Yes, I'm still alive! Survived 14 days of family vacation so far and am pretty sure I will survive the last 4 days as well...

Lots of fun to be had traveling the US West Coast down and loads of shopping done. Minor family crisis about the use of chicken stock in Thai Curries only to be almost completely derailed by my moms astute observation that the recession in the US can't have been that bad because everything in Las Vegas and Palm Springs still seems to be the same. (For the sake of christmas I didn't even headdesk at all)

Read all the posts about Merlin and now feel like I will have to actually watch the whole season. :)

Most important though I did realize I should probably say for those who don't know yet: if you don't have any plans for New Years, you are all invited! If you happen to live close by enough to want to make the trip. *g*

Pheejun - or why I am sadappy today

yes, I shall make sadappy a new word. I am sad, but I am happy! :)

So, I was kind of bitten by the American Idol bug for the last few weeks, because not only were there two contestants I really liked, but...incidentally they also really liked each other!

So I made a vid!

But in case you have no idea what I am talking about here a Pheejun Primer!

Who has no idea why he even went to audition and gives great compliments, like: Randy: you look much better in person!

Also, as we find out, he really doesn't like cowboys. At all!

But in the end, he does apologize to the cowboy (well, to his parents that is)

Which makes him the first AI Contestant I have ever seen who smiles at someone while backstabbing them, making sure everyone understands that that is what he is doing. He is kind of doing AI the Meta version.

When he makes the Top 24 all the family he needs (Phillip) is waiting for him. Proving that even Ryan Seacrest just pulled Phillip to the front with him because clearly those two!!!! Heejun's family was probably waiting outside for him somewhere but everyone forgot that Heejun has any family other than Phillip.

(skip to 3:25 to get to the happy part) Also, Heejun still likes to cry a lot and Phillip doles out all the hugs!)

Who has happy Feet in flip flops and sings Thriller way more awesome than I've ever heard it before.

He also doesn't really seem to like Cowboys but he does like Heejun so they actually survive Group Round to form another Group together.

We will not be wasting time asking questions like: Why would the Producers think that that theme would make sense EVER? and instead focus on the fact that Phillip is very pretty. Also, Heejun cries a lot and Phillip needs to do all the hugging!

Also, Phillip is absolutely willing to treat me (...ah, I mean Heejun of course) right, he will. Still Pretty!

When they start giving interviews it becomes obvious that they like to stare at each other a lot, like Phillip's chest hair and share the same mother.

Also, Heejun has Wednesday clothes and Phillip has T-Shirts. (Which should have clued us in already that having Tommy Hilfiger mentoring them in style issues could never really work out)

When Phillip gets sick, Heejun is the perfect boyfriend:

He makes Fun of Phillip and shares deeply personal health issues with random people on the street and interviewers.

He threatens pranks

Cries with him

Eats his arm

And gets himself a new Phillip when the old one is broken!

There also is a lot more hugging and angsting whenever one of them might have to go home! But that was actually my vid and I will probably do another one that is made up of just Pheejun hugs!

Of course, only one of them can win (it really is like the Hunger Games!) so we had to say goodbye to Heejun after two of the greatest meta Performances by Heejun.

First, he decides singing Ballads all the time is boring (I wish he wasn't the only one on that show coming to that conclusion)

Which yes, I never said Heejun was the best singer in the whole thing (Phillip has enough talent for the both of them) but well, LOVE!!!!!

Steven Tyler though was pissed, and so was half of Idol Nation (which makes for good Meta methinks)

Sadly, proving he could also be serious didn't save him. But when he sang his last song: Man, that brought tears to my eyes (could have also been the manpain on Phillips face) and I have only rewatched like 3.000.000 times!

And then, just because I haven't cried enough yet:

We see how Heejun says goodbye to Phillip who then has to turn his back to the cameras prompting the girls to make sure that no one sees his big old tears of the broken hearted. And yes, in the background he is rushing off the stage. Oh, the PAIN! And *all* the TEARS!

Phillips Girlfriend (the other Girlfriend) is a secret shipper:

And Phillip is already planning to do *all* the things with Heejun when on Tour!

And yes, there will be video!

Also, in quite a few interviews Heejun seems to be mostly looking forward to seeing the South and Phillip just wants to go to New York! (well, they both seem to have adopted families there now!)

And I hope everyone (who wasn't hanging out at my place that is) had a great New Years. We've spent the first two hours of 2012 watching 2012 as you do when you are awesome, so my New Years rocked!

On top of that, I got a really great story for tsnsecretsanta which is Andrew/Jesse and beyond awesome. It has poetry in it (awesome poetry that is) and poet Jesse (who also writes children's books) and artist Andrew.

