post 65: look back on 2017 progress
I talked way too much in my previous progress post as see here (2016). Sorry about that, it's was my first attempt on doing an icon progress!
January
+ I started off the year doing just two posts for this month!
+ My first post was stock for a challenge for
gameofcards, and my second post was my attempted for thecw_20n20 that I couldn't finish in time, some icons for iconsomething, capicontest, moviefilmstills, and merlinstills. I really wanted to focus on bold vibrant coloring.
February
+ I had only one post for this month!
+ The post was originally used formonthlyinspo round that was theme to blue, where I tried to focus on desaturating the color, but some icons created for monthlyinspo were also to use bold coloring or softness. I also created icons for capicontest and iconsomething gray area challenge.
March
+ This month, I was really hook onto creating icons foroddlyspecificon, where I made most of these icons in Febuary but combined the icon post in March, and I forgot to post my icons created in March for oddlyspecificon, but I think I revealed on the site all (or most of my icons I created). I really enjoyed doing the negative space/hair porn theme. I also created icons for capicontest and asking a question on how to fix an icon at icontalking. I created icons for monthlyinspo.
April
+ I made icons forfemales20in20, musicians20in20, monthlyinspo, and oddlyspecificon (which I revealed now cause I forgot to before (revealed here)).
+ These posts are a combination of soft coloring, bold/vibrant coloring, cutout backgrounds, using fake backgrounds, text work, muted coloring, saturating coloring and using the right combination between light and darkness.
May
+ I created two posts for this month fortvcharacter20, monthlyinspo, and 7 icons created for capicontest and oddlyspecificon (which was revealed at oddlyspecificon).
+ I was trying new things for tvcharacter20 (like complexity, fake backgrounds, text work), and stock icons for monthlyinspo (which was bold/vibrant coloring, softness, and lighting)
June
+ This was the least productive month. I made just 5 icons foroddlyspecificon.
July
+ This was post created to reveal icons fromoddlyspecificon, the only new icon create this month was for capicontest and for redheads20in20, which I made sure to finish this round, and not drop out of it!
August
+ I created icons formonthlyinspo (costume theme) which was so much fun to do, 11 icons for merlinstills then 5 icons for oddlyspecificon and 1 for capicontest. I really love how my fake backgrounds turned out for monthlyinspo and oddlyspeificon. I love how the texture/text work came out for capicontest.
September
+ I created 10 icons for ladies10in30 at dreamwidth,females20in20, monthlyinspo, and dwstills battle. I tried being super creative for the monthlyinspo challenge.
October
+ Once again another unproductive month and created just two icons forcapicontest
+No icons were created in November or December.
Closing Thoughts
+ just noticed a half-finished historamedy claim for Reign (link here) that I probably should finish this year instead of leaving it half-complete!
+ To work on: text work (so uncomfortable with that), blocking, complexity, step out of my comfort zone for sure! Also to post more this year, and to keep better track of my icons since some of them are posted elsewhere (i.e. like on oddlyspecificon or capicontest). And to make sure to use my tags consistently!
