I have a lot of things I want to talk about, but nothing that suffices me making an entry. I sort of want to talk about how spectacularly ineffectual I have been since graduation, and I also sort of want to do a writeup of the all-night party, finally; and I also sort of want to talk about how First Class was the movie of my dreams, and how Young Justice will not stop Happening, and how I may or may not have a Teen Titans/Super 8 crossover now, and how artemisrampant linked me to that one Mark/Eduardo fic and it possibly literally killed me--

--I have a lot of issues with superheroes, you guys. It's kind of a problem.

...But I have no idea how to assemble any of those things into anything resembling coherence, so for now you get a meme. A delicious, delicious meme.

1) You won a million dollars! But you have to spend all the money in one week. What would you do/buy?

A new laptop, a trip to Disney, probably a few sets of Broadway tickets, several dozen of these shirts. Then I would call up Capcom and ask if they had plans to localize the Phoenix Wright/Professor Layton crossover, and if they said "no" I would ask them how much money it would take to convince them, and then I would give them ALL THAT MONEY. Unless it was more than what I had. In which case I would GIVE THEM WHAT I HAD. If there was anything left I would spend it on extravagantly useless nerd memorabilia.

2) What does your handwriting look like?

I am... one of the few people I know who writes almost entirely in cursive? My elementary school was very specific that after third grade, if you did not write in cursive YOU WOULD DIE. That's how I remember it, at least. And so even when my friends who escaped the same elementary school resorted to print, I stayed strong.
It's not very exciting cursive, though, sadly; there's nothing really formal or elegant about it, and it's probably not ~true~ cursive because my spacing is sort of wonky and the angles are all different directions. WHATEVER. It's the fastest way to write.
My print handwriting is about as childlike and no-frills as you can get. Nothing to see here, move along.

3) Have you ever had a moment in your life where you honestly wished Elite Beat Agents would show up and help you?

Yes. I mean, I love them, so if they existed I would probably abuse my EBA privileges for things like MY TV WON'T WORK or THIS CHEM PROBLEM IS HARD, but. There was a time, around last spring, where I think the only thing I really needed was someone on my side, and... that's what the Agents are for. THEY WOULD HAVE DANCED ME OUT OF MY JUNIOR YEAR, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT.

4) Favourite type of pie?

This may make me a pie heathen, but chocolate cream pie. I love all kinds of pie, because Pie is Good, but given the choice between a fruit anything and a chocolate anything, I will always, always love the chocolate thing more. It's like an extremely tasty disease.

5) Compose a haiku about any subject you'd like. (Yes, I know that's not a question.)

I'm far too sleepy
To form a decent haiku

...That's a haiku okay. Depending on how you pronounce "hours."

It is! Well, sort of. It might not be intelligible, really. But nothing I do is.

First off: I'm graduating in three days. In less than three days, now. I know I've said that before, but I feel like I have to keep saying it because it's still not making any sense to me. I feel like if I don't keep repeating it I'm going to wake up tomorrow morning and find out I have a chem test tomorrow. Which. I'm hardly alone in that plight, I realize. You guys just get to hear about it from me.

Related to this (I have a point, I promise), prom happened a few weeks ago. And I went to the stupid prom in my stupid dress, and it wasn't too long before I realized: I was at my senior prom. I was enjoying my senior prom. I was having such a quintessentially normal high school experience that I had to sit back for a moment and think about it. I was a normal teenager. ~~A normal District 4 teenager, no I am never going to let that go so you can forget about it.~~ I mean, after prom we went back to my house and played Portal 2 and watched Whose Line, but for a few hours I was a normal teenager in a room full of teenage normalcy, and the feeling was. Actually not terrible. Strange, but definitely not terrible.

And somewhere, as I was sitting there being normal, somewhere between the pre-prom video that involved a carful of boys singing 1000 Miles and Evan dancing his way into the middle of our circle, somewhere it hit me: I am genuinely, unironically going to miss this place.

Not all of it, of course, but no one ever misses all of everything; I'm saying that I was expecting to miss pre-homeroom seminars on boy bands and DC history and Zelda timelines, to miss a group of friends who saved me from god-knows what, but not to miss the rest, not really. But now that I'm able to count the hours until I'm gone, that's what I've been thinking about.

The rest.

I've been thinking about the time I had a breakdown when I was supposed to give my French speech and Michelle saw me in the hallway and asked if I was okay. I've been thinking about the time that I got called out of English and Robbie did the same thing. (Junior year was. Not good.) I've been thinking about every time Joby hugged me and my sister for no reason and every time I've had a conversation with Anaximander during physics that felt like a real conversation that real people would have. I've been thinking about how Sage recognized my Dr. Horrible costume. I've been thinking about how sincerely friendly Abby was when I ran into her at CVS and I've been thinking about the time Ms. Stanley said, are you alright, you don't seem like yourself, is there anything I can do and I've been thinking about Mr. Kachinski's legitimate interest in my internship project. I've been thinking about how Carolina and Eva and Emily let me room with them in Quebec, and how that might have been the event that set me on the path to where I am now.

I've been thinking about how I went into high school expecting to hate most of it, and how I'm leaving hating very little; how for a girl who isn't quite sure where she falls on the cynicism-idealism sliding scale, all I can remember right now are the small miracles. I've been thinking about how high school, of all things, somehow managed to reaffirm my faith in people.

...All of this is, of course, super stereotypical graduation ranting, wah wah I'm leaving wah wah. I'll grow out of it. I think it's interesting to note, though, that five years ago I would have pegged me as the last person to do something like this, and now here I am.

Huh.

