Feeling Creative 2024
2024 has been quite the year. In January I decided it was time to pick up my camera and rekindle my photography career. I missed taking photographs and felt something shifted as to where I wanted to go as a creative. My heart told me it was time to give my love of photography another try. I’m glad I did, because 2024 has turned out to be an incredibly creative year!
I know the challenges of running a photography business, so how do I go about taking photos professionally after years of neglecting my craft? I needed some guidance, education, a mentor, and a community of photographers to help get me inspired. I started researching online courses and workshops, and stumbled upon a talented photographer and educator by the name of Steve Carty. Steve’s program, The Carty Method, provides photographers the opportunity to share their photographs, which are reviewed live on YouTube. I started watching Carty’s streams and so much of what Carty had to say resonated with me.
Each week, Carty provides an assignment brief. At the end of each livestream, Carty awards a few select photographers Photo of the Week and Best in Show. I started submitting images to Carty for him to critique and for the world to see.
So, here goes! I’d like to share some new work with you. Here is some new work that received Photo of the Week or Best in Show.
In addition to participating in Carty’s photo reviews, I joined Carty’s photography community, the Pro Accelerator Program — an intense photography and business education program spanning over six months.
I also have an exciting announcement to make: the launch of my brand new website Liza Heider Photography And my new Seattle photography studio will be open for business by the end of the year! If you’re in the Seattle area and need a new headshot or business portrait, I’m here for you.
