An invitation
Some upcoming events and an invitation to share your words of hope
Life still feels rather wild right now and I can’t keep my gaze away from what’s happening in the world. I’ve been trying to take any small actions that I can to stay connected to this beautiful planet we live on (from writing to my MP to donating, from checking in with friends to reading poems by Haia Mohammed). All the while reminding myself that there is still light in the dark and that there are still small wonders in amongst it all.
While I take a little break from co-writing, I wanted to share some events coming up this week as well as the opportunity to contribute some of your own words as part of a very special event about hope taking place this weekend.
There’s also a little reminder about the creative writing competition that I am delighted to be judging and news of other events and workshops taking place over the summer.
Thank you so much for reading.

Sowing seeds and tending to dreams
11th June | 18:30 - 20:00 | Nansledan, Newquay
I’m delighted to be running a Creative Writing Workshop as part of Nansledan Arts Festival this coming Wednesday.
From sowing word seeds to making wishes, from free-writing to flash fiction, join me for a creative writing workshop that invites you to gently tend to your dreams and start writing.
This workshop will explore how to find inspiration in the invisible and often unseen through a series of gentle and playful creative writing exercises.
Ribbons and wayfinders of hope
Saturday 14th June | From 13.30 in Tehidy Woods
I’m delighted to be running a special one-off session as part of @makeitbettercic’s A Day of Radical Reimaginings for A Better Future
What does hope look like and where can we find it?
In an age of great upheaval, unrest and change, hope can feel far away. Yet now more than ever, we need to flex our muscles of hope and use hope as a wayfinder through these turbulent times.
Join me as we create our very own Tree of Hope in the heart of Tehidy Woods. We’ll explore where we can find hope, what hope looks like for each of us and describe our own experiences of hope through words and poems. Drawing inspiration from Clootie Trees, we will create some ribbons and wayfinders of hope and decorate a tree in the woods and have some time and space to share our words of hope aloud.
You can also contribute to the Tree of Hope virtually by sharing your words with me and I will create a ribbon for you on the day.
If you want to attend in person, make sure you book a ticket for the day here.
If you want to participate virtually, please email me lucy@lucybeckley.com or reply to this email with your words of hope by Friday 13th June.
The Power of (500) Words: Flourish! Competition
I’m over the moon to be a judge on the Nansledan Arts Festival 500 words writing competition.

Whether you have some experience writing, are interested in stories and storytelling or whether you just want to try something new, each session will be welcoming and encouraging but most of all fun!
Suitable for all ages and open to all, these family-friendly workshops will include exercises for everyone with a craft-based activity for smaller ones as well.
All materials, resources and a drink will be provided.