Alsoooo! I know I still have that other meme to finish (which, I'm so sorry, I was honestly in the middle of lunch today when I was like WAIT FRICK I NEVER WROTE THOSE DRABBLES), and I will finish it, but. This is also a meme which I adore. And I've been feeling the love lately, so I think it's appropriate. Give me a pairing and I'll write a love note from one to the other!

So sometimes having a perfect day makes everything else worth it. This was my Friday:

Bore witness to an epic rubber-band/meterstick showdown during physics. Listened to speeches. Talked. Ate Starbursts. Watched Stephen play Portal. Wrote fic. Listened to music. Talked. Wrote more fic. Bought prom tickets. Made a snack. Internetted. Watched Girlfriends, again. Partied, partied, yeah. Internetted. Ate more food. Watched Degrassi.

It's... not very exciting, I know. But I feel like I should keep this here for future reference, to remind myself that, yes, sometimes everything can go right.

(Not to mention the epic Exit 51 meeting yesterday. "Famous Potter doesn't know about Exit 51! That's because Exit 51... IS ON MARS!")

1. Finnick Odair. So, okay, Hannah's been reading the Hunger Games. (Actually, Hannah had been reading the Hunger Games; she just finished Mockingjay a few days ago.) And she's been doing the same thing she did with Percy Jackson, where I read assorted random paragraphs over her shoulder and beyond that she keeps me posted on whatever's going on, and through all of this I have drawn one conclusion:

I love Finnick Odair.

Actually, not even that, because if this were just a list of things I love it would be a lot longer. Fine, then: I am in love with Finnick Odair. It's true. And it's ridiculous, because I've never even read the damn books and yet here I am, flailing wildly and thinking about Finnick ALL THE TIME. I just. as;dlkj what is wrong with me, I don't even.

2. The BTR fandom. I've maybe said this ninety-six times in the past few months, but you guys. YOU GUYS. I don't get actively involved in fandom too often, more due to my own morbid terror of human interaction than anything, but so far the Big Time Rush fandom-- or the LJ corner of it, at least-- has been just incredibly sweet and funny and unbelievably talented. There aren't any real ~ship wars~, no real ~drama~, and it's just... it's just fun, and it's awesome to be part of it. <3

(If anyone from bigtimerush or palmwoods is reading this, um, hi, hello, I'm sorry that I keep gushing about how amazing you guys are in a probably creepy fashion. I realize that I'm sort of cuckoo bananas but I promise I'm mostly harmless. *waves*)

3. Community. Can we talk about Community, you guys, please? Like, can we possibly discuss how Community went from a-show-that-I-watch-when-it's-on to possibly-my-favorite-part-of-the-one-block-of-television-I-consistently-watch? And can we discuss how I relate to Abed possibly more than any other character in existence, and can we discuss how completely in love with him Troy is, and can we discuss how Annie is adorable and Jeff is hilarious and how this show likes to make me cry even when it shouldn't? Because I think we need to do that.

(Relatedly, Parks and Rec is also amazing, and April and Andy are my favorite ever. :Dd)

4. Writing. I've actually started posting more fic, kind of recently-- a lot of it as a result of the aforementioned BTR fandom being so amazing-- and wow. Sometimes I angst about writing because it invades my brain and distracts me from real work and I never finish anything, but sometimes I get something done and I'm like oh, yeah, right. Because that feeling is the most amazing feeling.

5. Getting into klorbag varblernelking college. Ahaha, I sort of promised myself I wouldn't be the I GOT INTO COLLEGE girl, but I. I got into college. It's kind of amazing, you guys.

Tonight I went to Frolics, and the entire senior class proceeded to remind me that we have twenty days of high school left, you guys, I do not even.

And then in the car on the way home, Mount Holyoke sent me an email saying that my application status was now online. And... then I didn't tell anyone, and waited for an agonizingly long time to get home so I could check. AND THEN I GOT IN, and they also offered me twenty thousand dollars a year. And that's. I'm. That's.

I AM GOING TO GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL AND GO TO COLLEGE, PEOPLE, WHAT IS THIS

Do you know what I'm really bad at, LJ? Not disappearing for months at a time. Seriously. Hi there, internet, I'm Echo. And I... am not very good with staying on top of anything. Including journal updates.

BUT I'M BACK NOW! Hopefully for a longer length of time than before! Man, I can't even remember what happened since I last updated. I don't really want to talk about my ~college search~ process, because it's stressful, and I don't find it interesting because I'm busy being distracted by boy bands. Liiike a twelve-year-old. Oh yes, COLLEGE HERE I COME. <3

Other than that? I went to Disney/Universal a few weeks ago, and ASLD;KFJS;LKFDJ Harry Potter; failed at NaNo again, but I'm actually planning to keep this project going this time; went to Wizard World New England in October and am currently planning for PAX East and Anime Boston; and in general my life is pretty much the same as ever. (Better than last year, though, which is a start.)

...Oh yeah, and I'm a senior now? Which is. We're more than halfway through the year and I'm still not quite sure that's true. Everyone keeps telling me it is, though, so? But otherwise things are the same. I disappear for absurd lengths of time, I make random nonsensical updates. It's cool. Hopefully I will have actual entries coming in the future, but until then! Hi, LJ. Hope you didn't miss me too much.

