Dream 002
Warnings: Character death, confusion? Not canon at all.
Dream Effects: (Optional) Fear and worry, ending with sadness.
[A bolt of lightning splits the darkened sky, the resounding crack making Ukitake cringe and falter as he runs along the beach toward the tumultuous waves, rain pelting his face. Only it is questionable if this is Ukitake. His face is the same, if a little younger and smoother, but his hair…
Is black.
Caring not for any of these details, he continues to run, losing his geta in the soaked sand along the way. He is worried, terrified, and as he gets closer to the crashing waves, a faint cry is heard. From the ocean. Without even a thought, he dives in, fighting the waves trying to carry the voice away from him, trying to usher him back to shore. But he urges himself on, desperate to reach whoever is on the other side of the watery expanse.
The scene continues like this for a few minutes, but Ukitake finally makes it to the other person, struggling so hard to keep their head above the water. It’s a woman, and Ukitake uses all his strength to pull her to him and get her back to the shore.
It is a hard trip, the outgoing waves stalling their progress so much, pushing them back toward the great, wide beyond. Eventually, they get closer and Ukitake lets up just a little bit, sure that they are home free.
Except another wave sweeps in and separates them, pushing the woman toward the shore, but pulling Ukitake back with it. Back into the cold, empty ocean. His hands reach up, fingers painfully outstretched, hoping to grasp onto anything that will bring him back. But nothing is there to save him.
“Jyuushirou!” That woman’s voice is shrill with terror, floating across the distance to his ears when he happens to be above the water. “Jyuushirou, no!” But he knows she’s safe and that is all that matters.
That’s all that matters.
With his strength waning, Ukitake gives a final effort to reach the shore again, but fails as another wave pushes him under the water. And eventually, even his long arms feel the rain, the air no more. He is completely submerged, sinking quickly and unable to return to the living.
Ukitake Jyuushirou feels his body crushed by the pressure of the unrelenting sea and drowns, his eyes watching as the water engulfs him and doesn’t give him back.]
---
[Ukitake wakes with a gasp, shortly followed by coughing, but nothing serious. It's just surprise. He shakily sits up in bed and pushes the cocoon of blankets away from him, feeling smothered. He takes a few seconds to get his quickened breathing under control and looks over to see the Dreamberry recording. He sighs and quickly turns it off.
But it is obvious that his hair is still white in Somarium, unlike his dream self.]
