RIP LJ Smith, and: I started writing fanfic again

Oh hi, it's been a long time.

I figured some folks may still be here who know me back from my LJ Smith fandom days, and might be interested to see that I wrote two new stories in the Redux series - the first in 14 years: Family and Fealty. They're IMO a very satisfactory mix of emotional processing and unabashed smut.

Also... LJ Smith died, and all the public places to grieve are... not really the place to leave the kind of memorial I'd like to offer.

In the memorable way of Dune fandom, I would like to say:

I Was A Friend of Lisa's

And only now that she's gone, have I been able to put together some essential pieces of her life, and be open about others:

She was a Friend of Dorothy's, and she was One of Us: A slasher, a fanfic writer. A queer woman who stayed closeted and private and maybe even went off the deep end from all the layers of secrets and loss in her life.

I have her Blake's 7 slash fanfics from the 80s. Her vampire brothers, Damon and Stefan? Are modified characters from her queer stories. Every time any of us slashed her characters, we were doing exactly what she would have done in our place.

Her "best friend" who she dedicated books to all those years? Was her roommate, in the "they were roommates" sense. Her life partner, hidden in plain sight.

No wonder she was so protective of Lisa. I can maybe forgive her now.

Why were so many of her characters queer-coded? Why were so many of her women, in particular, so enticingly Sapphic even when they ostensibly had boyfriends? Because she, too, was queer. Sapphic. Closeted to some degree, though we her fans will never know how much. She knew how to write secretly-queer characters because, at least in her public life, that's exactly what she was.

I wondered for many years how such a sizeable portion of her devoted fans grew up to be trans, enby, queer, gay, etc.

And here's my answer: She was one of us all along.

Happy Pride, LJS. Although I parted ways with your writing and your persona many years ago, I will always miss the You I knew through your books in the 1990s, and I'm glad you are now at rest. Thanks for everything you gave us.

Quirky dark syrup of milo is rubbed with a small amount of lime and a grain of incense. Really intriguing. Foody.

Thick blackest vanilla combines with the scent of earth (not the loamy sort but more flinty), a bit papery, the last bits of light and incense. Rather thrilling. Oriental, resin, incense.

Embalming Unguent (100% Natural)
Cassia, cedar oil, myrrh, and palm oil. Woody but high keyed very herbal, but there is something thick, brown and lingering about it which makes it the perfect sort of autumn to winter blend.

This perfume starts out with a gourd accord (!) and slides into a fine brew of lavender, oakmoss, and thyme which are twined around a resinous ambery heart. Magical and unexpected.

11/04 update: Sorry folks, but I'm gonna have to cancel this one. Aside from lack of signups, my schedule has gotten a lot more full and won't be letting up for a while. I hate to disappoint, but...yeah. This was just not meant to be.

12/08 update: "Everything" went into the mailbox this afternoon. Finally. However, I say "everything" because there were a few things left out from my order from Conjure. So if something's missing from your order, that would be why. I contacted Vajra about it but haven't heard anything back, and have not gotten a refund for them. For those of you who ordered those items--I can either refund you whenever Vajra gets around to refunding me (sigh) or I can send you goods of equal value from my sale page. This decant circle has been such a trainwreck--I'm so glad to have these decants shipped to you!

12/03 update: Friday shipping SO TOTALLY did not happen. Sorry y'all, the holidays are seriously insane for me this year.

11/24 update: I received these yesterday! Woo! I will get to work on these ASAP, and still plan to ship by Friday, but FYI my nail polish business has had an EPIC number of sales over the Black Friday weekend and I suddenly have a massive workload. I was seriously hoping to have these decants done with long before the craaaaazy holiday season started :(

11/21 update part 2: I've heard back from Vajra. Our order is ready and shipping on Friday. YAY! I will work hard to get the decants out to you by the end of next week, assuming USPS get the bottles to me promptly.