How to Have a Perfect Weekend:

--Play the piano while no one's around to hear you.
--At least an hour of Guitar Hero. Maybe two.
--Watch the new Big Time Rush with your sister and your dog.
--Catch up on Psych; observe much sexy karate and Lassie and Gus tapdancing and a crazy hot lab assistant named Tanya who is, basically, the same as your Tanya, oh god Psych what is this.
--Watch an episode of Brotherhood you've been waiting for.
--Maybe (possibly) fall a little bit in love with Ed/Ling.
--Assemble a fanfiction meme instead of sleeping, and remember why you love fic so much.
--Realize that your favorite Ouran fic ever has a sequel now, and read it at two in the morning with vague and futile attempts not to make terrible emotional Ouran-ish choking noises.
--Send fic to artemisrampant and fall asleep around 3:30 waiting for her reply.
--Wake up at 8:30 the next morning after some very strange dreams, realize your room is bright and the window is open and it's not worth the effort to go back to sleep, and have the house to yourself for two glorious hours.
--Spend the entire day magnificently tormented by images of droplets of water between Tamaki's shoulderblades, and humming Tsumetai Yoru to yourself, and repeating the phrase "galaxy-drowning love" over and over and over.
--Stand on top of the tallest rock in Stage Fort Park and sing Into the Fire and God Knows as loud as you feel like it.
--Eat a frigging goddamn delicious burger, CHRIST.
--Think too much and too little. Don't worry.

INTERNET, MY LOVE, I HAVE RETURNED TO YOU. Well, I wasn't really gone, as most of you know, but YEAH. LJ-POSTING. IT HAS BEEN A WHILE. Real life kind of... generally didn't go well, for a while there-- ask me if you're hugely curious, but it's really not that interesting. HOWEVER, it is summer now (thank god), and so I can tell you all stories about what has happened with my summer-type activities!

--krhenrick and x_crying_wolf_x and I beat Trauma Team! OBVIOUSLY THIS IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO BE LISTED FIRST YES. Honestly, though, not only is it by far the best game in the series, but it fixes pretty much all the problems I had with the previous entries. Well, not really "problems" exactly, but the thing about Trauma Center is I like the conceit, and it's always fun to play with friends, but it's more than a little ridiculous. And unlike Phoenix Wright, which takes the ridiculousness and runs with it (and gives you a hugely engaging cast of characters to boot), Trauma Center takes itself intensely seriously. TT doesn't do away with that entirely (I'm looking at you, Naomi, though it's somewhat more forgivable with forensics), but it's not afraid to have fun and to actually be funny on its own terms. Also, it's not afraid to give its characters actual personalities. AND OH MY GOD TRAVIS WILLINGHAM

--chevy_the_geek and I went to Canobie Lake and talked to a coconut. This is totally normal behavior I don't know what you're talking about.

--AVPS EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~ :DDDDDD Watched it with krhenrick, artemisrampant, the_binksdance, spinners_grove, chevy_the_geek, hey_lookit, stella_muse, Andrea and Allie over artemisrampant's house and it was GLORIOUS. Possibly even better than the first, though goodness were we terrifying about it. THE FANGIRL SQUEALS BROKE SOUND BARRIERS, I AM PRETTY SURE but ffffff I wouldn't have wanted to watch it any other way.

--And then artemisrampant and I saw Rent at the Rep in Portsmouth! I wasn't quite sure what to expect going in but YOU GUYS IT WAS FANTASTIC. I haven't seen Rent on an actual stage before-- I've seen the movie, and I've seen the filmed version of the last performance-- but fkfjdkfjslkdfj it was fantastic and riveting and beautiful and oh god you guys, oh god. What You Own is one of the most intense things I've ever seen EVER, OH GOD. This has kind of become my Official Headcanon Cast, you guys. (Also, I went home and wrote some terribly silly Mark!fic immediately afterwards yessssss)

--We went into Salem for thepov's birthday and that was an awesome time as well! We saw Inception, which I loveded, and I ate a delicious crepe, which I also loveded, and we went into Harrison's and somehow I bumped into the right clerk because he showed me pretty much EVERY SINGLE SOUL EATER THING YOU COULD EVER WANT IN THE WORLD. I was v. depressed that I didn't have enough money to buy everything because eeee eeeeee eeeeeeee <3333333

--And, you know. Lots of hanging around the house and hanging out with others &etc. &etc. ALSO LOTS OF DEGRASSI, AS chevy_the_geek WILL ATTEST

There are a handful of fictional scenes where no matter how prepared I am for them, no matter how many times I see them, I still burst into tears every single time. Remus holding Harry back in OotP is one of them.

This episode of FMA is another.

I just... I know it's going to happen. I am well and fully 100% aware of what's going to happen. And I still start whimpering at my TV, I still start telling him no no no don't do that like he's actually going to listen to me this time, and I still wind up a blubbering mess on the floor by the time it's done.

EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Goddammit all to hell, FMA. I wish I knew how to quit you. And the really terrible thing is Brotherhood knows you know it's going to happen. Brotherhood always knows you know it's going to happen, but here they played it to especially painful effect.

Anywaaaaays I am leaving on the Big College Tour tomorrow, so there's that, and it's my birthday on Monday, so there's THAT, and I should really get to bed.

ANIME BOSTON.

...KIND OF ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING DAYS OF MY ENTIRE LIFE

HOW AMAZING WAS IT? LET ME TELL YOU ~~IN SONG~~

So! Friday night at around 7:30 stella_muse and I went over artemisrampant's house. We hung out a bit, watched Sherlock Holmes, which was STILL AWESOME, and then when we were done around 11:15 Funimation happened to be on. We spent five minutes watching Nabari No Ou and pointing out the voice actors we knew, AND THEN we realized that Ouran was on at 11:30. WELL WE OBVIOUSLY COULD NOT LET AN OPPORTUNITY FOR OURAN PASS US BY so we wound up staying up until midnight and then waking up around six the next morning. SO THAT WAS SUPER TALENTED

BUT ANYWAYS

We drove in singing along to the entirety of the AVPM soundtrack, found the convention center (there were cosplayers outside, it was kind of hard to miss), got in line, found out we were in the wrong line, walked around the hotel to the right line, and then waited for an hour. WE MET SOME AWESOME COSPLAYERS WHILE WE WERE WAITING, THOUGH. There was an AVPM!Draco with a Care Bears lion!Rumblerore, and when we saw her and squeed she said, "DID SOMEONE SAY DRACO MALFOY~?"

