Hello friends, family, and my brothers, and sisters in Christ.

    This is Brother Johnny Gass.

    A Tale of Two Women.

A hush fell over the royal judgment hall, and all eyes were fixed on King Solomon. His servants wondered how the young monarch would resolve this perplexing case. Two single mothers were sharing a room, and each gave birth to a baby boy at about the same time. During the night, one of the mothers had accidentally turned over and smothered her son. When she awoke early and saw her child was cold and still, the distraught woman took her roommate's sleeping baby to herself and laid her dead baby in its place. Later the other mother awoke, saw the dead baby, and began to wail with grief. But after examining the infant, she quickly realized that it was not her child. Across the room, she could see her roommate tightly clutching her baby. Now both women stood before the king, tugging for possession of the living infant. "This child is mine!" one shouted. "No, the dead baby was yours!" the other countered. How would the king determine which was the true mother? Solomon interrupted their debate and told a guard to take a sword and divide the living infant in two. At first the soldier thought the king was jesting, but Solomon began to glare at the guard's hesitation. Slowly he drew his sharp, gleaming sword and made his way toward the woman holding the baby. Suddenly the true mother threw herself at the king's feet and pleaded,?"Let her have the child, but please do not slay it!" But the other woman said, "Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it." Now Solomon knew without a doubt who was the true mother. In prophecy, a woman is a symbol of a church (Jeremiah 6:2). With so many churches in the last days, how can we distinguish the true, last-day church that has the living Son from the counterfeits? Like Solomon, we must use the sword of God's Word (Hebrews 4:12)!

    1. How does Revelation picture God's true church?

Revelation 12:1, 2, 5. A _______ clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. ... And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: In Bible prophecy, God's church is symbolized by a pure woman (Jeremiah 6:2). In Revelation 12, this woman is clothed with the sun, moon, and stars--the natural light of God's creation. Jesus told the church, "Ye are the light of the world." Matthew 5:14. The sun represents the light of Jesus (Psalms 84:11; Malachi 4:2). The moon under her feet represents the types and shadows of the Old Testament sacrificial system. As the moon reflects the light of the sun, so the sacrificial system was helpful because it reflected the light of the Messiah to come (Colossians 2:16, 17; Hebrews 10:1). The 12 stars above her head symbolize the leadership of the

church--12 tribes in the Old Testament and 12 apostles in the New Testament. The one who is to rule all nations with a rod of iron is Jesus (Psalms 2:7-9; Revelation 19:13-16).

    2. Who is the "great red dragon," and what does he try to do?

Revelation 12:9. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil, and _______.

Revelation 12:4 The dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The dragon is Satan, who at the time of Jesus' birth was working through the pagan Roman Empire. Satan influenced Herod, a ruler under Rome, to try to murder baby Jesus by killing all the infants in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:16).

    3. What happens after Satan fails to destroy Jesus?

Revelation 12:5. And her child was caught __ unto God, and to his throne.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: After His resurrection, Jesus ascended up to heaven and to God's throne (Acts 1:9-11), where He was beyond the reach of Satan.

    4. After Jesus was caught up to heaven, what did Satan do to the church?

Revelation 12:13. When the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he ________ the woman which brought forth the man child.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: When Satan could no longer vent his hatred on Jesus, he decided to hurt Jesus by turning his fury against the church.

    5. Where did the woman go during this terrifying period of persecution? How long did it last?

Revelation 12:6. And the woman fled into the _________, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The woman (God's church) fled into the wilderness (the remote places of earth) to hide from her enemies. It is a well-known historical fact that during the Dark Ages, God's people fled to the caves and solitary places of earth, including the shores of America, to seek religious freedom and protection from papal persecution. The 1,260 days (also described in the Bible as 42 months or as three and a half years) refers to the terrible 1,260-year period of persecution during which millions died for their faith. During this time period, God's church was alive but was not identifiable as an official, visible organization. (See the supplement entitled "Years of Persecution.")

    6. What are two other identifying marks of God's true church?

Revelation 12:17. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the ____________ of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: God's remnant church, into which He is calling all His people, will keep God's Ten Commandments (including the Sabbath). It will also have the testimony of Jesus, which is the spirit, or gift, of prophecy (Revelation 19:10). God calls His end-time church "the remnant," because it is identical in doctrine and characteristics to the apostolic church. A "remnant" is the last remaining portion of a bolt of cloth. It is exactly like the first piece from the same bolt.

    7. How did Jesus say that we demonstrate our love for Him?

John 14:15. If ye love me, _____ my commandments.

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we __________ his commandments.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: In our opening story, Solomon was able to identify the true mother by her genuine display of love. In the same way, God's true church will be recognized by its sacrificial love and its willingness to obey His commandments.

    8. What three angelic messages will God's end-time church be preaching?

Revelation 14:7. Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his ___________ is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Revelation 14:9, 10 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: These three angelic statements represent the three urgent messages that God's church will preach before Jesus returns.

    9. To whom will God's church preach these messages?

Revelation 14:6. Having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to _____ nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: God's end-time church will preach this great three-point message to every nation on earth.

    10. What specifications has God given in His Word to help us positively identify His end-time church?

Revelation 12:17. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the ______ of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

    1. It will appear and do its visible work after it emerges from the wilderness in 1798 (Revelation 12:6, 13-17).

    2. It will teach the same truths the apostles taught, and all of its teachings will agree with the Bible (Revelation 12:17).

    3. It will keep the Ten Commandments, including the Bible Sabbath (Revelation 12:17).

    4. It will have the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 12:17; 19:10).

    5. It will proclaim God's three end-time messages with a loud voice (Revelation 14:6-14).

    6. It will be a worldwide movement (Revelation 14:6).

    7. It will teach the everlasting gospel, which is salvation through Jesus Christ alone (Revelation 14:6).

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Many lovely Christians are members of churches that do not meet the above seven specifications. However, no such church can be God's remnant into which He is calling all His sincere children, because His end-time church must meet all seven specifications.