11/21 update: This order is still in limbo. No bottles have been received. 11/14 update: I have STILL not received these bottles. I'm so sorry for the wait, everyone :( Vajra mentioned on FB yesterday that she will be taking down the Halloweens soon. When I commented with my distress, she said that my order's been held up due to 1 add-on!...I am going to get her to ship that 1 thing separately (I wish she'd notified me sooner!) but I still don't have an ETA on when that will be. HOWEVER, she said that you all will be able to order full bottles, whenever you ask, even if they aren't on the site any more, if you mention you were in a decant circle. Which is a relief, but...yeah, I am still pretty annoyed. I will update again as soon as I have more news.

Greenery and coconut (green coconut that is) are aflame with a very sexy patchouli accord which I concocted in the Possetorium for moments like this, a back-wash of wood (fresh hewn of course), a deep sandalwood, and a distant freshly opening blossom located somewhere up that tree. Very nice indeed.

A rose which I have in my backyard, a David Austin "myrrh scented" rose called St. Cecelia! Myrrh is part of this blend, along with a small amount of oude.

The Shipman
The tang of the seashore, rushes up against Lime Bay Rum and a good shot of ship's wax which was used to lubricate the wood aboard, and skin musk to keep it going for a long time. An outdoorsy fragrance with an unexpectedly smoky note, but still very pretty with a great deal of depth and fun to it. Not somber at all and more of a jolly scent.

The White Crow (The Manciple's Tale)
All the whitest of sweet fragrances blending together to be a clever conjure. A white leaf sage (more like Tuscan herbal accompaniment) goes together with lambs ear (again a white leafed desert plant). 03/05 update: All orders for this circle went out first thing this morning!

03/02 update: So...after I already had most orders all packaged up, on Tuesday night, I realized I had made a rather significant error (it's complicated--I'd rather not go into details here) that required me to unwrap and double-check every single order. It kinda totally sucked. I finished correcting all orders in the wee hours last night/this morning, and have now commenced repackaging. I've got a helper over here so I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll be able to get things shipped tonight, although I only have a couple hours to spare. Anything that doesn't ship tonight will ship on Monday. I'm sorry for the screwup/holdup :(

02/24 update: Totally false alarm about the vials! I got my shipment from my supplier today! (Apparently their estimate was just extremely conservative.) I'm a couple days behind schedule, but not too bad. These'll be going out sometime in the coming week.

02/21: I'm most of the way through decanting now, but apparently I miscounted how many vials I had left, and am short by about 100 :( I'm currently trying to find someone who can send me that many right away, since my regular supplier takes about 2 weeks. I'll keep you updated! There's enough bottles involved here that everyone's orders are held up until I get these :(

02/19 update: I received these yesterdat--seems there was some snafu with USPS, and my package got routed to another city before making its way to me. I've made pretty good progress already, and expect these to ship this week. Thanks folks!

A couple notes about this circle: Because V-Day is less than 2 weeks away now, and shipping times to and from me will probably take at least a week on their own, not even counting decanting, I think it's pretty unlikely that these will get to you in time for Valentine's Day. 01/28: EVERYTHING HAS NOW SHIPPED!!! As of this morning. Poke me for your tracking info if you're needing it--all domestic orders have tracking. Thanks, and huge apologies again to everyone for the long wait!

01/27 update: More packages went out yesterday evening. At this point there are 7 packages remaining to be wrapped up: boompsy, cinnamic, lejlkwiet, just_the_ash, kelpsoda, lilithsnake6 and edenssixthscent. Two other packages are also still pending: violetblue (Winter Fairy was leaky, so I need to transfer the oil) and 10dimensions (I only just remembered about the White Tea & Sage, so need to fish it out of my stash). I should be able to get everything out before the last pickup today, but those last two may have to go in the mailbox tonight, to be picked up in the morning.

01/25 update: More packages went out yesterday, but not everything. There's still a number of packages that need bubblewrapping etc.

01/20 update: Contrary to what I said below, I did actually end up being able to ship some packages on Tuesday. It was all soap/perfume-only orders. Before I left town I was also able to get all items decanted, and all pending orders portioned out. It's just the packaging left to be done when I get back. I will be home on Saturday and things have been sorted out so I won't have to do this trip again for at least a month. Things will ship between Monday-Tuesday depending on how quickly I'm able to do the packaging. (All the differently-sized items always makes that step a bit tricky!)