And then we paid and got badges and got inside! :DDDD AND THE AWESOMENESS DID NOT CEASE. IT DID NOT. I have pictures of cosplayers at the end but DUUUUUDES. SO MANY FREAKING AWESOME COSPLAYERS, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. We realized the Artists' Alley and such didn't open for another hour, so we kind of wandered aimlessly and did not stalk people at all. BUT THEN at 10:00 we went to the Alley and AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

There was a set of Companion Cube jewelry up for auction, that might have been my favorites. But there were prints from EVERYTHING. INCLUDING TF2 prints, which Artemis and I were both delighted by. <3333
ARGH. SO INTENSE.

Then, after the Artists' Alley, it was J. Michael Tatum time.

He is just. So sweet and so funny and so charming and so articulate, I seriously could not stop giggling the whole time we were in there. He told the fabulous story of how he got into voice acting: apparently he was friends with Christopher Bevins for a while, and when they started doing Samurai 7 he said that he wanted him to come audition for a part. And J. Michael Tatum apparently did not want to at first, but he got coerced into it, and then after about three or four hours of recording he asked if this was really what their audition process was like, geez, and Christopher Bevins said, "Congratulations. You got the part and we just recorded the first five episodes."

AND J. MICHAEL TATUM WAS LIKE WHAT

And he said a whole bunch of Kyoya lines and other lines and he talked for a while about how awesome it was to record Scar because he's a total FMA nerd but THE MOST AWESOME PART

started when a couple of girls asked him what a drunk Kyoya would be like. And he had to think about it for a minute, and then he decided: "I think Kyoya would be the kind of drunk who tells everybody exactly what he thinks of them. He'd be sitting there, with his gin and tonic in his hand, and he'd be like, 'Tamaki. Tamaki, I need to tell you something. You are so incredibly stupid, do you realize that? You are insane, and thick-skulled, and you... I don't even... you are just nuts. I don't-- I don't even know how you look yourself in the mirror every morning. Except yes, I do, because you have such very... pretty... eyes. ...I need another drink.' And then he would pass out on the couch and the twins would draw things on his face."
AND THEN LATER a couple of twins with a Tamaki plushie asked him what the nicest thing and the meanest thing Kyoya could ever say to Tamaki was, and he said, "The nicest thing? ...Well, he'd have to be drunk again, but... happy-drunk. Strawberry daiquiri-drunk. Shhh, you people are too young to know what that is, stop cheering. I think... the nicest thing he could say to him would be just to turn to him and say, 'You know what? Thank you. Because I understand all this now.'
...And then the meanest thing would probably be to call him an idiot but hey, he does that all the time anyways!"
AND THEN AND THEN someone else asked him about his thoughts on yaoi. To which he responded, "Um, I plead the fifth? If by 'plead the fifth' you mean IT'S AWESOME? :D I'm not quite a Kyoya/Tamaki fan, though, and I know everyone has their opinions but my personal favorite Ouran yaoi pairing is Kyoya with one of the twins. Either one, really, because I think they'd both be interesting pairings in their own ways. They could switch off. Kaoru could be his Wednesday wife. But my reasoning for not really getting into Kyoya/Tamaki is... well, Kyoya obviously has a huge crush on Tamaki. I mean, come on. He's got the blond hair and the very pretty eyes and it's just... it's pretty obvious. But he recognizes that it wouldn't work; their social status kind of prevents them from doing anything, their families wouldn't approve, and he knows Tamaki's reaction would be along the lines of, 'Wait, what? I.. I don't-- what-- how does-- I-I-I... what does that even mean? D:'" And then later, in response to a question about what his favorite Ouran het pairing was, he said, "I know it's popular and I know it's obvious, but I really love Tamaki/Haruhi. They just balance each other out so well, and they really fill in the missing pieces of each other, and I think that's why Kyoya would be willing to say, 'Alright, you can have him.'"

After ~J. Michael Tatum~ we got some lunch, and then we went on to the Dealers' Room! Which was... kind of overwhelming! THERE WAS SO MUCH STUFF AND I WANTED TO BUY ALL OF IT but I forced myself to resist. I only bought... one thing there, I think. SEE LOOK HOW MUCH WILLPOWER I HAVE. But there was a Roy plushie that omg. It was seriously the cutest thing I've ever seen.

And then from there we went to see Greg Ayres! My god that man is adorable. <3 He just has such a cute voice, and his cat ears and his blue hair it's just EEE. Greg Ayres. SADLY HE DID NOT GO OFF ON A SERIES OF TANGENTS ABOUT MY OTP OR I WOULD POST THEM HERE FOR YOU but it was still wonderful. Also he hearts Lady Gaga (Or Lady Gaygay, whatever floats your boat.)

Kaylee tells me this is Kenpachi and Yachiru-- I mostly just recognized them as two characters from Bleach but OH MY GOODNESS THEY ARE SO CUTE. He carried her around like that for a good chunk of the day, it was adorable as anything.

27. Along similar lines, do appearances play a big role in your stories? Tell us about them, or if not, how you go about designing your characters.

