essentials
Across the country, students are navigating the cost of living crisis in real time. At Manchester, we’re not waiting for change. We’re building it.
Essentials is here to support you in meeting your basic needs.
Whether you need help accessing essential items (such as food, cleaning, personal hygiene products and childcare items), facing financial difficulties, or some tips and tricks to help with budgeting and money management, we’ve got you covered.
Essentials is open to all University of Manchester students, housing
- The Pantry for hardship emergencies and urgent needs
- Community space and seating for study or spending quiet time
- Full kitchen facilities complete with tea & coffee, and
- A variety of other activities and sessions designed to support your basic needs and wellbeing.
As well as our own services, we work closely with colleagues in the Union, University, and the wider community, to ensure you’re signposted to the people that can help with the issues you’re facing.
Find us at Thorncliffe House, 320-322 Oxford Road, M13 9NG. We’re open from Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm.
