I tested the photo migration feature and ended up migrating all the photobucket watermarked low-bandwidth versions in and now all the links are changed so I'd probably... have to do it manually if I want to fix it...?

I mean it was showing the low-bandwidth watermarked crap most of the time anyway but now it's permanent. Ha, ha.

The one salvageable frame of a failed animation test thing.

House of Five Leaves is a weird, dreamy little anime about kidnappers. Also its art style is pretty tricky to imitate??

Headshots are hard. Expressions are hard. Julian's hair is a nightmare.

Verdict: nothing makes sense, those people really need to actually communicate with each other, it is a mystery why anyone ever believes anything that falls out of Izaya's mouth, Shinra is a bag of dicks (a creepy bag of dicks!), Celty and Shizuo: motorcycle buddies, somebody wants to be the little girl, and I wound up shipping Celty and Anri.

No. 92, Tayira, an undeveloped character from an old story that barely has a plot. I think the main point of that story was “I wanted to draw prettyboys” (´；ω；`). While I was drawing her she somehow turned into a Five Star Stories character.

Opened up Archive of Our Own today, and almost physically recoiled from the screen. What did they do to their design? I realise that skins are now customisable and that is awesome and all, but now I have to wait for someone to code up something to my tastes because I'm not invested enough (read: too lazy) to do it myself. And in the meantime, there doesn't seem to be an option to return to the old style, and the new default is aughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

It’s a fun exercise to draw similar-looking characters side by side in an effort to tweak their differences. Shane wasn’t so much of a problem until I decided to swap his and Julian’s hair colours—and then he was suddenly a dead ringer for Lane, and it didn’t help that their names were so close :(. So now Lane’s hair gets messier and curlier each time I tweak his design, and Shane gets… I don’t know, more and more Bitchy Cheerleader or something.

In theory it wouldn’t be a problem because Lane is kind of stocky and square-jawed, and Shane is a delicate princessbitch with cheekbones to match (plus he and Julian probably don’t have access to a decent food supply anyway). Of course, in practice all my faces just fall like a black hole towards the same weaboo template anyway, so whatever.

So a couple of you might know this (I am pretty sure it is literally a couple of you) but I hopped onto the tumblrwagon recently and immediately fell in love with the easy posting. Also somehow I feel less awkward making posts that consist of two words, or one image, or one image and two words. On LJ I feel like I ought to be tapping out paragraphs, which is okay the point is I've mostly switched to tumblr for my day-to-day posting.

Er, insomuch as I've ever posted in any day-to-day fashion.

I'll still be updating LJ much in the way I've been doing lately--in chunks of thematically organised art, like the recent GE dump. Probably gonna start hotlinking tumblr instead of Photobucket, too, unless they don't let me. Poke me if images don't load, I guess.

School life remains its terrifically procrastination-inducing self. I am currently in a pattern class whose professor seems to let us do anything we want which means I have no idea what to do, and an illustration class whose professor has fairly stringent standards which means I have no idea what he wants, either. Failure, so awesome. Also my roommate won't stop slamming the door. I swear I am terrified of her, she looks so fucking grumpy, 24/7. At some point there I will move beyond fear and into "troll her while snickering inwardly", I suppose, but right now it is not yet there.

So this semester I tried for Digital Painting--because it's always better to be better at digital painting, even though most of the course seems to be realistic shiny painting and/or photomanip of sorts. On the other hand, apparently everyone else thought so too, and the class was full about 3 minutes after registration started.

What was I supposed to do? I needed a studio slot. Figurative Painting to the rescue! No you shut up, obviously I didn't really mean it when I said I was never taking this class because oil painting is so messy and dirty and impossible to clean off and oooohhh, this is fun, I am so springing for Fig 2 next semester if there is one.