Um... yes and no? XD There are some characters I start out with a very specific mental image for, and then some I just kind of wing it; some I start out with a good amount of physical description for them and some I don't. I usually don't spend a ton of time going into huge amounts of detail about appearances-- I write what the POV character would notice based on the circumstances, and then I let some other details fall into place when it seems appropriate. And then there are times, of course, when I'm trying to use physical description to convey a specific idea about the character's personality-- like how Cadence's appearance is always careful and planned and meticulous, or how Juliet tends to randomly dye her hair different colors and goes through a dozen different fashion phases a week. Those kinds of things I note.

28. Have you ever written a character with physical or mental disabilities? Describe them, and if there's nothing major to speak of, tell us a few smaller ones.

Not really? Unless you're defining mental disorders as "disabilities" here, in which case Nathaniel is kind of a violent sociopath so that probably counts. And Luke might too, now that I think about it, though I'm not quite sure just what his deal is. Besides that, Mark and Lydia are probably the least stable, though they're both just kind of... strange and emotionally retarded.

29. How often do you think about writing? Ever come across something IRL that reminds you of your story/characters?

ONLY ALWAYS. Especially when it comes to fandom, oh god-- as most of you are pretty well aware, I think about fandom. All. The. Time. EVERYTHING IS FANDOM TO ME, IT'S LIKE A DISEASE.
And, yes, I think about my own stories as well. Psych class tends to make me think about Tyler and co. all the freaking time, though I guess that's kind of a neurology-centric story so it makes some amount of sense. XD Like Artemis, I tend to go through random phases with my characters-- I've had this Screnzy duo kind of stuck in my head for a while now, and oh god do not even get me STARTED with Katelyn and Juliet. And then sometimes I'll be listening to a song or something and my writerbrain will just be like "HEY
HEY ARE YOU LISTENING
THIS IS TANYA'S FAVORITE SONG"
(It's "Friday I'm in Love," for the curious~)

25. Do any of your characters have pets? Tell us about them.

GRIFFIN HAS DRAGONS, DO THOSE COUNT? :D Well, he sees them more as companions than pets, but the point still stands. Two young dragons, one reddish-brown and one gray, who he calls Amber and Icepick because... he's twelve and not very good at naming things. XD They love him, though. Other than that, there aren't really any pets who play a major role in the story-- Tyler doesn't have any because his parents are allergic, Tomiko has a standoffish cat, Cadence had a bunny who ran away when she was seven, and Lydia has a dog who she suspects might be an government spy or at least some kind of werewolf but she's Lydia and she suspects that of everyone.

Though since I've been watching Buffy, it makes me really really REALLY want to give Katelyn and Juliet (or maybe Liss and Tanya) a kitty because WHAT IS CUTER THAN FLUFFY LESBIANS

26. Let's talk art! Do you draw your characters? Do others draw them? Pick one of your OCs and post your favorite picture of him!

Good god, I WISH I could draw. I WOULD DRAW THESE PEOPLE LIKE CRAZY, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. Also I always mean to request them on I WILL TOTALLY DRAW YOUR CHARACTER NaNo threads, but I always forget. The most I have are a few reallllllly sketchy character designs for Miko, Mark, Neyane, Griffin, and... Juliet, I think. If someone wants to learn how to draw and draw my characters I would not be opposed!

Also today I was writing fanfiction instead of doing math because, hello, what else do you expect me to do during math class, and I came up with a list. A VERY EXCITING list. I know most of you have already seen it but HERE IT IS ANYWAYS.

23. How long does it usually take you to complete an entire story—from planning to writing to posting (if you post your work)?

OH MY GOD DO NOT EVEN ASK ME THAT QUESTION. XD It will just. It will just end in tragedy, trust me. Pretty much the only stories I have that are actually completed are oneshots that I thought of in a day or two and then typed in one go-- everything long-term is still in various states of completion. None of them, of course, being even remotely close to the "complete" part. SO UM. BASICALLY FOREVER.

24. How willing are you to kill your characters if the plot so demands it? What's the most interesting way you've killed someone?

I... I seriously cannot kill people. I mean I just. I can't do it. Antagonists, yes, if they absolutely need to be-- but even that I'm pretty hesitant on. Part of it is that I don't tend to write stories that would require people to be killed, part of it is that I don't trust my own ability to write a good death scene, part of it is that I think death is becoming kind of overused in fiction anyways and sometimes tends to lose part of its meaning (though not always, obviously)... but the vast majority of it is the fact that I cannot bring myself to kill any of my characters. ;_; I LOVE (most of) THEM TOO MUCH TO EVER DO THAT

22. Tell us about one scene between your characters that you've never written or told anyone about before! Serious or not.

Well slightly related to that I have an awful lot of headcanon involving the fact that Tanya tends to attract barfights. She has this habit, see, when she's bored and when Liss isn't around, of going to a random bar and flirting shamelessly with whatever drunk guy she can find... and then, when he finally tries to make a move, telling him in the most appalled voice possible that she has a GIRLFRIEND, GEEZ. And then if she gets really bored she'll try to start a fight and then come home drunk and beaten up and Liss is like WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU DDD:

Most of Katelyn and Juliet would fall under this category too, considering I haven't actually written most of what I have planned for them down yet. I should probably do that at some point, huh.

21. Do any of your characters have children? How well do you write them?

Considering most of my major characters are teenagers, this would be a no. XD I mean, Cadence is Damien's daughter, but she's far more important to the story than he is. (And then Tanya and Elisabeth kind of become her adopted parents but really they're more like... cool aunts, or something.) And Lionel's kind of Griffin's adopted dad, I guess, but again, Griffin's a more major character than Lionel is.