01/15 updating: I'm working on getting the remaining items decanted today, but as of right now I don't think I'll be able to have anything mailed Tuesday (tomorrow is a holiday). I am terribly sorry for the long turnaround time on these--right after the holidays, my grandmother (who lives 2 hours away) had major surgery, and she's had some difficulty recovering. My other family members have been taking turns staying with her and helping out, but when there's a gap in care (usually last-minute and unexpected) I've been carting my butt on down there to fill in. On top of my current (large) workload of pottery orders, it's been kiiiiinda a mess. I am leaving town again first thing in the morning and will be gone 1-4 days. As such I'm not entirely sure which day I'll be shipping these. I really appreciate everyone's patience thusfar, and hopefully y'all can bear with me for a few more days :(

01/12 update: HUZZAH! My correct order for the bottles arrived today! I can work on these tomorrow, and probably complete decanting then, but I have a prior commitment all day Saturday--so everything pending for this circle should ship on Monday :)

01/10 update: sorry for not updating again more quickly! There was a snafu with the 1oz/2oz bottles I ordered. The corrected order is en route to me now, and things should ship within 2-3 days after its arrival. I'm sorry for the continued holdup :(

01/02 update: Just an addendum to the below--we are still on schedule for shipping most of these out on the 9th, but those of you who ordered perfume oils from this circle, and are getting your Possets Yules or BPAL Yules shipped separately, will have your BPTP perfumes included with those others and shipped tomorrow.

12/30 update: I just got back into town from holiday festivities yesterday, and the boxes for this circle were waiting for me. I've received everything for this circle, but right now I am hard at work on the Possets Yules and BPAL Yules decant circles, which I'm prioritizing because they arrived first and folks have been waiting really long for the BPALs. After I have those shipped off (Mon or Tues) I can begin work in earnest on these--it's not that big of a circle so it shouldn't take too long. I'm going to be out of town from the 4th-7th (my grandmother is having surgery) but I'm taking these with me. My best guess right now is that these will ship on Monday the 9th, since although I can do the decanting while I'm gone, I can't really feasibly bring all my shipping supplies.

01/06 update: Just a note (and apology) that apparently I accidentally labeled round 2 of decants with "BPAL" instead of "Possets." All of the scent names and descriptions are correct, just not the perfumer's name. Sorry folks, and sorry Possets!

01/04 update: Confirming that, as of last night, virtually all packages not waiting on the BPTP Yules have been shipped out. I do have a handful of packages still in-progress, though. This could be because you made a last-minute addition, because one of your decants needs replacing due to a leak or screwed-up label, or other such randomness. Following is a list of those orders still in stasis: tailoredshirt, rayvn1, karnerblue, rachel2205, _ice_lady_, squidthief, roogna13, violetclove, pinkdot25, sarahahas, acciochocolate. I will get those shipped out ASAP, but be aware that I'm going to be out of town for the next 3-4 days, helping my grandmother while she recovers from surgery. I'll be theoretically able to mail/work on stuff while I'm with her, but no guarantees that I'll find the time!

01/02 update: Just confirming that (nearly all of) these are getting put in the mailbox tonight, to be picked up by the mailman tomorrow! I have all the orders that just contain decants ready to go now, but those of you who got add-ons or decants in the bottle are still in progress, and may or may not be ready with the rest of these tonight. If not, I plan on still having them shipped sometime tomorrow.

12/30 update: I just got back into town from holiday festivities yesterday (I thought I'd be returning on the 27th, but things came up). These are almost all decanted now, but not ready to ship by any means. I'm sorry I couldn't get them to folks while the sale was still on :( I'm planning on having them all shipped out on Monday.

12/20 update: I shipped all of the round 1 packages today, and also received round 2. Please be aware that starting tomorrow, I will be out of town with family for about a week, and will not have time to get these shipped (or probably get much work done on them) before I leave. I will work hard to get these out to y'all ASAP, and I appreciate your understanding that decanters need holidays too!

12/16 update: I finished decanting round 1 last night, and am labeling tonight. Everything from that round, that's not waiting on round 2, should ship Monday. I received a shipping notice for round 2 a couple days ago, but it hasn't arrived yet!