    11. Jesus gives you these seven prophetic identification points and then says, "Go and find My church." What does He promise regarding your search?

Luke 11:9. Seek, and ye shall ______.

    Answer : ____________________

    12. How many church organizations in the world will fit these seven points?

Ephesians 4:5. One Lord, one _____, one baptism.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Only one church in the entire world fits all of these specifications--the Seventh-day Adventist church, which is bringing you these seminar messages. It is right now preaching the great three angels' messages of Revelation 14:6-12 all over the world. Millions are responding.

    13. Many denominations call themselves Christian. Does that make them God's true church?

Isaiah 4:1. And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own _______ and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Bread is a symbol of the Word of God (John 6:35, 51, 52, 63), and apparel is a symbol of righteousness (Revelation 19:8). The seven women in this prophecy have their own bread (concept of truth) and want to keep their own clothing (righteousness). They do not want the spotless robes of Christ's righteousness. All they want is to take the name of Jesus, probably because the Bible says, "There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12.

    14. Once a person discovers God's true end-time church, is it necessary to become a member?

Acts 2:47. And the Lord _____ to the church daily such as should be saved.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Yes, membership in God's end-time church is imperative. Notice how clearly God answers this question about membership:

--We are all called into one body (Colossians 3:15).

--That body is the church (Colossians 1:18).

--We enter that body by baptism (1 Corinthians 12:13).

It is just as imperative to enter God's church today as it was to enter the ark in Noah's day. The Lord says, "Come thou and all thy house into the ark." Genesis 7:1.

    15. How many ways of escape were there in Noah's day?

Hebrews 11:7. By faith Noah ... prepared an ___ to the saving of his house.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Jesus says that the time just before His second coming will be like Noah's day (Luke 17:26). There will be only one way of escape, just as there was only one ark in Noah's day.

    16. Since there are many faithful Christians in other churches and since God has only one true remnant, what will happen to these sincere Christians?

John 10:16. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall _____ my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

Revelation 18:2, 4 Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen. ... come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Jesus will call all of His faithful, honest followers to come out of Babylon. They will hear His voice, respond, and enter His one true, end-time church.

    17. Jesus is calling you today to enter the safety of His great end-time church. You are very precious to Him. Will you respond now to His call?

    Supplemental Study

    Years of Persecution
The 1,260 years of tribulation is repeatedly mentioned in the Bible, because historically it was the worst ever to face God's people (Matthew 24:21). It is referred to as 1,260 days, 42 months, and three and one-half times, or years (Revelation 12:6, 14 13:5 Daniel 7:25). Using the Jewish calendar, which had 360 days in a year, all three add up to the same amount of time - 1,260 years. One prophetic day equals one literal year (Ezekiel 4:6 Numbers 14:34).

History clearly shows that the papacy was the power which persecuted for 1,260 years. The period began in A.D. 538, when papal power became supreme in Christendom according to the decree of Roman Emperor Justinian. In it, he acknowledged the bishop of Rome as the head of all churches. This letter became a part of Justinian's Code, the fundamental law of the empire. The period ended in 1798 when Napoleon's general, Alexander Berthier, took the pope captive. At least 50 million Christians died for their faith during this period of persecution.

    Three Crucial Points
Three facts of utmost importance to God's people are established in Revelation 12:10-12. These facts are:

    1. Jesus defeated Satan, the accuser of the brethren, at the cross.

    2. All of us can overcome him through the blood of Jesus and by sharing our testimonies.

    3. The devil is infuriated because he knows that his time is short. We cannot expect him to behave like a gentleman. He is our bitterest enemy.

The message is that Jesus, who has defeated Satan, offers His matchless power to us as a free gift. With Jesus' power in our lives, we cannot fail. Satan's fury need not affect us. He is a defeated foe. He was defeated in the war in heaven and cast out. He was defeated by Jesus at the cross and lost his dominion. He will be defeated legally in his case in the judgment, and he will again be defeated when he attacks God's holy city. Finally, he will suffer the defeat of being blotted from the face of the earth in the lake of fire. And, most wonderful of all, Jesus promises that he will be defeated in his bitter fight to destroy you and me. What a tremendous message of hope from Jesus!

  • Anointed for Service

    Scripture

    Leviticus 8:12 (NKJV)
And he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him, to consecrate him.

    Set Apart by Anointing

In this verse, Moses anointed Aaron as high priest, pouring oil on his head as a sign that he was set apart for God’s service. The anointing was not about honor or status but about being consecrated for holy work. It was God’s way of showing that Aaron belonged to Him and was empowered to minister on behalf of the people.

For believers today, this anointing points us to the work of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, every follower of Jesus is consecrated as part of a royal priesthood. We are called and equipped to serve, not in our strength, but in the power of the Spirit. Just as oil marked Aaron as chosen, the Spirit marks us as God’s own.

This verse reminds us that anointing comes with responsibility. To be set apart by God means living in holiness, obedience, and faithful service.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Do I see myself as set apart for God’s service in my daily life?

    2. Am I relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, or am I trying to serve in my own strength?

    3. How can I live in a way that reflects my calling as part of God’s royal priesthood?

    Prayer

Lord God, thank You for anointing me with Your Spirit through Jesus Christ. Teach me to live as one set apart for Your service. Fill me with Your power, guide me in holiness, and use me to minister to others for Your glory. In Jesus name, Amen.