ANYWAYS. I am trying to plan Screnzy because whaaaaaaaat we have less than two weeks left. WHAAAAAAAAAAAT.
HERE IS WHAT I AM THINKING.
IDEA 1 involves Kristopher, an aspiring photographer who over the course of the past few years has switched his focus to ~paranormal~ photography. He's decent at it, but his family absolutely does not approve. He's on the scrawny side, talks a lot, and also snarks a lot to mask his numerous private insecurities. His NAMELESS COMPANION (who shall not remain nameless, I just seriously have not found his name yet) is tall, dark, and quiet. He has an awesome trenchcoat which may or may not be of some significance, as well as a ~mysterious past~. Also, he cares an awful lot about Kris, though he'll be damned if he'd ever show it. The two meet on a plane on the way to an up-and-coming paranormal hotspot, which Kris is looking to photograph and which Still Nameless Quiet Guy... well, he has something to take care of there but he won't say what. And then they have paranormal adventures! Possibly involving ghosts and/or werewolves and/or zombies and ~people in danger~ because that's what I do. Also they meet more characters, some of whom MAY EVEN BE FEMALE. At the moment the most likely thing is that they will get there and then get trapped there with some other people and it will be kind of like a less-intense Silent Hill, ooooohhh~

SO THOUGHTS? COMMENTS? THIS IS ALL SUPER TENTATIVE SO YOU KNOW. If it doesn't work out my fallback is doing something with Katelyn and Juliet (<3) because I am suddenly curious what they would be like as a stage play, and if THAT doesn't work I am saying SCREW IT and I am writing ECHO SAVES THE INTERNET (along with all her friends). IT WOULD BE SPASTIC AND SELF-INDULGENT AND I WOULD NOT EVEN CARE.

20. What are your favorite character interactions to write?

XDD Anyone who's been around me for more than ten minutes is probably already aware of my favorite TYPE of character interaction to write, particularly fanfic-wise, and that is the extremely close male/male friendship where the two characters are complete opposites and get on each other's nerves all the time but secretly they care about each other more than anything. I usually kind of ship them. Specific examples? Uh, Remus and Sirius. Maes and Roy. Caius and Al. Miguel and Tulio. Tamaki and Kyoya. You know the drill.

As far as specific examples in my writing go? Elisabeth and Tanya get another mention here-- they are so quirky and flirtatious and they complement each other really excellently. ("Hey, Liss, where do we keep the kinky bondage restraints?" "...Check the bottom drawer in the closet." "GOT IT.") Also, Griffin and Mark are fun in that Griffin is just :DDDDD at him constantly and Mark's like as;ldfkja;sdf I hate kids >( but secretly he is a big old emotionally retarded protective big brother. Which, Tomiko will point out, is probably not the best thing for Griffin, but OH WELL.
Also Cadence and Lydia are just so fabulously bitchy at each other, it is wonderful. <3

(Also hey yo I've got one of these crazy things and so if you want to mosey on over there and ask me a question I would not be opposed.)

19. Favorite minor that decided to shove himself into the spotlight and why!

Well... there are a couple routes one could take with this question. XD My favorite minor characters are almost-probably-definitely Tanya and Elisabeth, but they don't quite fill these requirements because I'd say, for the most part, they were always as significant as I'd intended them to be. SO ON THAT NOTE I'll go with Cassie, who was originally literally just a throwaway detail in Damien's backstory, but who I decided was way too interesting a throwaway detail to be ignored. AND I WAS VERY HAPPY I DIDN'T IGNORE HER because she wound up being very interesting, and a total badass, and someone Tyler very much needed to have in his life. So there is that. <3
Also, Katelyn and Juliet might count here, considering I originally planned them to be a fluffy little oneshot in Exit 51 and they wound up TAKING OVER MY LIFE, geez. >( I love you two, though.

I will tell you what! IT RAINED LIKE CRAZY UP IN HERE, THAT IS WHAT. But that isn't even the interesting part. Because of the crazy-ass rain, pretty much every street in the area flooded-- and because every street in the area flooded, we got dismissed early on Monday. :D AND THEN WE HAD THE DAY OFF TODAY even though it wasn't announced until I was ALREADY AWAKE which was a lame thing. But! Days with no school are still the best kind of days, so.

17. Favorite protagonist and why!

Surprise, surprise, it's Tyler again. Hi sweetie. <3 A lot of it is probably that he was my first male protagonist at a point when I was realizing that I was kind of madly in love with male characters, and especially quiet woobies like Tyler, and a lot more of it is probably, again, this huge freaking thing I have for existential metahuman angst, especially when it comes from... well, from a quiet male woobie like Tyler, BUT. He turned out extremely enjoyable to write, and he developed far, far more of a personality outside of just fulfilling my fangirl dreams-- he made himself known without ever being uncooperative. And he's a total sweetheart.

18. Favorite antagonist and why!

Sadly, one thing I find I've kind of failed in so far is having really good antagonists-- not intentionally, of course, but out of the antagonists I've needed none have really established themselves as people I've been in love with. I'm still working on Damien to make him a bit less... a bit less Gant, I don't really count Luke as an antagonist, so that leaves... Nen and Nathaniel, and out of the two of them I'm not quite sure who I like better. Nen's a pretty fabulous power-crazed femme fatale, but Nathaniel... despite me being not quite solid on him yet, he's kind of interesting and tragic and absolutely nuts. SO IDK

Alsooooo I went to see Alice in Wonderland today and it was lots of fun. <3 Not perfect, by any means, but completely awesome to look at, and entirely charming at its best. Helena Bonham Carter is absolutely fabulous, ALL THE TIME, and yes Johnny Depp with his creepy Lady Gaga eyes was awesome. I felt like the whole 'verse, really, was something that could have been fleshed out more-- I seriously would have watched a movie about everyone else minus Alice. Nothing against Alice, of course, she was a darling. (And I spent the first part of the movie wondering why on earth she was so pale and she had such bags under her eyes; but then I realized that, duh, she was a Tim Burton heroine.)