12/12 update: I'm about 1/2 of the way through decanting round 1. I'm going to be out of town through Wednesday and will resume decanting when I get back!

12/08 update: I placed the order for round 2 today, and also made the labels for round 1--decanting commences tomorrow!

12/07 update: I received round 1 of this circle this evening!

The first round of Possets was ordered on 11/30.

It looks like there'll be a round or two of more Yules, and I'll be decanting those too, adding them to this page as they go live. You can choose then whether to have each batch shipped separately, or all at once.

Things I Am Mostly Not Into

--Graphic depictions of rape. It can be mentioned, and the consequences dealt with, but I don't wanna read about the act.

--Same as the above, only regarding suicide. Also, please do not write about someone being hanged in your story. This is something I'm really sensitive about, so please don't.

--I like me some romance, but please, no schmoop or PWPs.

--First person + present tense. One or the other is cool, but not both at the same time!

Bat Boy! The Musical

I am like the biggest Edgar/Shelley shipper on the planet. I love Shelley. She's one of my favorite characters ever. For the record, I am not particularly interested in or turned on by the incest element, I just consider it kind of irrelevant since they never knew each other. I am particularly interested in the ways that Edgar and Shelley help each other grow as people, seeing the best in each other. I'm also interested in Meredith's weird maternal relationship with them, but to a lesser extent.

I really like the areas of exploration that are left open if, for whatever reason, Edgar does not die at the end of the play. I would be equally as into a "missing scene" fic.

Story prompts that come to mind, which you are not at all expected or required to follow:
--Edgar takes Shelley back to the cave to visit his family.
--Pan comes to visit the two of them again.
--The first time Shelley realizes Edgar drinks blood.

I would be okay with any rating level for this one.

Mary Poppins

Ah, Mary and Bert. What is the deal with them? Are they lovers? Ex-lovers? Or is Bert just in love with her, and not vice-versa? They sure seem like they have a lot of history together--when? What? They're both obviously magical people--how did that happen? Are their powers related, or just coincidentally complimentary?

Somewhere in there is what I want to read about. You could invent a backstory, or just a character study of one or both of them, with maybe some personal insight into their relationship. Or they could go on a trip together, child-free. The important thing to me is that it's about them and not the kids!

I would be down for snogging and implied naughtiness, or not, but definitely nothing more hardcore sexy than that.

Donna Tartt's The Secret History

Richard! I love him so. He's one of those characters where I'm just like, "YES! I understand you!"

Anyhow. I feel like so much of the book--the storyline and his relationship with the other characters--is based around the simple fact that they didn't tell him about the bacchanal they were planning, and he wasn't there when it happened. I would love to see how things would get mixed up if he had been there.

I don't need an all-out rewrite of the book after that point (although, you know, if you wanna, I wouldn't say no...)--I'd be happy with one good scene that really showed how this change in events altered everything else, in expected or unexpected ways.

This is the kind of story I've fantasized about writing for years, and never did it because there were so many directions I could go with it.

So I'd like to know what direction you would take instead.

I'd be cool with any rating for this one.

Xenogenesis Trilogy

Okay, first up, normally I'm not all that into world building, but this is definitely an exception. I am kinda semi-obsessed with the Oankali and the hybrids and all the changes to the earth, and the living ships and the humans excavating tiny scraps of long-lost cities, and the aliens arriving on a destroyed Earth and spending centuries going "WTF????" re: humanity. And the Mars colony. Pretty much everything about this universe is fascinating to me.

I like Lilith. I like her kids. I like the lost village of inbred holdouts. I like a lot of secondary characters. I'd be interested in new characters too. I'm down for gen, het, slash, whatevs. Or no characters at all, for that matter!

Really, I'd just like a story that is less focused on a single character, and more on the society as a whole, or a group of people (including Oankali in "people" here).