  • In Hebrews 1:14, the author concludes a powerful argument for the superiority of Jesus Christ over the angels. By looking at the original Greek, we can see the distinct contrast between Christ (the Son who sits on the throne) and the angels (who are busy servants).
    ### Hebrews 1:14 (NKJV)
    > "Are they not all **ministering spirits** sent forth to **minister** for those who will **inherit salvation**?"
    >
    ### Key Greek Word Analysis
    #### 1. Ministering Spirits (*leitourgika pneumata*)
    * **Greek:** ฮปฮตฮนฯ„ฮฟฯ…ฯฮณฮนฮบฮฌ (*leitourgika*)
    * **Context:** This word refers to public service or priestly duty. In a biblical context, it describes those who perform sacred rites or official service in a temple.
    * **Insight:** The angels aren't just "helpers"; they are "officiants" in Godโ€™s heavenly sanctuary. Their activity is a form of worship directed toward God, even when they are helping humans.
    #### 2. To Minister (*diakonian*)
    * **Greek:** ฮดฮนฮฑฮบฮฟฮฝฮฏฮฑ (*diakonia*)
    * **Context:** This is the root for our word "deacon." It refers to practical, menial serviceโ€”like waiting on tables or providing for physical needs.
    * **Insight:** Notice the shift! They are **leitourgika** (priestly) toward God, but they perform **diakonia** (practical service) for us. They bridge the gap between the majesty of Godโ€™s throne and the mundane needs of believers.
    #### 3. Inherit (*klฤ“ronomein*)
    * **Greek:** ฮบฮปฮทฯฮฟฮฝฮฟฮผฮตแฟ–ฮฝ (*klฤ“ronomein*)
    * **Context:** To receive by lot or as a legal heir.
    * **Insight:** The use of "inherit" reminds the reader that salvation isn't something we work for (wages); it is something we receive because of our position in the family of God. We are the "heirs," and the angels are the "staff" assigned to the Kingโ€™s children.
    #### 4. Salvation (*sลtฤ“rian*)
    * **Greek:** ฯƒฯ‰ฯ„ฮทฯฮฏฮฑ (*sลtฤ“rian*)
    * **Context:** Deliverance, preservation, and safety.
    * **Insight:** In Hebrews, "salvation" often has a future-oriented focus. While we are saved now, the angels are assisting us as we navigate a dangerous world toward our final, completed inheritance in the age to come.
    ### Comparison Table: Christ vs. Angels
The author uses this verse to stick the landing on a "status" comparison that has been building since verse 5:
    | Feature | The Son (Jesus) | The Angels |
    |---|---|---|
    | **Position** | Sits at the Right Hand | Sent forth (standing/moving) |
    | **Authority** | Rules as King | Serves as Attendant |
    | **Nature** | Begotten Son | Created Spirits |
    | **Focus** | Receives Worship | Performs Service |
    ### Summary Note
The "wit" of this verse lies in its rhetorical structure. The author asks a question where the answer is so obvious it doesn't need to be stated. It puts the hierarchy in stone: **Jesus is the King on the throne; the angels are the Royal Guard looking out for the King's heirs.**

  • Today's Readings are from the Book of Numbers Chapter 24 and 25 and John 4

Overviews Are Below (PLEASE READ YOUR BIBLE: Overviews Do Not Replace Daily Reading)

    Numbers 24

Prophetic Vision and the Coming King

Numbers 24 brings Balaam’s final oracles, and the clarity increases. Balaam no longer seeks omens but speaks as the Spirit of God comes upon him. The blessings over Israel become more expansive, pointing beyond the immediate moment into future fulfillment.

He describes Israel’s strength, fruitfulness, and favor under God’s hand. But then the prophecy reaches further—a vision of a coming ruler. A star will arise, a scepter will come forth, and this king will establish dominion. The language moves from present blessing to future kingdom.

Balak’s anger grows as each attempt to curse results in greater blessing. Balaam, constrained by God, can only speak truth. God’s purposes override human schemes. Even a reluctant prophet becomes a vessel for divine revelation.

Theologically, Numbers 24 reveals that God’s plan extends beyond immediate circumstances into redemptive history. The promise of a coming King connects Israel’s journey to the larger story of salvation. God is not only preserving a people—He is preparing a kingdom.

This chapter clearly points to Christ. The star and scepter anticipate the Messiah, the true King who will reign with authority and righteousness. What is spoken here in shadow becomes reality in Jesus. He fulfills the promise of a ruler who brings ultimate victory.

For believers today, Numbers 24 strengthens hope. God’s plan is unfolding across generations. What may seem delayed is actually developing. The King has come, and His kingdom is advancing.

Together, Numbers 23 and 24 reveal the certainty of God’s blessing and the promise of His King. No curse can stand against His people, and no plan can stop His purposes. In Christ, the promised King, we stand secure in blessing and look forward to His complete reign.

    Numbers 25

The Danger of Compromise and the Call to Holy Zeal

Numbers 25 exposes a critical turning point where Israel falls not by force, but by seduction. While encamped near Moab, the people begin to participate in idolatry and immorality with the surrounding culture. What starts as relational connection becomes spiritual corruption. The covenant people begin to worship what God has forbidden.

This is not a minor lapse—it is a direct violation of their identity as a set-apart people. God’s response is swift. Judgment comes through a plague, revealing how seriously He takes covenant faithfulness. Sin is not neutral; it spreads and affects the whole community.

In the middle of widespread compromise, Phinehas rises with decisive action. His zeal is not reckless—it is aligned with God’s holiness. He confronts the sin directly, and the plague is stopped. God responds by establishing a covenant of peace with him, affirming that zeal for holiness preserves life.

Theologically, this chapter reveals that compromise is often more dangerous than opposition. Israel could withstand enemies, but they faltered when they blended in. Holiness is not just a command—it is protection. God’s people are called to remain distinct, not isolated, but consecrated.

This moment points forward to Christ, who perfectly embodies zeal for God’s house and holiness. Where Phinehas acted to stop immediate judgment, Christ absorbs judgment entirely. His work secures peace, not temporarily, but eternally.

For believers today, Numbers 25 is a clear warning. Compromise rarely appears obvious at first, but it leads to serious consequences. We are called to guard our hearts, remain set apart, and pursue holiness. Zeal for God is not outdated—it is essential.

    John 4

    Living Water and True Worship

John 4 reveals the heart of the Christ as He crosses boundaries to bring life to those far from God. The Son of God moves intentionally toward the overlooked, the broken, and the searching. This chapter shows that the redemptive plan is not limited by geography, background, or past failure. Christian living flows from receiving the life He gives and worshiping God in truth.