ETA: Also, the preview for Tron was kind of hypnotic. I mean, it looks like it could very well be stupid-action-movie-ish, but I really like action movies and things blowing up and OH MY GOD DID YOU SEE THAT? THE... THE LIGHTS! THE SHINY! SO MUCH SHINY!

HEY I forgot to do this again for a while, awesome, self. THE FIRST THREE QUESTIONS HAVE KIND OF BORING ANSWERS, THOUGH, SO IT'S ALL GOOD.

12. In what story did you feel you did the best job of worldbuilding? Any side-notes on it you'd like to share?

Like I said, I'm not very good at worldbuilding... so I guess I'd have to say Tyler, again. It wasn't extremely in-depth, but I feel like I had some pretty interesting superpowers with interesting explanations, and there are some parts of the backstory that I was... fairly proud of. And then some things that were just kind of THERE, but you know. I definitely put more thought into it than I did with LTH.

13. What's your favorite culture to write, fictional or not?

Does steampunk count as a culture? XD Actually, no, I am terrible at writing steampunk, I can't even count that. I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA

14. How do you map out locations, if needed? Do you have any to show us?

...I really don't do maps, I'm just realizing. XD I mean, I'll plan things out in my head if need be, but I don't really find myself sketching them out.

15. Midway question! Tell us about a writer you admire, whether professional or not!

Oh my goodness where to BEGIN. Um, Joss Whedon, natch. J.K. Rowling for her dedication and her ability to create a universe. Libba Bray, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Alan Moore (as a writer, not sure I'd like to know him IRL), Jaida Jones and Danielle Bennet, Jaclyn Moriarty, UM THE LIST CONTINUES. A loooot of people.

On the nonprofessional side of things, sweetjerry's fanfic is kind of an obsession of mine right now. <3 Her grasp of character voice is just. Beautiful and astonishing. I can't even BEGIN to remember every fanfiction that ever made me burst into tears or fall on the floor laughing but uh. You guys too.
And of course-- OF COURSE-- all of my writer friends because I freaking love you guys and I am so jealous of you. I think azelmaroark deserves special mention here; Azzie, you are SO unbelievably talented and remarkable, and I think you and Flip Turn and AI are kind of the reason I keep going with this in the first place. Also artemisrampant I seriously wish I had your way with words because DAMN girl. DAAAAAMN.

16. Do you write romantic relationships? How do you do with those, and how “far” are you willing to go in your writing?

Yes I do! Canon pairings are Katelyn/Juliet, Tomiko/Peter, Tanya/Elisabeth, and Tyler/Cadence-- and you seriously do not want me to get into my list of fictional OTPs because we will seriously be here all night. Suffice it to say that I have many, and that a great number of them are yaoi. >.>
I feel like I'm... pretty decent with writing pairings? And I think I owe a lot of that to fanfiction for showing me what I personally like, what's interesting, what works and what doesn't, that kind of thing. I... guess I never really put much thought into how "good" I am with romantic relationships before, because it's gotten to the point where I kind of write them like any other character interaction and I REALLY like writing character interactions SO.

And I am awful at writing sex. So, so, SO awful at it. I usually choose not to and that hasn't presented a problem for me-- Peter and Miko aren't going that far anytime in the near future, Tanya and Liss are minor enough that it wouldn't present an issue, and sex with Tyler is... a whoooooole other issue, poor thing. D: Fanfiction-wise, I just... you know, don't write it.
...I might have to do something if I actually do wind up doing more for Katelyn and Juliet, though. I WILL BURN THAT BRIDGE WHEN I COME TO IT.

ALSO! Yesterday morning I finished Ace Attorney Investigations and it was FABULOUS. FABULOUS FABULOUS. The only bad thing, for me, was that the very end felt... fairly anticlimactic, especially since there was a scene earlier in the case which was both more exciting and more emotionally significant-- I almost wish they switched that up and used that for the finale, but I realize that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. IT WOULD MEAN WE GOT TO SEE MORE OF DETECTIVE BADD THOUGH <333
Otherwise, the graphics/gameplay/soundtrack are excellent, the cases were mostly pretty interesting, it was difficult but not TOO difficult, and all the nods to past games/character cameos/what-have-you were obviously incredibly fanservicey but I didn't even CARE. :D And the new characters were fun as well.
...Though I would like to point out that the timeline here is... kind of ridiculous. XD I MEAN, Miles solves five murders, a kidnapping, a string of high-prestige burglaries, and an international smuggling ring OVER THE COURSE OF THREE DAYS. Not to mention gets himself in all kinds of trouble, way to be there, Miles.

11. Who is your favorite character to write? Least favorite?

Well, I don't have any characters I dislike writing-- partly because I write for fun and if I don't want to write someone I usually won't, but also because I'm well aware of the fact that if I hate writing it, other people will probably hate reading it. But I do like writing some people more than others, so. Cadence is definitely one of my favorites-- she's just really fascinating for me, and I feel like her voice comes very naturally. On a slightly less serious note, ~Tanya and Elisabeth~ and their sexy sexy flirting never fail to amuse me. I TEND TO PUT THEM IN A SCENE WHENEVER I GET BORED. Also Juliet because you know. Juliet. <3

I have some difficulty with Lydia, because I feel like I tend to not make her as crazy as she should be-- I've been focusing more on the violent-tsundere aspect of her personality than the Luna Lovegood part. I also have issues with Tomiko and Peter because neither of them really share as much about themselves as I would like, and I am still trying to get Nathaniel right.

