The title of this piece is inspired by the nocturnes by the Romantics composers of the beginning of the 19th Century. It places itself midway between a fictional soundscape and nocturnal music.
Inspired by the vitality of the nocturnal soundscapes found in the southern regions of France, this piece offers an electronic imaginary phauna to listen to; yet, even if it recreates animal sounds, this piece triggers an anti-natural reaction, some sort of bioacoustic techno.

T.O.C. is an in situ device for the acoustic activation of an architecture. It reveals the sound potential of each space in which it is installed. The exhibition space then becomes a gigantic percussion/resonance instrument on the scale of the building. This installation questions the current sound production techniques by trying to circumvent their usual modalities. Moreover, by its design with recovery materials often gleaned or found, the device tries to free itself from a form of technological tyranny of high-tech consumption.
----
Samā‘ (from Turkish semâ) refers to spiritual hearing. It also refers to a roundabout dance of Sufi whirling dervishes. ACOUSTIC SPIRAL: The performance consists of a spinning loudspeaker that release drones in order to sculpt the sound space. These continuous sounds are developed beforehand in situ, depending on the resonance of the room. The spin draws an invisible spiral with the speed and length of cable given by the performer while revealing the acoustic properties of the place.

2018
---
The performance is to explore the sound potential of a power grid. In order to do this, the artist uses microphones that capture electromagnetic fields in order to make the discharge of fluorescent tubes (neon lights) audible. Each fluorescent tube can be operated independently, thanks to an electronic board connected to a computer. Thus, by means of algorithms producing ignition sequences, these discharges become audible rhythmic processes controlled in real time by the artist-performer. The electric impulse becomes perceptible by both light and sound, in an ultra-synchronous dialogue. Electricity becomes a physical phenomenon and reshapes the space of monstration in a both synesthetic and epileptic experience.
youtube video

HOAXOPHONIE is a performance in which loud sounds can be heard propagating through the landscape, forming a sort of «acoustic aurora borealis». In this performance, the artist draws his inspiration from a sound phenomenon known as The Hum*. With this creation, he proceeds to hack the perception of sound environment.
*the Hum is a phenomenon that started to become known on Youtube a few years ago through amateur videos. Most of the time, the video shows a view of the sky, accompanied by a mysterious sound of unidentified source. The Hum is experienced as a consistent, low-pitched noise, much like the sound of a large truck idling in a nearby parking lot. It always seems to come from the sky, maybe from a gigantic divine trumpet.

Quelques exemples de description tirées de « World Hum Map and Database Project servant de partition au projet» :

12/05/2012 14:15:19
At night
A low frequency tone rough match from the piano -not quite D# or Eb which equates to approximately 41 or 82 Hz, hard to distinguish which. First heard on July 28th 2004. Initially sounded like a diesel truck, but later like an electrical drone.

12/11/2012 14:08:48
Same day and night
Usually a multiple low pitched sound that is an irregular throbbing hum that sounds like an idling engine or generator. Rarely a very loud vibrating hum, as if it were being generated by a large fleet of propeller aircraft, at high altitude, which doesn’t move - I.E. no Doppler.

12/25/2012 11:14:57
At night
Metallic-like sound, like a loud diesel engine that goes on several seconds and then stops, only to start again moments later.

12/28/2012 23:06:28
At night
A low, rumbling, pulsating sound. It goes for a count of 1-2 stop 1-2 stop then it goes for approximately 6 beats stop then linger for a lot longer.

1/1/2013 20:51:43
At night
Sounds like a pulse which increases and decreases volume. It is a low frequency sound.

1/6/2013 2:09:03
Same day and night
Very low frequency oscillating hum. It often reminds me of what a cell phone sounds like when placed near a speaker at just the ring angle. The start-stop oscillations of communicating with the cell tower is very similar. However, at times, it will be constant and steady for minutes at-a-time. It sounds like a 60hz tone in my head, very fast, constant at times, short burst at other times. Always very low, though.

1/14/2013 0:51:36
At night
about 50 to 60 hz with almost a baudot sounding pulsing. Baudot is an old mode of communications over high frequency radio.

1/14/2013 6:28:39
At night
Extra Low Frequency sounding like blowing accross a large glass bottle that keeps in a steady pattern of a heartbeat repeating consistently with a duration of any 5 letter single sylable word’s spoken length; books, books, books,,, games, games, games,,, etc.

Wendy Cornu and Lucien Gaudion propose a series of studies questioning three fundamentals: body, sound and light. Thus, the gesture sculpts the sound space, the light produces acoustic phenomena and the movements of the body generate optical illusions. These studies explore the notion of circular causality, which means that the writing of each element is interdependent, recursively.
In a constant dynamic of ebb and flow, sounds, light and the founding gesture meet and echo in a consensual interdependence, just as imaginary seas, between synchronicity and analogy.