The chapter opens with Jesus traveling through Samaria, a region often avoided by others. At a well, He encounters a woman whose life is marked by broken relationships and social isolation. Rather than avoiding her, He engages her directly. He begins with a simple request but quickly shifts the conversation to a deeper reality — living water. The Christ offers something that satisfies beyond physical need. What He gives does not fade or run dry; it becomes a source of ongoing life.

As the conversation continues, Jesus reveals knowledge of her life that no stranger should know. This is not to shame her, but to awaken her. The Son of God exposes truth in order to lead to transformation. She begins to recognize that He is more than an ordinary man. The redemptive plan reaches into personal history and brings it into the light so that healing can begin.

The discussion turns to worship. The woman raises questions about location and tradition, but Jesus redirects her to the heart of the matter. True worship is not about place, but about spirit and truth. God seeks those who worship Him genuinely, not through ritual alone but through transformed hearts. The Christ reveals that worship is relational, not merely ceremonial.

As the conversation unfolds, Jesus openly identifies Himself as the promised Messiah. This clear revelation marks a turning point. The woman leaves her water jar and goes into the city, sharing what she has experienced. Her testimony draws others to come and see. The redemptive plan moves forward through personal encounter and simple witness.

Meanwhile, Jesus teaches His disciples about spiritual priorities. While they focus on physical food, He speaks of a greater nourishment — doing the will of the Father. He points them to the spiritual harvest already ready. The mission is urgent. People are prepared to receive the truth if someone will bring it.

Many in the Samaritan town believe, first because of the woman’s testimony and then because of their own encounter with Jesus. Their faith grows from hearing to knowing. The Christ is recognized not just as a teacher, but as the Savior of the world. The redemptive plan extends beyond Israel to all people.

The chapter concludes with another sign as Jesus heals a royal official’s son from a distance. This act demonstrates His authority over both sickness and space. Faith grows as the official trusts Jesus’ word before seeing the result. Christian living learns to trust the Christ not only in what is seen, but in what is promised.

John 4 teaches that the Christ offers living water that satisfies the soul, seeks true worshipers, and reaches across every barrier to bring salvation. The redemptive plan transforms individuals and then uses them to reach others.

For believers today, this chapter calls us to examine our thirst and our worship. Are we seeking satisfaction in temporary things, or receiving the living water of Christ? Are we worshiping in truth, or relying on routine? The Son of God still meets people in unexpected places and transforms their lives. Christian living flows from that encounter — filled, renewed, and sent to share the message that He is the Savior of the world.

  • A NUGGET OF TRUTH.
WHO ARE THE TRUE PEOPLE OF GOD?
(A Lengthy Biblical And Historical Investigation).

In an age where rhetoric and emotions often determine people's beliefs, one of the most countercultural things that anyone can do is to objectively look at the evidence, regardless of how it makes them feel. It is also important to remember that things are not often what they seem, that history is not always what we have been told, and that the truth will always be hated by the world. Today, we must abandon political correctness and oversensitivity to learn the truth about one of the most consequential questions of our time: Who are God's chosen people?

Many believe that the Jews are God's chosen people and that God intends to bless the Jews and the state of Israel at some point in the future because He obligated Himself to do so with Abraham. One reason people think this makes sense is that they believe today's Jews are direct descendants of Abraham. Many Christians even believe that the Zionist state of Israel and anyone calling themselves a Jew today have a special place in God's heart, and therefore we as non-Jews need to bless and honor these people more than others, lest God curse us or withhold His blessings. These and many similar attitudes must be tested thoroughly with Scripture and with history. After all, when the devil tempted Christ in the desert, he did so by twisting God's word to suit his agenda. This is why we must exercise discernment and test all things.

To understand who God's chosen people truly are, we must begin with Abraham. The Jewish Almanac of 1980 makes a critical observation: strictly speaking, it is incorrect to call an ancient Israelite a Jew or to call a contemporary Jew an Israelite or a Hebrew. The word "Jew" originates from one of the tribes of Israel named Judah, and the term refers to people who lived in or were from Judah, the territory that the tribe of Judah received as their inheritance. This means that those before the territory of Judah was created were not Jews. Moses was not a Jew, nor was Jacob, Isaac, or Abraham. Abraham was a Hebrew, a descendant of Eber, and he was promised to be the father of many nations, not just one nation or group of people.

This distinction is vital because it reveals that God's covenant with Abraham was never intended to be limited to a single ethnic lineage. A careful examination of the biblical record shows that from the very beginning, God intended His covenant community to be inclusive, based on faith rather than bloodline. Abraham's household was large, numbering well over a thousand people, and he taught all within his household, regardless of their origin, to follow the Lord. The direct physical descendants of Jacob who entered Egypt numbered only seventy, yet at the Exodus, Israel numbered over two million people. This astonishing growth cannot be explained by biological reproduction alone. The Scriptures record that a "mixed multitude" went up with Israel out of Egypt, and these foreigners were fully integrated into the covenant community, partaking equally of God's promises.

Throughout Israel's history, this pattern continued. Joseph married an Egyptian, Moses married a Midianite, Caleb was a Kenizzite, Rahab was a Canaanite, Ruth was a Moabite, and Uriah was a Hittite. These individuals were not biological descendants of Abraham, yet they were counted among God's people because they joined themselves to the Lord in faith. King David himself was only partially Israelite by ancestry, being descended from Ruth the Moabite. In the time of Esther, we read that "many of the people of the land became Jews," indicating that conversion and incorporation into the covenant community was a regular occurrence.

This understanding transforms our perspective on what it meant to be part of Israel. In God's eyes, true membership in Israel depended not on ancestry but on faith. The Apostle Paul acknowledges this when he points out that out of the whole nation of Israel during the time of Ahab, only seven thousand had remained faithful to God, and it was they who constituted the true Israel. Biblically, Israel was a spiritual community to which people were added or removed with no consideration of ancestry or race.