Ideas for topics:
--About people moving to, or on the Mars colony
--About Lo in the years right before the ships leave Earth
--About people on other continents, in other climates
--About the history of the Oankali

01/15 updating: All orders that have not already been sent, are going out sometime this week. I am terribly sorry for the long turnaround time on these--right after the holidays, my grandmother (who lives 2 hours away) had major surgery, and she's had some difficulty recovering. My other family members have been taking turns staying with her and helping out, but when there's a gap in care (usually last-minute and unexpected) I've been carting my butt on down there to fill in. On top of my current (large) workload of pottery orders, it's been kiiiiinda a mess. I'm putting some orders in the mailbox tonight, but am leaving town again first thing in the morning and will be gone 1-4 days. As such I'm not entirely sure which day I'll be shipping the rest. I really appreciate everyone's patience thusfar, and hopefully y'all can bear with me for a few more days :(

01/04 update: Confirming that, as of last night, virtually all packages not waiting on the BPTP Yules have been shipped out. I do have a handful of packages still in-progress, though. This could be because you made a last-minute addition, because one of your decants needs replacing due to a leak or screwed-up label, or other such randomness. 01/02 update: Just confirming that (nearly all of) these are getting put in the mailbox tonight, to be picked up by the mailman tomorrow! I have all the orders that just contain decants ready to go now, but those of you who got add-ons or decants in the bottle are still in progress, and may or may not be ready with the rest of these tonight. If not, I plan on still having them shipped sometime tomorrow.

12/30 update: I just got back into town from holiday festivities yesterday. These are almost all decanted now, but not ready to ship by any means. I'm planning on having them all shipped out on Monday, *but* considering that tomorrow's NYE, it's possible I might not get as much done this weekend as I'm planning on...in which case it may take 1-2 days longer than that.

12/20 update: I received everything for this circle today--yay! I'm starting decanting tonight, but please be aware that starting tomorrow, I will be out of town with family for about a week, and will not have time to get these shipped (or probably get much work done on them) before I leave. I will work hard to get these out to y'all ASAP, and I appreciate your understanding that decanters need holidays too!

11/23 update: I finished decanting tonight. Now, portioning and packaging begins. Unfortunately, I'm leaving early tomorrow afternoon to go to my family's Thanksgiving, and won't be able to get this done before I leave, so I will resume work on shipping these on Saturday, when I get home.

Believe it or not, I actually had a fic idea this morning.

I was thinking about how L. J. Smith totally dangled the carrot of "I really want to write a more adult, mature version of The Vampire Diaries, and then instead gave us this totally fucked up sexphobic series of sequels instead.

So, I was picturing how many scenes in the original series I could squeeze sex and/or other questionable material into without totally messing up the canon otherwise. And that of course got me thinking about what ways I could do it and totally mess up canon.

This is a slippery slope. But I have at least one scene written--in my head, anyway.

Sigh. Writing for this fandom makes me so depressed nowadays. But being depressed makes me angry, which gives me fire to persevere.

10/25 note: Just a follow-up, that I was feeling pretty sick yesterday and stayed in bed all day, thus missing the post office. Everything for this circle (unless it was combined with another circle that's not ready yet) was shipped today. Thanks everyone!

10/22 update: Signups are now closed for this circle. I received this order 7 days ago, and everything is now decanted. Nearly everything is now also packaged up, and it will all ship out on Monday.

I also want to apologize in advance...the decants in general will be less full than they normally are. Looks like Fabienne has started filling the bottles about 1/2mL less than she used to. It's still above 6mL, so more than she advertises, but still less than I usually rely on for my circles. In future I'm cutting back to 6 slots per bottle again, but for this time around, I had to scrimp a little to get everyone what they ordered. Decants will mostly be at or just a wee bit below label. Apologies!

This decant circle is for all of the new Possets fragrances, including the Halloweens, new OAR Kitties, and States. I'm also tentatively including the returning favorites, but those will probably be dropped if there isn't enough interest. You're welcome to add bottles of anything to my order, too. 01/17 update: Apparently a couple of those soap orders got sorted into the "combined with BPTP Yules" box on accident. They shipped today!

12/30 update: I'm so sorry again for the delay on these. I just got back in town from Christmas festivities. They'll be shipping out on Monday, unless you requested they be combined with the BPTP Yules, which won't be ready to go for a bit longer.

12/20 update: ...I totally haven't shipped the soaps yet. I'm sorry for the additional wait. I've been swamped with work ever since I got back from vacation on the 13th, and just got caught up today. I won't have another mailing day until after Christmas, but as of today these are sliced and the labels are ready, so they'll be going out ASAP.

