Thrifting for babies
If you’re a hand-me-downs girlie, then I’m looking at you
If I’ve seen you in person over the last few months, chances are I’ve told you my *toxic trait* is low balling people on Poshmark and paying very little for designer clothes. Sorry for the trending lingo but I’m *addicted* to saying it. I may have told you about the Lemaire jeans (like these) I bought for $80, but since I’m a #mom I’ve now cross addicted to children’s clothes. Now, maybe you’re not into wearing other people’s things, and I get that. But if you wear vintage and accept hand me downs for your children, like me, then this is for you. It is a great way to get good quality, high end clothes for kids without spending a fortune on something they’re going to wear for three months. Also a sustainable way to shop for your budget and for the planet.
In the States, I use Poshmark where I search for Makie (cute Kimono 0-3 months here, boyish set 6mo here, cashmere cardigans 12mo here and here, nb baby booties here, grey cardigan 0-3mo here, and 3mo romper here) Bonpoint, Tartine et Chocolat, Bonton (romper 6mo, cardigan 6mo, cardigan 3-6mo, jacket 6mo, shirt 12mo, cardigan 18mo, shirt 12mo), Bobo Choses (stripey romper 3mo and 6-9mo, sweater 12-18, stripey top and short set 2yr, sweater 0-3mo, denim romper 2yr).
I was recently in London and instead of shopping in stores (though I did get one cardigan from my favourite kids clothes shop Luna and Curious), at the recommendation of my sister, I turned to Vinted, the UK’s answer to Poshmark. Turns out they have a great selection of Scandi brands and woolens: Joha, Engel (3-6mo bonnet, woolen pants 9-12mo, hoodie 12-18mo), Binibamba, Angulus shoes, Alwero vest all of which I stocked up on for less than $150. Other gems right now: this petit bateau cotton romper 1-3mo, this Makie shirt 3-6mo.
My advice is simple: underbid. Sorry if you’re a seller :)
