Hey everyone, thanks for checking out my game! I'm Loweki and I'm creating anything and everything I like. This includes, games, renders, and animations. Why not join me as I piece together a world for everyone to experience?

Neon Effect is an interactive Adult Visual Novel with dating sim and light gameplay aspects in a streamlined point-and-click environment.

In the distant future, technology towers above all. Cybernetic body enhancements (CBE) are as common as tattoos and virtually essential to get by. However, a new invention has been on the rise -- androids. Ranging from household maids to store clerks, androids have been slowly integrating into society. Welcome to New Dynamo City, the metropolis of neon lights!

This is a demo of the game so far! In its current state, you can play through a couple of days to experience the story in a stream-lined fashion with light gameplay mechanics. Outside of the visual novel portion, there's a unique sandbox environment you can explore to immerse yourself in the world of Neon Effect.

I HIGHLY suggest downloading the game despite it being in the Ren'Py engine for the best experience. I've been pushing this engine decently hard and there are a lot of moving parts and fancy graphical tricks I used that the web build can't keep up with smoothly or properly due to browser limitations.

Perhaps the location switching could be changed to a map or a list. Having to go back to the workshop every time is a bit cumbersome.

Noted! I'll play around with a map idea for a bit. If that doesn't turn out as I like, I can change it so that you don't have to return to the Workshop every time.

Really enjoying the game so far!

I’d love for the QTE feature to support WASD inputs in addition to the Arrow Keys.

I also was able to meet Abby in the alley. The dialogue suggest I already know her (“Down for another trade?”), which felt a bit confusing.

Regarding the visual novel aspects: it would be great if either the dialogue text or at least the speakers name had a unique color. At times, it wasn’t immediately clear who was speaking unless I actively checked the name. Alternatively, showing character portraits for all speakers, similar to how it’s done for the MC.

Otherwise I really love the sound design, animation work, and overall presentation. Great job so far!

Great feedback!

I'll be sure to include those changes in the next update.

Thanks for checking out the demo!

This game will always be free. I'll be updating this page as I work on future releases.

Thank you for the answer.

Is the current content completely in the browser version? seems like there is no need to download yet, depens if you keep the save or stuff.

Yes, they both have the same content. The only difference is that the downloaded version runs a lot better than the web version due to browser limitations.

Will there be a android version?

Maybe in the future. I don't have a reliable way to playtest an android version and some features would need to be reworked to be able to function without a keyboard.
