The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

Mississippi is voting on November 8th on whether to pass Amendment 26, the "Personhood Amendment". This amendment would grant fertilized eggs and fetuses personhood status.

Putting aside the contentious issue of abortion, this would effectively outlaw birth control and criminalize women who have miscarriages. This is not a good thing.

Jackson Women's Health Organization is the only place women can get abortions in the entire state, and they are trying to launch a grassroots movement against this amendment. This doesn't just apply to Mississippi, though, as Personhood USA, the group that introduced this amendment, is trying to introduce identical amendments in all 50 states.

What's more, in Mississippi, this amendment is expected to pass. It even has Mississippi Democrats, including the Attorney General, Jim Hood, backing it.

The reason I'm posting this here is because I made a meager donation to the Jackson Women's Health Organization this morning, and I received a personal email back hours later - on a Sunday - thanking me and noting that I'm one of the first "outside" people to contribute.

So if you sometimes pass on political action because you figure that enough other people will do something to make a difference, make an exception on this one. My RSS reader is near silent on this amendment. I only found out about it through a feminist blog. The mainstream media is not reporting on it.

If there is ever a time to donate or send a letter in protest, this would be it.

What to do?

- Read up on it. Wake Up, Mississippi is the home of the grassroots effort to fight this amendment. Daily Kos also has a thorough story on it.

- If you can afford it, you can donate at the site's link.

- You can contact the Democratic National Committee to see why more of our representatives aren't speaking out against this.

Blah. It has been a trying few days. I don't know why, particularly, because I haven't really done anything in a few days besides work. Work and work some more. I added a little to the werewolf fic I'm working on for inception big bang because slavefic is way too long to happen, and opened the wips that I did for a charity thing that I can't remember anymore. I don't write for bandom anymore, and it's hard for me to get excited about MCR's new CD drop because of that interview of Gerard's.

Don't get me wrong; if someone else can still fan them and enjoy them, then that is fantastic for them. I don't begrudge anyone their fandom interests or their squee, but, for me personally, I was already pretty put off by some of their twitters and then ladyboy and that just... brought up shit for me. I'm been ruminating for a good long while about that and wasn't sure if I was going to say anything but what the hell.

Blah. I want to see Harry Potter again. :( Privilege Denying Dude got suspended from Tumblr for "copyright violation." Because no other meme on the history of tumblr has used a photo that might be a copyright violation. I do have to wonder why they chose that tumblr, though. It was probably because it was "racist against white people."

Still not over the Rapunzel rename. Why can't princesses be kickass and have their own names in the marquee? Why is a nearly 300mil haul a bad thing to Disney? Why are we constantly told that movies-staring-minorities can't be enjoyed by the majority, e.g. Tangled. I loved the idea of making Rapunzel a lot less :( save me in her movie, but the fact that they've retooled the concept to make sure the male hero is Also Awesome And Maybe More So Than That Girl makes me think that this is a movie I am going to skip and watch when it comes out on Redbox.

And now I'm talking about the HPrpg game that I cannot run or think about running because those games are time suckers, but I want to write it out a little because I'm crazy.

I'm really into the way that, even after revealing that Dumbledore was gay, JKR went out of her way to make sure that everyone in the universe was absolutely straight. The only characters besides Dumbledore who aren't really defined are Charlie, who loves his dragons more than girls, which implies that he probably is straight to JKR and thus we should accept it in canon. Which means there is a lot of queer erasure going on in the wizarding world.

I guess what I would want to run is a more social game based on that idea, because it is proven that after major wars are won, there is a severe uptick in good old "traditional values." Obviously, this would be completely disregarding the epilogue. I would want a game that has a Perez Hilton-esque kind of bully outing the celebrities that zi can, because while there is a push for the traditional "get married and spawn" values, there is also a reaction against that within some cross-sections of the population because it is the same old "breed pure" nonsense with a new spin. I want big splashy essays with speculation about Ron and Harry and/or Harry and Hermione and/or Ron and Hermione. (And maybe there's a little truth to all of it, because they are ot3ing it up, but they can't say that because of the backlash they'd face if the world knew the Boy Who Lives was poly.)

