e.g. Clowns (literally and figuratively).

I had written a specific story in mind before writing this song. I tried to write them all directly in this description but I accidentally tabbed out so I lost all the progress. Too bad. You'll just have to use your own interpretation here.

A song that was initially made for BOF:ET.
It was my first attempt at writing a "boss song" in rhythm games. Fast paced, spam hardstyle kicks everywhere, speedcoreish parts, a lot of fakeouts, i think it fits the definition somewhat.
Unfortunately it suffers from being a 170bpm song, which isn't. very fast.

The song didn't fit the theme we were going for (which was "summer" basically) and got eventually scrapped. I figured it's much more fitting for the song to be in vivid/stasis instead.

Composer's note:
Terminal Wish is a song about suffering on one's own consequence.
Have you ever felt like whenever something terrible is approaching and so you try to prepare for it, but it is way too late to prepare anything?
You'd wish you prepare sooner. You wish you were stronger. More powerful, smarter, luckier, everything.
Yet this isn't fiction. It's reality.
In the end, you suffer on that terrible day unprepared to do anything. Panic freezes your body. The war was lost before you could do anything.
You cry and scream in agony, not being able to escape from it all.
When the punishment ends, everyone around you resents you. You regret your life. Wondering how and why it all happened.
...Totally not projecting about my college final exam experience...hahah.


I originally wrote this song as my "first" attempt at writing dubstep. I tried to make it sound as... how would you say it... cathartic... as possible.
But the idea for the drop was... definitely unmatched with the massive sounding verse.
I was told by Fivda (owner of KodamaSounds) how this song reminded them of one of Akira complex's song, Boot Sequence. I took that idea and use that as the base for the second drop.

It's... unsettling. Taking inspiration from someone who already passed away. It feels so wrong.
But also... i hope this could be a nice homage to them.

A costum song made for VNMC 4K 2024's 1st Qualifier!!!

I made this song with the intention of sticking to the lore of Alte Descent, written by the VNMC tean.

In the first chapter, the MC - Kyoufu - who lives in an underground base with their unkind teammates, was told (more like forced) to go to the surface to restock. Once he gets inside the elevator, the cable that supports it snaps, and sends him into terminal velocity - 15 MACH downwards - sending him 17000km into the ground.
Surprisingly he's still alive, but as soon as he continues onward and opens another chamber, he faces with a giant monster.
In a saving grace, mere centimeters before his head is about to get chopped off by the monster, a mysterious someone shoots the monster down in one kill.

Conclusion: "Damn, Kyoufu sucks at this."

So, that's what I tried to tell.

Massive props to log() who carried me out of my rut when writing this song - I had no idea what would happen if they weren't there to help me with this.

When Sunset Serenade (the song competition this was submitted to) was announced, I had *no idea* what I wanted to make. It just happened so suddenly, but regardless I was really excited to at least try.

I know I probably have too much songs in vivid/stasis already, sorry about that!!! It's hard not to get FOMO'd when all your friends AND dogs participated in it.

At this point I asked twitter if anyone would like to collab! Initially I was just planning for a 2 person collab but it turned into 5 as soon as I knew I would've felt too guilty to say no to everyone... Well, it turned out to be huge anyway.

I tried my best to keep everyone's part as close to their original ideas while adding my own tweaks here and there. I'm kinda disappointed I couldn't make more than a basic 200bpm drop but I only had less than a week when it was my turn haha...

I'm super glad this song turned out to be super unique. I achieved what I initially set out to be, and more! I couldn't thank everyone enough in LONE*STAR for making this. It's too good!! I could never dream of making something like this in my entire life.

My 2nd collaboration with Kyotsugyon! I tried to make something more frivolous and something that feels a little more windswept than usual! Kyotsugyon did some of the melody writing and most of the structuring. I had a lot of fun trying out new SFX's to incorporate more story writing into the song! Hope you enjoy as usual :)

We submitted this for Cosmic Radio 2024, but to none of our surprises we didn't get in. It was a nice try at least.

Composer's note:
I was told to make something that's rhythmically consistent.
And I said to myself, "Oh, this is easy!"
I got stuck on a 16 bars sketch.

