  • Daily Devotion — April 18 | Mark 4:22 (NKJV)

Living in the Light of Truth

Mark chapter 4 contains several teachings from Jesus about the kingdom of God. In this verse Jesus explains an important principle about truth. What is hidden will eventually be revealed, and what is kept secret will come into the light.

Jesus is speaking about the truth of God’s kingdom and the message of the gospel. At the time of His ministry, many people did not fully understand who He was or the full meaning of His teachings. Yet Jesus makes it clear that God’s truth is not meant to remain concealed. In time it will be revealed clearly for all to see.

This principle also speaks to the way believers live their lives. God calls His people to walk in the light. Hidden motives, secret sins, or concealed attitudes cannot remain hidden forever. God’s truth exposes what is in the heart so that it can be corrected and restored.

Walking in the light is not about fear but about freedom. When we live honestly before God, His truth guides us, corrects us, and shapes us into people who reflect His character.

For believers today this verse reminds us that God’s truth always comes to light. The gospel is meant to be shared, and our lives are meant to reflect the transforming power of that truth.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Are there areas of my life that I am keeping hidden from God

    2. How does God’s truth bring clarity and correction to my life

    3. In what ways can my life reflect the light of Christ to others

    Prayer

Lord God thank You for Your truth that brings light into every part of life. Help me to live honestly before You and allow Your Word to guide my thoughts and actions. Let my life reflect Your truth so that others may see Your light. In Jesus name Amen.

    Practical Application

โ— Spend time daily in Scripture allowing God’s truth to guide your heart

โ— Confess and surrender anything that needs to come into the light

โ— Share the message of Christ with someone who needs to hear it

    Takeaway Thought

God’s truth will always come to light. When we live in the light of His Word, our lives reflect His transforming power.

  • Rahab saves Gods' men

Jos 2:16  And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.
Jos 2:17  And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.
Jos 2:18  Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.
Jos 2:19  And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.
Jos 2:20  And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.
Jos 2:21  And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.
Jos 2:22  And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.
Jos 2:23  So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:
Jos 2:24  And they said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.

  • Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

Yesterday I was invited to a promotion ceremony. It was wonderful. She was completely surprised and elated. Family and coworkers all gathered and nearly caused her a heart attack when she walked through the doors. It was a building full of love and reward.

Afterwards, I verified the venue for an upcoming fundraiser for a person who has always put others first. Who would, in the middle of the night, go sit with someone who just needed a friend. A person who is the epitome of being a child at heart. Then had a ME-type conversation with them to let them know that they do deserve this kind of family love.

I was asked recently if I miss my work. I do, and I don’t. I do to the extent that it was my routine, and I knew what to expect. I do not because while I was working, I could not do what I am doing now, and for me, this is far more important. To be honest, when I felt the push to go a month earlier than planned, I was scared. I had a plan, and my mind told me that the plan was solid. It probably was. My plan gave me a sense of control. But I am not in control, if I truly believe that He leads my life.

Today I prepare for an event, work on a couple of loose ends for the fundraiser, hug my grandkids, and do the dishes. Oh, yeah…probably should do some laundry … I am out of pjs. Haha. This life is far different than what I am used to. Three weeks in and I am still adjusting. But the sleep that I get and the refreshness in the morning … I had peace before but following Him in this manner … it is something completely different.

What step has He urged you to take that you warry of? Which person is He asking you to reach out to, that you are holding back on? What direction is He pointing you to that you are scared or unsure of? He will not lead you down the wrong path. He will only lead you down the path that He has designed and designated for you. He knows what you are capable of, and He wants you to grow in Him.

    Be blessed.

**Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. –Psalm 23:4