As we move through biblical history, the term "Jew" becomes increasingly complex. After the Israelites entered the Promised Land, they eventually formed two kingdoms: Israel in the north, composed of ten tribes, and Judah in the south, composed of Benjamin and Judah. The people of the northern kingdom were Israelites, not Jews, and many of the most prominent figures in Scripture came from these non-Jewish tribes. Samson was from Dan, Deborah from Ephraim, Gideon from Manasseh, Elijah from Gad or Manasseh, Joshua and Samuel from Ephraim, and Moses and Aaron from Levi. All of these biblical heroes were Israelites, not Jews.

When the Assyrians conquered the northern kingdom in 722 BC, the ten tribes were dispersed and assimilated among the nations, effectively ceasing to exist as a distinct people. The southern kingdom of Judah survived for another century and a half before being conquered by the Babylonians. After the Babylonian exile, a remnant returned to the land, but by this time, the territory had been occupied by various pagan tribes, including the Edomites. The Edomites were descendants of Esau, Jacob's brother, and had a long history of hostility toward Israel. They had allied with Nebuchadnezzar during the Babylonian invasion and rejoiced at Jerusalem's destruction.

A critical development occurred in the second century BC when the Hasmonean dynasty, led by John Hyrcanus, forcibly converted the entire Edomite nation to Judaism. This was the only case of forced conversion in Jewish history, and it brought into the Jewish community a people who were not only not descended from Judah but who were traditionally enemies of Israel. The Edomites became fully integrated into Jewish society, and from them came the notorious Herodian dynasty that ruled Judea at the time of Christ.

By the time of Jesus, therefore, those who called themselves Jews were a complex mixture of genuine descendants of Judah, descendants of the other tribes who had survived, and large numbers of converts from various pagan nations, including the Edomites. This historical reality explains why the Gospel of John often distinguishes between "the Jews" who opposed Jesus and the faithful remnant who followed Him. It also explains why the Apostle Paul identifies himself as a Hebrew and an Israelite rather than simply as a Jew.

The complexity only increases when we consider developments after the destruction of the Second Temple in AD 70. Following the failed Jewish revolts against Rome, the Jewish population was scattered, and all records of genealogies were destroyed. Today, it is impossible to reliably trace ancestry back to the biblical Israelites or even to the tribe of Judah.

One of the most significant events in this regard was the conversion of the Khazar kingdom to Judaism in the eighth century AD. The Khazars were a Turkic people who ruled a large territory in what is now eastern Ukraine and southwestern Russia. Their conversion to Judaism was a political decision, and the entire ruling elite and many of their subjects adopted the Jewish religion. When the Khazar empire was destroyed, its people dispersed throughout Eastern Europe, and their descendants became a significant portion of what is now known as Ashkenazi Jewry.

While some scholars debate the extent of Khazar ancestry among modern Jews, the historical fact remains that a large-scale conversion of a non-Semitic people to Judaism occurred, and these converts and their descendants became part of the Jewish community. This means that many people who call themselves Jews today have no biological connection to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but are rather descendants of Turkic converts.

Many argue that the Jews are still God's chosen people because God owes them the land He promised thousands of years ago to Abraham. But careful study reveals two significant problems with this argument. First, Abraham was not a Jew, nor were Isaac or Jacob. God made the promise to the Hebrews who eventually became the Israelites, not to the Jews. Second, these land promises were fulfilled long ago.

The biblical record is explicit on this point. In Joshua 21:43-45, we read that "the Lord gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they possessed it and lived in it. And the Lord gave them rest on every side, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers, and not one of all their enemies stood before them; the Lord gave all their enemies into their hand. Not one of the good promises which the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass". During the reign of Solomon, the boundaries of his empire matched exactly the area of land described by God to Abraham in Genesis 15:18-21. The land promise was fulfilled in its entirety.

The covenant of land was conditional upon obedience, as God had made clear from the beginning. Because the Israelites repeatedly rebelled, intermarried with pagans, and abandoned God's laws, they lost the land. God's judgment was just, but it did not nullify His promises. The greatest blessing God promised Abraham that through him all nations would be blessed, was fulfilled in Christ through the gospel, and this is why the Church, not any ethnic group, is the true body of chosen people.

The prophecy of Daniel 9 provides a clear timeline for when Israel's role as God's chosen nation was to be fulfilled. The prophecy states that "seventy weeks are determined upon thy people," referring to Israel, not Judah alone. These weeks represent years, giving a total of 490 years during which God's purposes for Israel as a nation would be accomplished.

Historical and archaeological evidence aligns this prophecy precisely with the coming of Jesus Christ. The starting point was the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, which is generally understood to be the decree of Artaxerxes in 445 BC authorizing Nehemiah to rebuild the city walls. From this date, the prophecy of sixty-nine weeks (483 years) leads directly to the time when the Messiah would appear.

The seventy weeks conclude with the cutting off of the Messiah and the subsequent destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. The critical turning point comes in AD 34, when Stephen was stoned and the apostles were dispersed from Jerusalem to spread the gospel to the nations. Shortly afterward, Paul was converted and Peter received his vision about the Gentiles. The time for the Old Testament system had passed, and with it, the special status of physical Israel as God's chosen nation had come to an end.

One of the most remarkable pieces of evidence that the Jews were not God's chosen people after the time of Christ comes from their own rabbinic literature. The Talmud records in Yoma 39b that for forty years before the destruction of the Temple, the signs that the Jews had relied upon for centuries to confirm God's forgiveness of their sins no longer occurred. The lot that should have come up in the High Priest's right hand did not, the crimson wool that should have turned white remained red, and the western lamp of the candelabrum would not stay lit.