So, some recs from the Social Network Big Bang at thesocialbbang

Changing Paramters by janonny (36,000 words)
Summary: In the year 2671, Mark is rich, famous and estranged from Eduardo. But none of that matters anymore, because his origin as a man-made android is about to be leaked out to the public.
This was beautiful. I wasn't really convinced by the summary because the idea just seemed strange to me. And then I read it and OMG, the author actually managed to make me understand robot!Mark and his emotions in a way that made it even easier for me to understand human!Mark from the movie. And the story managed to not ever stray into a terretory where Mark's actions were because he was an android.

almost, finally, finally by fledmusic (27,000 words)
Summary: Sequel to these things get louder. The first year of Mark and Eduardo's long-distance romance, featuring PDAs in formal wear, revelations about cookies, drama over Facebook info updates, and realizations that absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder quite so much as it makes the heart grow frustrated.
This one I liked even better than the prequel which I liked a lot. So, it is very domestic and established relationship but I happen to love that! And IMO there aren't really enough fics out there that actually show the relationship as opposed to the getting together. So 27,000 words of them figuring out how they can manage to make their relationship work and some nice angst thrown in between is perfection!

So yay, waiting for more now! *g*

But still, in case anyone cares, TSN_Wip_Track @Twitter. It is only slightly spammy, so probably only for those who really want regular updates for *all* the WIPs on the meme.

Will totally do a Rec post soon about my favorite TSN stories, simply because there are so many of them. And I feel the need to share! *g*

Also, much love for X-Men, but that is not surprising, is it? If anyone wants to rec me some x-men fic, I actually have two days off and need input!!!!

Aaaaaaand thank you everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday! I am slowly now crawling back into normal life what with London Trips (Miranda FTW!!!!), Vacation, Christmas, New Years and everything else.

Still slowly killing brain cells by watching CSI:Miami mostly now, because it's like this car wreck and I can't look away! I have no idea how the same franchise could produce CSI:LV, and CSI:Miami. Honestly, me, the procedural junky....haven't seen anything this bad (and I watched all of Law and Order - yes, every single version and spin off)

Oh well, even better...I started this project at work (well, we started it 6 months ago but only now did someone realize we needed the outcome like in 2 weeks so it all kicked into high gear today) and it's slightly insane how a company as big as ours can be so clueless about keeping information digitally stored.

We just tried to call the firm who does our printing for us, hoping they might still have copies of these really really important documents that no one at our company has any idea where it could be. Obviously neither does the printer firm (they were kind of laughing at us though when we asked).

*goes back to killing more brain cells* Only 3 more seasons to go!!!!

Even if you wouldn't notice were you to read the sheer number of none posts I made the last year or so. *g*

Well, anyway...in case you are wondering what my friending/defriending spree was all about on LJ, I've been doing a new sort through and decided to refriend ppl that I am reading on DW but filtering you out. Instead of defriending. Which makes sense. I'm sure it does somewhere. *g*

I will also go back and remove a lot of my content from LJ but I will keep the posts up and link to the corresponding DW entries so for anyone searching for something you will still be able to find it.

It's not like any of the LJ fail actually made that decision for me (to be quite honest, LJ fucking with everyone is not really surprising or new) but it did remind me to get some of the stuff done I've been wanting to do for a while.

So, I am still going to use my LJ flist because I like reading what goes on there, but I am moving my content primarily to DW. It will be linked whenever I post but should it be flocked and I haven't given you access on DW to read, give me a heads up and I can do that.

Though I rarely flock anything anyway, so don't be afraid that you will miss anything.

And I guess, to be quite honest, I feel like if anyone actually gives a fuck about anything I say, they can follow a link to read my posts on DW just like I follow everyone else who only posts on LJ. Though, to be even more honest...since I rarely post or comment to begin with its mostly a moot point anyway. *g*

My Vids you will still be able to find either way. ;)

Fedcon yay :)

So, having worked through my Pierrefonds Pictures now to Fedcon. So, tmz_cori had the idea of a day trip to Fedcon and even though I am not really into SGA anymore, how could I say no to a Joe Flanigan/David Hewlett tagteam panel.

So we piled bingeling and chanii into my small car and went on a roadtrip! Roadtrips are yay by definition!

And Fedcon was also much fun, the mentioned tagteam panel actually reminded me why I was so much into SGA because those two have chemistry! And hanging out afterwards with bettina, mabiana and two of tmz_coris friends was also way fun.

Sadly, parking in the bushes was somehow against parking regulations in Bonn (go figure) so we ended up getting a parking ticket. Boooohhh. But anyhow, much fun to be had. :)

Most of my pictures didn't really turn out but just to prove we were there, have some Panel Pictures at my DW post.