Also, I think Muggles know about wizards at the end of DH? If the Muggles know and they're reacting angrily to the wizards basically pissing all over the country, the whole "get married! have babies!" would deliberately leave out those angry muggles.

If they don't know, they should. That's where I want the second part to come in; I want to see a lot of fighting and reacting from the muggle world trying to get everything going. I want a ton of prophet posts and columns being produced, with some old strains of anger building up in the background. They're trying to rebuild their world while Muggles are like ...this needs to be controlled and contained.

I don't honestly remember if any of this is a retread of l/ex, I'm sure some of it is, but I love that idea of people trying to settle into a good and honest peace after losing everything, but they can't rest because now they're facing tensions from within that they forgot and tensions from the outsiders that they never thought would strike them or could strike them.

TL;DR for that: More blowing shit up. *\o/* More running from cameras because people will know about you and your ~secret romance. Like everyone who was a hero in that last battle is being followed now. They just want to mourn but instead, the Prophet has gone all SECRETS REVEALED: TENSION AT ALL TIME HIGH BETWEEN WEASLEY FAMILY with a lot of rubbish about how the weasleys are all fighting again and George is sleeping his way through the Leaky Cauldron and squandering the Wheezes money on Muggle Potions.

Also, and this is horrible of me, but I just realized that DH made some of the hardest roles to fill post-HBP or in general (Tonks, Remus, Weasley Twins, Moody) easier to get people to sign up for. Everyone loves angst. ...:D?

I finished my first PhD application! All applications are about the same, so once you have one, the others are a lot easier. I'm submitting "Rumble of Passing Boxcars" and "Turning to Sea Foam." Technically Sea Foam is a prose poem, but I think it reads like a story so w/e w/e. If USC doesn't approve me for a fee waiver, I'm going to have to pretend it never happened. :( It's kind of crushing, tbh. But it's 85$ which is almost twice as much as the rest. Sadly it is also the best. :(

First, thank you so much for being awesome and agreeing to do this challenge. Seriously, so many damn props for you.

I'm going to be pretty broad strokes about what I like first, and then we'll go into the nitty gritty of each fandom. So: I like curtain fic, supernatural fic, and coming out fic, though not in that order. It really depends on the fandom for me which is THE MOST IMPORTANT OMG, but if one of those three isn't the top, then something's weird. I really, really love angst that ends happy or at least hopeful, like the world blows up and then there's a kiss and it's okay. If you are dying to write some pregnancy fic, I love pregnancy fic. Mpreg is totally okay with me.

I think saying what I don't like would probably be helpful: I don't like high school or college AUs. I don't like apocalypse fic. I don't like rapefic or deathfic. I don't like fic with child abuse. I like angst, but more on the light h/c side of things. I don't mind people being maimed seriously as long as they are healthy and happy in the end. Steve is nearly killed and loses the ability to walk? Fine, just as long as it ends happy (his happiness does not mean that he "gets better;" he can stay disabled and be happy and have Tony.) As far as supernatural fic, I'm a little picky. I like faerie!AUs and werewolf!AUs, but Zombies are a major turn off and I'm very picky about vampires (in general, a mix between Anita Blake and Anne Rice are my favorites.) Mermaid AUs? Yes, please.

I don't like fics that have a lot of gendered insults.

As far as sex/sexuality goes: I love alwaysa____!fic. I love transfic. I love healthy sexual relationships, and kink doesn't deter me. I love het, slash, femmeslash, multiples, asexual relationships, etc. I'm not a fan of bodily fluids and excretions in my kink, though. Aside from that, you can be as kinky or as vanilla as you want.

I don't know how helpful my tumblr would be, but you can find it here. (Fair warning: I love dogs) My fic is all on hidingoutside, though it's all bandom. My delicious is here, though that is also mostly bandom with a little bit of Sherlock Holmes and Avengers mixed in.