Counting inclusively, forty years before the destruction of the Temple in AD 70 brings us to AD 31, the exact year that Jesus was crucified. For forty years, God was giving the Jews a clear message that their sacrifices were no longer accepted because the true Sacrifice had been offered. In the spirit of their fathers, most of the Jews remained stiff-necked and were judged in AD 70 when the Temple was destroyed. The Temple was not rebuilt because there was no more need for it. The time for physical Israel as an outward demonstration of God's electing purpose had come to an end.

Zionism, the political movement that led to the creation of the modern state of Israel, was not a religious movement but a secular, nationalist one. It emerged in Europe in the late nineteenth century, spearheaded by Theodor Herzl, an atheist or agnostic Jew. Herzl's vision was not for a religious state governed by biblical law, but for a secular Jewish state that would serve as a haven for Jews from persecution.

This secular origin is significant because it demonstrates that Zionism was not a fulfillment of biblical prophecy but a political project. Herzl himself had little interest in the religious aspects of Judaism and was primarily concerned with nationalism and state-building. The state that was eventually established in 1948 was similarly secular in character, with its founders being largely atheist or agnostic.

The creation of the state of Israel was not the result of divine intervention but of political maneuvering. The Balfour Declaration of 1917, the British Mandate, the support of the Rothschild banking family, and the geopolitical interests of Western powers all played crucial roles. The transfer of large numbers of Jews to Palestine was facilitated by agreements with Hitler's Germany, which sought to deport Jews from Europe rather than see them remain.

The New Testament reveals that the Old Testament system of physical Israel was a type and shadow of a greater spiritual reality. The tabernacle, the priesthood, the sacrifices, and the nation of Israel itself were all foreshadowing the coming of Christ and the establishment of His church. When Christ came, He fulfilled what these types had pointed toward, and the physical reality gave way to the spiritual.

This is why the Apostle Paul writes that not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and that the true children of God are the children of the promise. In Galatians 3:16, Paul explains that the promises made to Abraham were made to his offspring singular, who is Christ. If we are in Christ, then we are Abraham's offspring and heirs according to the promise. There is no promise to anyone who is outside of Christ.

In Romans 4:11-12, Paul writes that the covenant of circumcision with Abraham was made so that those in the future who would not be circumcised could be counted as righteous by faith as children of Abraham. This is the New Covenant announced in Jeremiah 31:31-34, where God promised to write His law on hearts rather than on tablets of stone. This covenant is not determined by fleshly lineage but exclusively by the work of God to give people a new heart.

The Apostle Peter appropriates the language of the chosen people when he writes to believers: "You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people" (1 Peter 2:9). This language, originally used of Israel in Exodus 19:5-6, is now applied to the church, the body of believers from every tribe and nation. Paul calls this new spiritual reality "the Israel of God" in Galatians 6:16.

What then does it mean to be chosen by God? The New Testament reveals that God's electing purpose has always been sovereign and unconditional. Jesus said that no one can come to Him unless the Father draws them, and that all whom the Father gives to Him will come to Him. This electing purpose was established before the foundation of the world, based not on human merit or effort but on God's own will and pleasure.

The true people of God are not those who can trace their physical lineage to Abraham, but those who have been given new hearts and new spirits by God, who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and who place their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This group includes people from every nation, tribe, and tongue, and it excludes anyone, regardless of their ancestry, who does not have faith in Christ.

This is not replacement theology, as it is often accused of being. The church did not replace Israel; rather, the church is the fulfillment of Israel. It is the spiritual reality that the physical Israel was designed to foreshadow. Just as Christ came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it, so the church is not a replacement for Israel but its fulfillment. Dispensationalism and Jewish-focused futurism are the true replacement theologies, for they replace the elect bride of Christ with a political state, replace the spiritual temple with a physical building, and replace the gospel of grace with identity politics based on ethnicity.

If the Jews of today are God's chosen people, one would expect them to exemplify the character that God desired for His set-apart people. Yet the evidence points in the opposite direction. Surveys indicate that Israel is among the least religious nations in the world, with a significant percentage of the population identifying as atheist. The founders of the Zionist movement and the early leaders of Israel were largely atheist or agnostic. David Ben-Gurion, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin, and many others who shaped the modern state had no interest in biblical religion.

The state of Israel has also become a center for cultural movements that are directly contrary to biblical values. Tel Aviv has been called the gay capital of the world, and the promotion of transgender ideology is prominent in Israeli society. The very symbol that the Zionist movement adopted to represent itself, the Star of David, is not of biblical origin but was a pagan occult symbol appropriated by Kabbalists in the sixteenth century. The biblical prophets condemned the Israelites for taking up the star of their pagan gods, yet this very symbol now represents the modern state.

If these are God's chosen people, they are a strange representation of His character. The true people of God, by contrast, are those who have been transformed by the Holy Spirit, who love God and keep His commandments, and who are being conformed to the image of Christ. They are not perfect, but they are being sanctified by the Spirit, and their lives bear witness to the power of the gospel.

    Conclusion

The evidence from Scripture and history is clear. The people who live in the state of Israel today are not the biblical Jews, nor are they God's chosen people. The biblical Israelites were a covenant community defined by faith, not ethnicity, and they fulfilled their purpose when the Messiah was born and accomplished His work of redemption. The land promises to Abraham were fulfilled long ago, and the covenant with physical Israel ended with the coming of Christ and the establishment of the New Covenant.

The term "Jew" has undergone so many transformations over the centuries that it no longer refers to a people who can be reliably traced back to the tribe of Judah. Mass conversions, forced conversions, and the destruction of genealogical records have made it impossible to establish any certain connection between modern Jews and ancient Israelites. The Zionist movement was a secular political project, not a fulfillment of prophecy, and the state it created is a political entity like any other, with no special claim to divine favor.

God's chosen people today are those who have been chosen by Him before the foundation of the world and given to Christ, those who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and placed their faith in Jesus, those who are being conformed to His image and are awaiting His return. They come from every nation, including Israel, but they are defined not by their physical ancestry but by their spiritual rebirth. They are the true Israel, the Israel of God, and to them belong the promises of Abraham, fulfilled in Christ and applied by the Spirit.