After feeling defeated, I found the original melody of this song sitting in my drive for another unfinished project.
It was perfect.
I asked if I can use it for the tournament and they said yes.

I tried to make something super emotionally resonant while being super energetic at the same time.
So I made a "Typical" hardcore structure, "Typical" hi-tech drop, and everything else just clicks into place.

After a lot of guidance and constantly revising the mix, this is the result.
It was an incredibly cathartic experience.

Long after, I found that this song has helped me through tons of depression episodes; times where I feel… not wanting to exist, times where I feel like music is the wrong thing to do, times where I've lost my friends and never being able to get over it... many such things.

Life told me that I could find diamond in the rough - a shining flower amidst the dull and piercing grass, beauty surrounded by horror... a sort of... Pandora's Box filled with all the bad things you can think of for a tiny glimmer of reward at the bottom of it.

The reason I kept going.

Well, that's just my interpretation.

I learned that despite how stressful life could be, no matter how bad things can get, everything will be okay in the end.
It's been hell. But it's not all bad too.

Despite the super strong urge of giving up, and even sometimes regretting that I chose the path I did,
I'm comfortable here,
and I wouldn't want to exchange this for anything else.

Composer notes:
There are times where the music itself speaks louder than what my thought process was behind it. I think I would be wasting my breath, or rather words, by explaining them in here, so I'll explain what I feel about this song instead.

When I commissioned RuV to draw for this song, we had a hard time thinking what kind of vision would fit for the album. However, after a LONG discussion, we eventually settled with this idea.
I couldn't thank him enough to make such a fitting art for this album, and for being patient with my sudden requests.

I remember thinking a lot about what I want my music to be. Incidentally, I tried so hard to make every song to have some sort of moral value. I wanted it to solve my own problems.
Worse, at some point I want it to be so full of wisdom. But I never really found a satisfying answer.
It's simply pointless to try to define any one reason why you're here in this world. Why are you in this position, how can you be better, what's your job prospect going to look like.

I find out that it is toxic trying to tie your whole career into defining wise words for yourself because you'll never get the answer you expect. Your guiding star is only forward - there's no shortcuts, no wormholes, no instant gratification - just... treading forward, going through the obstacles. Just.... living.

I've always want to abolish my "inner voices", to get rid of all the negativity I surrounded myself with. But... I realize that you need to understand that no matter how hard you try - you've always been, and always will be human, and full of flaws. You're a part of your own hatred, and no one - not even yourself - can take that away from you.

If you've read this far, thank you. It means a lot to me. Please don't forget to take care of yourself. Seriously. Even if you don't think it's worth it, you'll find that you need to.
Believe in yourself more :)

I'm really glad that this song is finally out. This compilation has taken a significant portion of my time the past couple of months. From the remix itself, to designing the cover art, to making visualizers for everyone.

All of this started when Kyotsugyon had a crack idea of a 16 minute extend of SUPERNOVA. By god was it life changing when I first heard of it.
He also had the idea for a remix compilation of SUPERNOVA. Although looking back, none of us really understood the scale of the work we put in it.

It's beyond insane. To think that this project has been in development for 2 years (?!), and we got as many people as do now (?!!), it's really the best outcome we could get.

I was reminiscing how I first started playing vivid/stasis when it was in beta and only available in itch.io. Me and Kyotsugyon discovered it from a friend, and when they opened song submissions, we submitted Fixations Toward the Stars and Happy Go Lucky!!! respectively. It snowballed so hard to where we are now.

Thank you. Everyone at Hajimeli, my best bud Kyotsugyon, everyone that made this compilation possible. I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity.

The decision to do a nu//finder style remix was made very last minute. This happened right after the album got delayed by a month and leaked to the public.

Kyotsugyon and the others were planning POOPERNOVA for April Fools Day. So I thought "What if I made a piece that is exactly the opposite of that?"
Super serious, super interpretative, super loud.

The irony is, even such a serious song like this sampled POOPERNOVA, the song that was meant to be "garbage" (figuratively), onto this incredibly serious song. Just like taping a banana on a wall, while calling it 'the most thought provoking thing in the world'.

The title Hollow Avantgarde really stuck with me for a while, it's just a really fascinating concept to think about. A sort of... criticism of how the Brandest New Things are always made in the hollowest of interest.