12/10 update: Not sure what the holdup was, but I just received the soaps today.

12/02 update: Just a note, for those still waiting for those missing soaps, that I got a CnS from the Post today!

11/19 update: Just wanted to check in and let folks know that nearly all the stragglers have now shipped. The only packages I have remaining are emma2403, annaham, faerheart, keller, kittenmorag, boompsy. They're all ready to go--since Friday afternoon--but between my illness (which is finally clearing up) and the pouring rain today, I didn't make it to the post office before the 2pm cutoff. So, Monday for those!

11/16 update: First up, I've been sick for the last couple days (an ear infection that I've had for a week, which suddenly got a LOT worse--I'm mostly functional, but on groggy-making pain killers, thus sleeping a lot and generally taking longer to do things than I normally should) so if you've commented and haven't heard back yet, sorry :( Because of illness-related stuff, I did NOT make it to the post office yesterday, so everything that would have gone out then, went out today. 62 packages total. Packages that have not shipped yet include:
1. Parcels whose postage I just didn't get printed today in time to haul off to the post office before the last pickup. Thanks again for everyone's patience. I have had some health and family issues over the past month that took up a lot of time and energy, and which I haven't really wanted to talk about, which is the main reason why I couldn't send these (and the BPAL Weenies) more quickly. It's been 1 week since I received the last order from the Post, so all in all I don't think I've done too shabby :)

11/14 update: Nearly all orders that haven't already shipped are going out tomorrow. On the soap front, apologies for not sending the requested refunds thusfar--I've been prioritizing getting everything possible shipped first. I am sending some refunds out tonight, and the rest tomorrow. I really appreciate everyone's patience so far! All orders sent to US addresses will have tracking numbers. If you'd like yours, just ask.

Three things to note:
1. As usual after a large circle, I have a couple of leftover decants that are unaccounted for--namely, 1 half imp Candy Pumpkin and 2 decants of Fig & White Sandalwood. Please take stock when you get your order, and let me know if there is anything missing--or contrawise, if you were sent any full-size decants you didn't order.
2. There was a leakage issue with one of the original bottles of Honey Hair Gloss, that I was storing with the decants while I portioned things out. As a result, some of the labels for those are a bit oil-stained--so please don't assume your decant is leaky just because the label's messy. I figured people would rather get the decants faster than have to wait while I cleaned and reprinted things.
3. This time around, most of the bath oils, room sprays, and hair glosses seem to have issues with oil separation. Please remember to mix well before using!

11/09 update: Checking in to say that I hope to have at least one round of these packages shipped tomorrow. I picked up a bunch of small and medium flat rate boxes today, but not enough to fill all the orders that need them. Hopefully the PO will be restocked with them tomorrow!

ALSO! I am pretty sure I've personally contacted everyone who ordered soaps, but if I missed you, PLEASE READ THIS! I discovered last evening that I kind of, um, epically screwed up. As in, I didn't order any of the soaps except Port Au Prince and the 2 add-on bars of Xmvlzencab and SGA, and didn't realize until just now.Since the soaps are still up on the site, I can easily order them now--and of course, ship them to you separately from the rest of your order--but you almost definitely won't receive them until after they've gone down from the site. Or, I can refund you for them. It's entirely up to you. I'm so sorry about my mistake :(

The above problems with the soaps will not affect shipping. I'll be sending out all packages ASAP, sans the missing soaps--if I don't hear back from you before then, we will sort it out after your goodies have shipped.

11/08 update: As of 11/02, I've received everything ordered for this circle. I now have most things decanted and am working on labels today. 11/19 update: Just wanted to check in and let folks know that nearly all the stragglers have now shipped. The only packages I have remaining are emma2403, annaham, faerheart, keller, kittenmorag, boompsy. They're all ready to go--since Friday afternoon--but between my illness (which is finally clearing up) and the pouring rain today, I didn't make it to the post office before the 2pm cutoff. So, Monday for those!

Also--I ordered the replacement soaps today, and since I have a wee bit of padding in my account again, I'll be issuing the requested refunds ASAP.

