It allows you to bulk change post security, delete posts, find and replace items, repost journal entries to other LJ-compatible servers, and other assorted odds and ends.

This version adds some advanced options that allow you to add / delete / edit the metadata stored in Livejournal entries directly.
Never mind... I worked out the problem.

<s>I've used LJ-Sec several times in the past to bulk-change security levels and things. Today, I re-downloaded it onto a new computer in the hopes of bulk-deleting entries on an old username that I no longer use but don't want to stop name-squatting.

All of the entries on that username are currently marked private, but I want to make them gone completely. However, when I open up LJ-Sec, it shows me no entries at all.

I tried changing the radial buttons - I switched to private, to friends-only, everything I could think of, resynchronized several times, but still nothing comes up. Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

If it matters, the last time I posted to that journal was 8/10/07, but I changed the security to all-private quite recently, perhaps in 2010.

Thanks in advance.</s>

Turns out, it helps if you haven't already deleted everything. *facepalm*

It opens fine, and tells me it's obtaining a synch list, and then I get an error that says "invalid password". The password is correct, I checked it twice, but I know this last update changed some of the remote log-in paths. I thought that was probably the issue. Will there be an lj-sec update coming to fix this? *hopeful*

Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

And then the only option is to "close program." I have rebooted, uninstalled and tried reinstalling but its no good. I am running Windows Vista if that makes any difference. Any ideas on what's going wrong here? Thank you in advance!

It allows you to bulk change post security, delete posts, find and replace items, repost journal entries to other LJ-compatible servers, and other assorted odds and ends.

The following issues were fixed in this release:

Beginning with release 0.75, stand-alone EXEs were provided in addition to the installer. This allows for easier integration with Mono. There was an IE dependency in the 0.75 release that caused LJ-Sec to crash whenever a post is previewed. This release makes this dependency optional; an alternate, .NET-native text display of the post is shown if IE is not found.

After journal updates, the sort and scroll position won't change -- should be more convenient.

Tags have been added as a column for the list view.

Find the download for LJ-Sec at http://www.mp3vcr.com/ljsec/.

LJ-Sec is a bulk journal entry management tool. It allows you to bulk change post security, delete posts, find and replace items, repost journal entries to other LJ-compatible servers, and other assorted odds and ends.

The following issues were fixed in this release:

Metadata was not properly transferred when reposting entries in some previous versions of LJ-Sec. This has now been fixed.

The meta data options for reposting has changed. This is because different sites use different meta data options, and a site may reject a post if invalid meta data is present. So now, by default, only common meta data (mood, music, your user pic, and tags) is transferred over. You can still, of course, attempt to transfer all metadata if you want to.

The "load new configuration and relogin" option now actually works.

Find the download for LJ-Sec at http://www.mp3vcr.com/ljsec/.

I attempted to move 9,100 entries to another journal, but 3,998 were left out, the error log said due to backdate option not being on, but it was.

So I attempted to start moving the ones that got left, and even if I try one at at time, with backdate carefully checked, it gives me the same error. Moving 3,998 entries one by one is not as bad as 9,100, but I'd still rather not have to do it.

Said error:

The following journal entry failed to be posted due to the following server error:
(text of post was here)
Error message: Incorrect time value: Your most recent journal entry is dated 2005-05-02 03:37, but you're trying to post one at 2000-05-04 07:54 without the backdate option turned on. Please check your computer's clock. Or, if you really mean to post in the past, use the backdate option.

EDIT: I figured out why it's those entries, so sorry if this is a known issue. But it's all the ones without subject lines that it saw as being not backdated, if I put anything into the subject line, then it posts it without the backdate error. So I just have to put something in the subject line on the remaining 3,994 unless it starts working.

I have been experimenting with transferring my journal to InsaneJournal, and have some questions about the transfer (or not) of meta data. The help states that "LJ-Sec will normally attempt to transfer extended properties, such as mood, icons, tags, etc" but it doesn't seem to. What conditions make it fail, or not try to?

I have some icons set up but the few posts I've transferred are all set to the default one, even if the keywords match an icon already on IJ. Are icons keywords transferred at all, does anyone know?

No tags have gone across. Do I need to set up empty tags before doing any more reposting?