FANFIC-WISE. Uh, the Marauders. Remus especially--he's the one I've had the most practice with-- but I love writing all of them. Franziska, of course. I will say that when I first started RPing, I was incredibly surprised by how well Franziska just clicked with me, almost instantly. Actually, most of the PW cast, particularly as a group-- Maya and Mia/Diego, in our happy funtiems AU where Mia and Diego are together forever shut up, are particularly fun, but I still do love Phoenix and Gumshoe and Miles and, hell, everyone. As difficult as he is, I also love love LOVE to write Kyoya. LOVE. And pretty much the whole club. And the entire Firefly cast. AND ROBIN even though Robin is not my favorite TT character by a long shot, he's really really fascinating to write, and he's especially fascinating in high school AU mode. I also have an alarming amount of fun with scary villains, that's probably not a good thing. XD BELLATRIX AND GREYBACK AND DRUSILLA AND THEM I think it's because I like to be mean to my favorite characters but you know.
I guess what I really enjoy is writing interactions between characters, as opposed to just writing characters-- I mean, I can totally write a fic about one person and love it, but it's when I have a relationship or a group dynamic that I really really adore that writing tends to get the easiest, and the most fun.
Least favorite characters to write? Uh. Well, I'd say characters that I don't like or that are boring, but... I don't really write anything about characters I don't like or that are boring, I DON'T LIKE THEM AND THEY'RE BORING. There are some characters where it's kiiiind of tricky to get their voice right, but I like them enough to manage-- OH YOU KNOW WHO *IS* REALLY HARD TO WRITE THOUGH

I mean, it's pretty easy to say "okay so here's Kid RAWR SYMMETRY RAWR OCD BLAAAAAAAAGH" but getting his voice and his thought patterns when he's not in symmetry-spasm mode is. Really surprisingly difficult.

In other news, I am nearing the end of Case 5 of AAI and OH MY GOD DETECTIVE BADD I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. <3 He is just. Such a badass, it's fantastic. And I'm pretty sure I haven't fallen in love with a PW character this fast since Jake, wow. Also, Lang. LAAAAAAANG. I was kind of iffy about him, but he's just... so fascinating. I think I might be a little bit in love.

Here are the past three days, to catch up:

8. What's your favorite genre to write? To read?

That. That is a hard one to answer. :|a I guess I tend to gravitate more towards realistic fiction and... fairly grounded fantasy/sci-fi, if that makes sense. Something like the Tyler project, which has ~psychics~ but takes place very much in our world, I can handle fairly well. But more elaborate stuff... as much as I love worldbuilding, as much as I love love LOVE everything that goes into making a country or a society or a world from scratch (and I do)... I am not terribly good at it. I'm working, of course, but for now I tend to start smaller and work from there. Also I mentioned this to the_binksdance but I am INCREDIBLY gay for looking at how fictional things affect our world-- like how I spent several overlong emails discussing the potential social implications of people turning into weapons, or how one of my favorite parts of Runaways is when Karolina mentions she took History of Masked Crime as an elective because asd;lfksajdf;ksla that is just SO AWESOME.
Also I guess I tend to write YA but I think more than anything that's because, well, that's my age group. PERHAPS I SHALL CONTINUE IN THE FUTURE, ONLY TIME SHALL TELL.

Reading... I am so, so, so not picky. I will pick up almost anything that looks interesting, and I will read it. I used to be waaaay into high fantasy when I was younger, but now... I'll still read it if it looks cool, but I don't really go seeking it out. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS NOT AN ESPECIALLY INTERESTING ANSWER.
What makes a book look interesting? A good hook. An intriguing plot summary. An interesting first few pages. An author I know. ALSO anything involving my less-than-secret literary kinks like kidnapping or subverted gender roles or EXISTENTIAL METAHUMAN ANGST. That is where Tyler comes from, I think, and it makes me feel smarter than saying SUPERPOWERS GOOD. (Especially werewolves, omg. I will kill people for a good, angsty werewolf book.)

I AM A NERD AND I WILL READ ANYTHING, NEXT QUESTION.

9. How do you get ideas for your characters? Describe the process of creating them.

Huh. That's, again, a tough one, because they come from all kinds of different places; though (probably like most of my writer friends) I don't create them quite as much as they create themselves. XD Some of them announce their presence without much provoking-- hi, Juliet, I see you there-- and some of them require a bit more thought. I was having some issues with Tomiko until a couple chapters in, when she made a Buffy reference to a random stranger and felt kind of embarrassed for it. She opened up a bit after that, and then she started taking the story in entirely different directions than what I was planning, which, sure, Miko, whatever. With Cadence I had an idea of the role I wanted her to play, but it took the single detail of the amount of attention she paid to her appearance for the pieces to fall into place. (She, also, drew some inspiration from other characters-- I could not stop picturing her as Quinn in my head.) A lot of Tyler's personality was based on his abilities, on how exactly being able to read minds changes a person, but a lot more of it was built up in layers he'd tell me about. He's claustrophobic, for example. And Nathaniel, the heartless bastard, lazed around as an irrational sociopath until Week Three of NaNo, when he casually told me his entire backstory just as I was about to fall asleep. THANKS FOR THAT, DUDE.

10. What are some really weird situations your characters have been in? Everything from serious canon scenes to meme questions counts!

I stuck everyone in a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE for a meme once, that was a blast. :D Well, not a blast for them, because, you know, zombies, but a blast to write.
...Although that's probably the weirdest, they've all gotten into some pretty crazy stuff. Peter's been to basically every 'verse ever, Miko, Mark, and Neyane are fighting mythological demons in a Stereotypical Medieval Elf World, and Tyler and co. are poking around paranormal research labs. Also getting their asses kidnapped because THAT'S HOW THEY ROLL. Trufax.