If you still aren't sure, sinuous_curve would be an amazing resource. I make hir tell me stories all the time. Mostly about babies and werewolves and kink.

Now onto the categories:

Avengers

I know I said m/m on the thing, but if you want to write an epic story about Pietro and Wanda being twins and being awesome, go for it! I love their sibling relationship. They are my incest exception. If that's what your heart wants, I would love it.

If you want to write Steve/Tony, I would love you forever if you wrote something that had Steve being a little more unsure of how to do a homosexual relationship. There's a lot of fic that has Steve easily accepting his sexuality, and I would love more fic that lets his era and military service influence how he thinks about himself. And then Tony who is okay with being bisexual like water is cool being wet. \o/ Or not! One more teensy thing that I would love with this pairing that is just a thing that I think is great: if there were more sex that had Steve on the bottom. There's so much that seems like he gets to top because he's just the ~bigger guy.

If you just want to write them being BFFs, too, that is also okay! If you want to write about them coming back together after the Civil War, *\o/* If you want to ignore the Civil War, totally GO FOR IT. I'm not so in love with that that I'll cry bitterly to see it not included.

Inception RPF

Any fic about Ellen Page and/or JGL and/or Ken Watanabe would be so welcome. It can be an AU! It can be in the ~real world. They can be a werewolf, a faerie, and a warlock! It doesn't have to be about all three of them, but I would really prefer fic that includes Ellen Page. I am all about the ladies in fic right now, and Ellen Page is one of the few celebrities that has me crushing on her brain before I crush on her face. I'm leaning more towards Ellen Page/JGL in my head, mostly because Ken Watanabe has a daughter that is almost EP's age and that bothers me a little.

But I'd still read the fuck out of it.

Also, hot sex fic that is essentially PWP between any of those listed above: Also really awesome.

Hi, so I want a million coming out fics in Gargoyles. I am so enamored with the idea of Lexington being gay because he was always my favorite gargoyle forever. I want him to be learning to be comfortable with his sexuality and maybe coming out to his clan. As much as I would love so much Staghart/Lexington to happen in the fic, if Lex just gets mentored a little by Staghart and supported by him, I would love it forever omg.

So let's talk about how the research for my fanfiction paper about erasing women is going really, really well. I have three stories to write based on what happened in that fanfiction survey (which I may use for another academic paper because it was all so interesting *_____*) but I have to say.

1) Seeing someone referenced in an academic paper as my friend so and so and that being okay is so. strange. Also that I know who So and So is because she's a rather large panfandom name, but SERIOUSLY.

2. I think Henry Jenkins might be the only one who gets that it's not about why straight women write slash because queer women have always been writing male/male as well. Rather the question is why women aren't writing about women instead of focusing on why is there gay*. There's other stuff that should be explored, too. I want to marry him, guys *_____* Or at least go to Panera with him and have soup.

3. I have read the first, and really the greatest, argument that is for Mary Sues. In a law journal. It makes sense and is a good thing to me now. Teenage girls writing about a girl who happens to look just like you falling in with Arthur or Megatron or Tony Stark, you go.

guys, guys. I don't know how many of you read Topless Robot, which is often filled with weird homo/transphobia and inadvertent sexism, because Rob tries to be really careful of sexist language and also is really aware that there are lady nerds, so I understand if you don't.

But yesterday they did their Top 10 Sherlock Holmes. (Benedict Cumberbatch and RDJ didn't make the list, and I call bullshit on Benedict Cumberbatch, but Jeremy Brett is #1, so I'm not as annoyed as I could be.

Okay guys.

So last week I gave up caffeine. oh my lord you have no idea how hard it is to do grad school on no caffeine. It should be outlawed, but I have made it a week.

This week I'm going to concentrate on getting in at least 10 minutes of hardcore working out every day, even if it's just some situps or taking my bike out for a spin around the aparments.

Next week i'm going to cut out white sugar and flour, but that's the hardest of these three steps, so i'm saving it for last. If it takes me two weeks to kick it, I've already got some excellent groundwork for working out and not drinking pop like a pop drinking thing.