Since I've been on vacation and all. *g*

Spend 1 Week with my parents and my aunt in South Africa soaking up the sun and eating lots of great food (that is no joke - if you think I am food obsessed I am nothing compared to my father who literally planned the entire vacation around restaurants he wanted to eat at!)

Lessons learned:

1 Week is quite enough family time. Still workable but longer would probably drive me insane.

Spending time in Capetown ended up being a very schizophrenic experience. Wanting to enjoy your vacation always warring with looking around and being quite appalled at the systemic racism not only in the way of living there but also in my own family and the way they reacted to that way of living.

I did enjoy it and the Winelands were beautiful, the Waterfront much fun and the sun very very sunny! Which was awesome!

Still, something was off for me and I could not imagine spending much more time there. (Though I do have to admit that we did stay very closely around a specific area (due to this being very much the vacation my parents wanted to have) so don't take me as someone actually knowledgable about anything there.

But still, if you care to see them, I uploaded some pictures. *g*

So, asking for spring did actually seem to work?

Work was nice with everything being on time. Of course now we have Monday to look forward to and our Pilots going on strike.

Let's see how that'll work out. *g*

But, I had another day off, and managed to move some more furniture, further clean out my guestroom (finally started to get rid of all my old vhs tapes) and watch a whole season of Law and Order.

Yeah, don't ask.

Still on fannish hiatus a bit (though starting to look forward to going back to Pierrefonds soon) but feeling a bit less overwhelmed by work so I think I will get back soon (and maybe start by actually going to finally see the by now not so new Sherlock Holmes).

Have one day off and thus escaped the hell that my job has turned into. If we could now and forever stop with the snow please I would appreciate it a lot.

We've been working basically open ended shifts each day since the end of december with angry passengers, cancelled flights, delayed flights and everything else one could imagine.

The weekend before christmas we gave out 15.000 Hotel rooms and it really hasn't been getting much better.

But yeah, it will be spring soon, right?

Also, have decided to switch off commenting on LJ because I kind of hate it when there are comments to the same post in different places (since I am already terrible at replying when it is all in one place). I hope no one doesn't mind too much (if you do, just let me know and maybe I'll figure out something better).

There will be a time when I can be a bit more fannishly and flist involved and from now on we shall call that time spring time. And hope it will come soon.

Okay, so this evening when I left the house and checked my mailbox...there was an envelope and I thought...mhm, pretty early for a christmas card but yay anyway.

Imagine my surprise when I opened it and it was an autograph from Colin Morgan. Which yay, you can never have enough of those, so I was all happy. But...there was no return address. Nothing.

Which I take as proof that Colin Morgan is stalking me! Well, either that or he randomly sends autograph cards to people. *g*

Or, even though a lot less likeley of course than Colin Morgan stalking me...someone knows of my obsession and loves me and sends me pretty things! Somehow I like that idea even better! *g*

So I have about a million projects that I should have started. *This* is not one of them. But I had two days off and just rewatched the Princess Bride and...yeah, I have no real reason. *g*

This probably won't make too much sense if you don't know the Princess Bride (and might very well make no sense to you if you do *g*) but really, there were too many 'nods' by the Merlin writers to some of the classic Princess Bride scenes it had to to be done.

Mostly this is for Ben Vanstone, because he writes Merlin in a way that remind me of the Princess Bride. Each story he writes contains the capacity of True Love and High Adventure and the possibility of greatness for each character.

Because Arthur will be a great King and Merlin the most powerful wizard of them all and Guinevere will be a guiding force for both of them and Morgana will hold in her hands the power over them all. Which doesn't mean they will live happily ever after what with the thing of life not being fair.

The High School Musical Big Bang

There are three stories posted already but a few more to come. Most is probably going to end up being Chad/Ryan because...yeah, it just seems to be the pairing everyone is writing. I have no idea why. *g*

Moment of Surrender by christycorr (Merlin/Arthur, Arthur/Gwen AU)

I am the first to admit that while logically I know that Arthur/Gwen is not evil and there is no reason to be disappointed or upset about the fact that it is happening on the show as early as it is, I am not really happy about it. Mostly because I keeps popping up now when I'm reading fanfiction and I haven't really found a good way yet to still love my pairing and want them to be together while also knowing that Arthur is in love with Gwen. I know, my show was so slashy I actually seem to have forgotten how to use my slash goggles.

Oh well, this story (while not set in Camelot) kind of made that better for me. I don't quite know why, but even if it doesn't do the same for you, it is a good story to read either way. *g* And no Gwen bashing or pairing bashing at all in it! :)

Okay, so we made it safely to Seoul and our Hotel. We even saw a bit of the city already (okay, it was one street but we were tired so....).