We must therefore reject the false narrative that the modern state of Israel or the people who call themselves Jews today have any special place in God's plan. This narrative is not supported by Scripture, is contradicted by history, and leads people away from the true gospel of grace. Instead, we must embrace the biblical teaching that in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, but all are one, and that the true children of Abraham are those who share his faith, not those who share his blood. This is the truth that sets us free, and it is the truth that we must proclaim without compromise.

Conclusion The evidence from Scripture and history is clear. Gospel Angels Broadcasting

Hello friends, family, and my brothers, and sisters in Christ.

    This is Brother Johnny Gass.

    Welcome to Bible study.

Study to show thyself to approved unto God, a Workman unashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

Please share these lessons with everyone you know for the expansion of the kingdom of God.

    A River of Life.

Naaman was a brave, rich, and famous commander for the armies of Syria who contracted leprosy, the most dreaded disease of Bible times. Leprosy meant isolation from loved ones and a slow, wretched death. A Hebrew slave girl who worked in Naaman's house said that if her master would only go to the prophet Elisha in Israel, he would heal Naaman of his leprosy. Willing to grasp at any thread of hope, Naaman made the long trip to Israel. With him was a small band of personal bodyguards and a king's ransom to pay for this miracle of healing. When Naaman finally stood before the humble house of the prophet, Elisha would not come out. Instead, he sent his servant with these simple instructions: "Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean." 2 Kings 5:10. The prophet's command to wash implied that Naaman was dirty! Being told to wash seven times and in a muddy river, no less, was too much for the proud Syrian general. In a rage, Naaman spun his horse around and began riding home. But in order to reach Damascus, Naaman had to ride by the Jordan River. As he passed by, Naaman's servants urged him to try the prophet's advice. So he stopped his horse, slid down, and laid aside the armor that covered the awful evidence of his leprosy. Naaman slowly stepped down into the waters of the Jordan. Six times he plunged under the water with no results, but when he came up the seventh time, the leprosy was gone! His skin was as pure and healthy as a baby's. Just as Naaman experienced restoration, you too can have a healing new-birth experience!

    1. What New Testament prophet used the Jordan River for baptizing, or cleansing?

Matthew 3:1, 5, 6. In those days came ________ the baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea. ... Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were baptized of him in Jordan.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The Gospel stories begin and end with the subject of baptism. Obviously this is a very important teaching to Jesus (Matthew 28:18, 19).

    2. What glorious Bible ceremony symbolizes a "washing" from the leprosy of sin?

Acts 22:16. Arise, and be ___________, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The Bible ordinance of baptism symbolizes the washing away of sin from a person's life, as well as the new birth.

    3. According to the Bible, how many different kinds of baptism are acceptable?

    Ephesians 4:5. __________ Lord, __________ faith, ____ baptism.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: At least 15 different ceremonies are called baptism today, but according to the Bible, there is only one true baptism.

    4. What does the word "baptize" mean?

Colossians 2:12. __________ with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The Greek word "baptizo" means "submerge," "plunge under," or "immerse." A person has not been baptized unless he has been completely submerged, or buried, in water. This word "baptizo" is always used in the Bible in reference to the sacred ordinance of baptism. The Greek words for "sprinkling" or "pouring" are never used.

    5. Jesus is our example. How was He baptized?

Mark 1:9, 10. Jesus came ... and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up ____ of the water, he saw the heavens opened.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: John baptized Jesus by immersion in the same river where Naaman was cleansed from leprosy. Note that they were "in" Jordan (not on the riverbank) and that Jesus came "up out" of the water. This is why John was baptizing in "Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there" John 3:23. Christians are to follow the example of Jesus (1 Peter 2:21), who was baptized by immersion "to fulfil all righteousness." Matthew 3:15.

    6. How did Philip baptize the treasurer of Ethiopia?

Acts 8:38, 39. They went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come __ out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip.

    Answer : ____________________

    7. What other truths are symbolized by baptism?

Romans 6:4. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was ____________ up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Baptism symbolizes Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. There is first death to sin, then burial of the old life of sin in the water, and finally resurrection from the water to a new life. Baptism by immersion fits the symbolism perfectly. The life of sin dies, then there is brief suspension of breath while the person being baptized is leaned backward into the water until the body is fully covered, or buried, in the water. Then the person is raised up out of the water, taking a fresh breath as a newborn baby, to live an entirely new life, symbolizing the resurrection. No other form of baptism fits this Bible symbolism. Some say they keep Sunday holy in honor of the resurrection, but this practice is never mentioned in the Bible.

    8. How important is baptism?

Mark 16:16. He that believeth and is baptized shall be _______; but he that believeth not shall be damned [lost].

John 3:5 Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Baptism is clearly mandated by Scripture as essential. However, when baptism is impossible, as it was for the thief on the cross, Jesus gives that person credit for His baptism (Matthew 3:15).

    9. What blessed ceremony can be compared to baptism?

Galatians 3:27. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have _____ on Christ.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Baptism is like the marriage ceremony. The Bible says, "For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name." Isaiah 54:5. As a woman takes her husband's name in marriage, so Christians take the name of Christ--thereafter to be called Christians. Both ceremonies must be based on love and commitment if they are to be meaningful. Baptism is as essential to the Christian life as a wedding is to a marriage.

    10. What command did Jesus give to His people just before His ascension?

Matthew 28:19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, _________ them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Peter followed this command when on the day of Pentecost he told the penitent people, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ." Acts 2:38.

    11. What biblical qualifications must precede baptism?

Acts 2:38. Then Peter said unto them, _______ , and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    A. Understand Jesus' teachings (Matthew 28:19, 20)
    B. Believe all of Jesus' teachings (Mark 16:16)
    C. __________ of past sins (Acts 2:38)
    D. Believe with all your heart (Acts 8:37)
    E. Agree to turn from sin (Luke 3:7, 8; Romans 6:5, 6)
    F. Accept Christ as your personal Saviour and experience the new birth (2 Corinthians 5:17; John 3:3, 5)

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Since an infant cannot comply with any of the above steps, obviously it is not scriptural to baptize a child until he is old enough to comprehend the gospel.