11/16 update: First up, I've been sick for the last couple days (an ear infection that I've had for a week, which suddenly got a LOT worse--I'm mostly functional, but on groggy-making pain killers, thus sleeping a lot and generally taking longer to do things than I normally should) so if you've commented and haven't heard back yet, sorry :( Because of illness-related stuff, I did NOT make it to the post office yesterday, so everything that would have gone out then, went out today. 62 packages total. Packages that have not shipped yet include:
1. Parcels whose postage I just didn't get printed today in time to haul off to the post office before the last pickup. Thanks again for everyone's patience. I have had some health and family issues over the past month that took up a lot of time and energy, and which I haven't really wanted to talk about, which is the main reason why I couldn't send these more quickly. It's been a little over 3 weeks since the final order from the Lab arrived, and I expected the turnaround from me to be about 2 weeks, so I'm definitely behind schedule--but not, I hope, obscenely so!

11/14 update: Nearly all orders that haven't already shipped are going out tomorrow. I really appreciate everyone's patience so far! All orders sent to US addresses will have tracking numbers. If you'd like yours, just ask.

NOTE! As usual after a large circle, I have a couple of leftover decants that are unaccounted for. Please take stock when you get your order, and let me know if there is anything missing--or contrawise, if you were sent any full-size decants you didn't order.

11/08 update: I mailed about 15 orders yesterday, and am in the process of bubblewrapping about 25 more right now. A number of other orders are almost ready to go, but I had a small disaster with the Blood Moon and Ta-Ta decants, as well as a few misc. others. (I spilled water all over them, which means all the labels need to be removed, reprinted, and reaffixed.) So some orders are waiting on that. If you got BPTP decants too, and requested separate shipping, I may end up including said in-need-of-repair decants with your BPTP order. Other orders that will be ready in a day or two are those including goodies ordered from my sale, which haven't been rounded up yet, or those combining their shipping with the BPTPs.

Due to the way timing has worked out, I may end up combining the BPAL and BPTP orders for some folks who requested separate shipping. I'll only do this if it causes no delay to either order. If this happens and I don't remember to refund you excess shipping, please nudge me about it!

Also, apologies for not getting these out a bit faster--I had planned to have some helpers this time, for labeling and packaging, but it seems that pretty much everyone (including me) had some unexpected time commitments crop up over the past 2 weeks. A NOTE ON TURNAROUND TIME: The turnaround times for different etailers varies. Please check their sites to find out when to (approximately) expect their package to get to me.

PACKAGING: I use new standard-sized Pilot vials with no pen clip. Although I use recycled materials whenever possible, I generally use brand-new bubble mailers for convenience on my end. I'd really appreciate it if you could try and reuse the mailers you get from me for future swaps or other mailing needs. All of your stuff will be wrapped in more padding too.

LABELS: I use white standard-sized labels. If I have time, I will make special computer-printed labels with the notes included, but if it's a choice between doing that and getting you your order faster, I will handwrite the labels instead.

FREEBIES: I almost always include freebies with my packages unless I'm totally out of anything. I include things like perfume, stickers, etailer schwag, and occasionally tea or candy. I am NOT currently taking requests for specific empty bottles because it tends to really complicate things

PAYMENT: Payment is required on or before the order date, or your order will be cancelled. I accept any kind of Paypal, but I respectfully request you cover my fees for the transaction. (I get charged fees for all sales.) I use this calculator to determine what those fees will be. All payments go to damon at panavatar dot net. I do not send Paypal invoices; I will reply to you with a total in the comments . I also accept personal checks, no fees required.

LEFTOVERS: Most of the time I try and wait until everyone has their goodies first, but sometimes I may start selling leftovers within a few days after decanting has completed and/or packages have shipped. It just depends on when I have free time to update my sales/swaps page, honestly.

This is my first Haus of Gloi decant circle, and I've only ordered from them once before, but it seems like their turnaround time is about a week. I am going on a camping trip from (roughly) the 24th-31st, and will be placing the order before I go, so it should be here when I get back. It'll take me roughly a week to get these decanted and shipped. I do my very best to get LE decants sent out with time to spare, but nevertheless, I cannot 100% guarantee that they'll arrive in time to sniff and order direct from the source.
