Hello! Welcome to Ben’s Book Nook!

The Nook is a monthly missive of book-flavoured writing and cartoons, odds and ends, illustrations, recommendations, rants, jokes, stories, and exclusive access to my live shows, recordings and book clubs.

It includes writing from me, Ben Pope, and design and cartoons from illustrator Will Hughes.

The original version of this newsletter (Lo!) was born back in 2020. We were spending a disgusting amount of time online. Social media seemed to be a series of precision-engineered purgatories - Instagram made me puce with envy, every time I used Twitter I had to take a shower, Facebook had become a sort of ancient racist car boot sale and TikTok was mental cocaine, a toddler-operated roulette wheel full of spinning gummy bears. 6 years on, plus ça change.

Everyone’s email inbox seems to be either barren scrubland or a bilious skip overflowing with harrowing tasks. So the plan was to put something in there every month that is delightful, curious, funny and crucially free.