    12. Where did all of the counterfeit forms of baptism originate?

Mark 7:8. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the _________ of men.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Baptism by immersion was the only form of baptism practiced during Bible times and for centuries after the cross. But then, misguided men introduced other forms of baptism for the sake of convenience. Thus, God's sacred ordinance of baptism was distorted and its rich symbolic meaning obscured.

    13. What does the Bible say about those who put the teachings of men before the truth of God?

Matthew 15:9. But in ______ they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

    Answer : ____________________

    14. But doesn't the baptism of the Holy Spirit replace baptism by immersion?

Acts 2:38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be ___________ every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: No! Notice that while Peter was preaching (Acts 10:44-48), the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening, many of whom had not been baptized. But even though they had already received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Peter insisted that they be baptized in water as well.

    15. Is rebaptism ever proper?

Acts 19:2-5. They said unto him, We have not so much as __________ whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they ________ this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: One day when Paul was preaching in Ephesus, he found 12 men who had been baptized by John the Baptist, but who had never heard of the Holy Spirit. So upon receiving this substantial new light, they were rebaptized. Likewise, if a person has completely lost his Christian experience, he should be rebaptized upon returning to the Lord. Rebaptism is also appropriate if a person was not baptized in the biblical method.

    16. Is baptism connected with joining a church?

Acts 2:41. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were ________ unto them about three thousand souls.

Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord __________ to the church daily such as should be saved.

Colossians 3:15 Ye are called in one body.

Colossians 1:18 He is the head of the body, the church...

1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The Scriptures are unequivocal. All of God's people are called into one body, which is the church, and we enter it by baptism. After birth, a baby must be placed in a family for nurturing, protection, and growth.

    17. If I refuse baptism, whose counsel am I refusing?

Luke 7:30. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of ______ against themselves, being not baptized of him.

    Answer : ____________________

    18. When Jesus was baptized, what did His Father say?

Mark 1:9, 11. And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. ... And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well ___________.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: When any of God's children repent of their sins and are baptized, He is well pleased.

    19. Would you like to begin preparing for the sacred rite of baptism so God can say of you, "Thou art my beloved son [or daughter], in whom I am well pleased"?

    Answer : ____________________

    The Model Baptism
Jesus was not baptized because He needed cleansing from sin, for He was sinless (1 Peter 2:22). This is why John the Baptist was so perplexed when Jesus came to the Jordan River, asking to be baptized by him. John said, "I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?" Matthew 3:14.

So why was Jesus baptized? There are three main reasons. First, He was baptized in behalf of those who cannot be baptized themselves. Sometimes when people accept the Lord in prison or in a hospital, circumstances do not allow them to be baptized. Jesus gives them credit for His baptism. The thief on the cross was one example (Luke 23:43). Second, Jesus was baptized as an example, that we should follow in His steps (1 Peter 2:21). And third, Jesus was baptized so we can, by studying His experience, know what to expect by faith.

To illustrate, let's take the following verses word by word and see what we can expect from our baptism. Matthew 3:16 and 17 reads: "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

"The heavens were opened" = We receive access to God.

"He saw" = Our spiritual eyes are now opened, giving us new understanding and perception.

"The Spirit of God" = We recognize His leading.

"Descending like a dove" = Peace gently enters our hearts.

"A voice from heaven" = We will begin to hear that still, small voice.

"My beloved son" = We are adopted into His royal family and become citizens of a different country.

"I am well pleased" = God gives us complete acceptance and forgiveness.

Answer : ____________________ Supplemental Study The Model Baptism Jesus was not baptized because He needed cleansing from sin, for He was sinless (1 Peter 2:22). Matthew 3:16 and 17 reads: "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." "The heavens were opened" = We receive access to God. TOPIC: REVERSING TIME

    MEMORISE:
And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: - (Daniel 2:21)

    BIBLE READING: JOSHUA 10:1-14 (KJV)

    1 Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

2 That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

3 Wherefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

6 And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

7 So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

8 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

9 Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.

10 And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth-horon, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

    MESSAGE:
God controls times and seasons, as we see in today's memory verse. As I mentioned yesterday, He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending (Revelation 1:8). This means that He is in charge of the past, present, and future. If He wants, He can stop time like He did in today's Bible reading, where He stopped the sun from setting. God is Almighty, and He can reverse the effect of time on a person or situation.

Many years ago, as I approached my 60th birthday, I became concerned that I was growing old, and it seemed like I was still very far from completing the assignment that God had given me. My children were really excited as they wanted to celebrate my 60th birthday with me; however, I was groaning and crying to God in prayers. I still remember the spot where I was, around 2am one morning, praying and asking Him for help. I told Him that I still had so much to do, and the sun seemed to be setting on my life already. God responded, saying, "Son, I decide when the sun sets." Those words completely put my heart at rest. As you are reading this, I pray that the Lord will prove Himself mighty in your life.

In Isaiah 38:1-8, Prophet Isaiah told King Hezekiah that God would heal him and add 15 years to his time on earth. He also told him that God would give him a sign to prove this to him:

Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down. - (Isaiah 38:8)

Beloved, God can bring something from your past into your present. He can bring an opportunity that you think you have lost forever back to you. In Genesis 18:9-14, when God said to Abraham, "Tell your wife that she will have a son," Sarah laughed. She laughed because it was humanly impossible for a woman of her age to conceive a child. However, God rebuked her and made her realise that He can restore what seems to be gone forever. I pray for you today that God will reverse time for your sake, and every good opportunity that seems to have been lost forever will be restored to you, in Jesus' name.

    PRAYER POINT:
Father, please reverse time for my sake and restore all the good opportunities that I have lost, in Jesus' name.
