Linkilo is a comprehensive WordPress plugin designed to help you build a stronger internal linking structure across your website. Internal linking is one of the most impactful on-page SEO strategies — it helps search engines discover and understand your content, distributes link equity (ranking power) across your pages, and guides visitors to related content they care about.

Installation

1. Download the Linkilo plugin .zip file from your account at linkilo.co.
2. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
3. Choose the .zip file and click Install Now.
4. Click Activate Plugin once the installation completes.
5. You’ll be redirected to the Linkilo setup wizard automatically.

Setup Wizard

The first time you activate Linkilo, a guided setup wizard walks you through the essential configuration in 5–6 steps:

Step 1: License Activation

Enter your Linkilo license key to activate the plugin. You can find your key in your account dashboard at linkilo.co. Without a valid license, the plugin operates in limited mode.

Step 2: Global Settings

Configure the core behavior of the plugin:

• Post Types: Select which content types Linkilo should scan and analyze (Posts, Pages, and any custom post types registered on your site).
• Post Statuses: Choose whether to include only published content, or also drafts and other statuses.
• Taxonomy Terms: Optionally include category and tag archive pages in your linking analysis.

Step 3: Google Search Console

Connect your Google Search Console account to pull real keyword performance data (clicks, impressions, average position, CTR) into Linkilo. This data enhances AI suggestions and keyword analysis. You can skip this step and connect later from Settings.

Step 4: SEO Plugin Configuration (Conditional)

If Linkilo detects an SEO plugin (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, AIOSEO, or Squirrly), it will show integration options. This allows Linkilo to pull focus keywords and other data from your existing SEO setup.

Step 5: Link Design

Customize how internal and external links appear on your site. Set icons, colors, rel attributes, and target behavior.

Step 6: Welcome / Completion

A quick overview of the Linkilo dashboard and where to find key features. From here, Linkilo begins its initial content scan in the background.

Initial Content Scan

After completing the wizard, Linkilo automatically scans your entire site to catalog all existing links. This process:

• Indexes every internal and external link across all selected post types
• Counts inbound and outbound links for each page
• Identifies orphan pages (pages with no internal links pointing to them)
• Builds the link database used for reports and suggestions

ℹ Note: The initial scan can take a few minutes for small sites or up to an hour for sites with thousands of posts. It runs in the background and won’t affect your site’s frontend performance.
