing some amazing things with fly design, and guides some incredible water in the Virginia area.<\/p>\n<p>Also got to spend some time with a few Midwest boyz that fish for muskie way more than I can \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chriswillen.com\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Willen<\/a>\u00a0one of the best guides in Wisconsin and Tennessee for muskie\u00a0, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greatlakesfly.com\" target=\"_blank\">Eli Berant<\/a>\u00a0, and brothers \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.musk-efly.com\" target=\"_blank\">Matt and Eric Grajewski<\/a>.\u00a0 Got to listen to their stories, \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-expo-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2710 size-square\" src=\"http:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-expo-3-180x180.jpg\" alt=\"muskie-expo-3\" width=\"180\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-expo-3-180x180.jpg 180w, https:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-expo-3-450x450.jpg 450w, just hang with guys that have a true passion for the sport of Muskie fishing. \u00a0With Muskie fishing \u00a0really growing, especially the Michigan area, the future of Muskie anglers \/ innovators is bright. \u00a0Fly companies have taken notice and are listening to the depend, as new rods, lines, and gear continue to hit the market. \u00a0Chris and Eric G. do a wonderful job on the water they guide, look at their sites and if your interested in booking trips give them a call. \u00a0Eli is always tying up some great bugs, give him a follow on Instagram or Facebook, to get some of the best patterns for chasing any Predator fish. \u00a0Especially Muskie or Pike<\/p>\n<p>With such a huge selection of Gear \/ Lures \/ and Muskie Stuff at this show two products that stood out for me that will be entering my boat this coming fall.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/justencase.com\/on-the-water\/\" target=\"_blank\">Just EnCase\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; has a new 2016 Fly Locker. \u00a0No images available on line yet. \u00a0But this innovative fly locker will let your BIG flies rest on magnets. \u00a0No more twisted tails and bent feathers. \u00a0No more taking your flies out to dry. \u00a0You have to be really addicted to muskie fishing to invest in this fly box, but for how long it takes me to tie a fly, think I&#8217;m going to invest in a new fly box.<\/li>\n<li>Always wanted one and now I found the one I want. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.muskiebumper.com\" target=\"_blank\">Muskie Bumper\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0the safest and easiest way to measure investment, but worth<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2686\" src=\"http:\/\/mangledfly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/muskie-tee-shirt-22-80x80.jpg\" alt=\"muskie tee Muskie Logo on the board. \u00a0All I have to do is provide them with a logo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Overall it was a great show, learned a couple things, was surrounded by people that truly love this sport\/chase. \u00a0I look forward to the upcoming season. \u00a0I&#8217;ll be expanding my fall program slightly if your interested in dates send me an email on our <a new waters. \u00a0I have learned a ton in the 5 years since I took this quest on, and know I have so much more to learn. \u00a0Going to these shows helps to confirm some of my theories and thoughts, and also helps expand the mind to think outside the box. \u00a0That is why I enjoy having so many friends in the industry fishing so many different
