There's two kinds of marketing advice:
1. Stuff that sounds really effective because someone tells you how much they made with their 'simple 6 step process that's so good it should be illegal'
2. Stuff that actually works but seems harder to get right
What I like about this book is that it sits in a third bullet point:

This book is really practical but also actually a meaty book. It's full of real examples rather than just relying on the same old tired out case studies. You can tell it comes from helping people to do this for themselves. You can also tell Louis wrote this as a way to make it more available rather than just to get a royalty cheque.
Buy this book. Buy it for your Mum and Dad. Tell them I said hi.

I have consumed Louis's content for years, binge-heard his podcast, and asked him a ton of questions. I honestly felt I wouldn't learn anything I wouldn't know. I am only a few pages in the book, and I bumped into an insight that made me go - "Hang on. That's interesting."
Louis had pointed a flaw in my thinking. During researching for my new service, I was asking questions to the wrong set of people - people who had previously not invested any time or money in the problem, I was going to help them solve. Asking questions to these guys and gals is pointless because they have not felt the pain and/or tried to solve it (yet).
I am now indulging in conversations with people who have already tried to solve this issue for them.
I wonder what lies ahead for me in the book. I am excited.

I've been working in marketing for around 10 years. I've read dozens (if not 100+) books on almost every aspect of marketing, branding, positioning, etc, and have had a lot of success marketing my own business as well as helping my clients and customers market theirs.
Even with all that experience, there were several unlocks Louis' book gave me that helped me reframe and refine my thought process about a couple key aspects of differentiation and positioning, specifically when it comes to the visual design side of things.
I really like the regularity with which Louis comes back to the same fundamental goals and concepts around which all of your marketing should be oriented, and he makes the devilishly difficult process of differentiation feel approachable... and dare I say, even fun.
Can't recommend this book highly enough for anyone looking to create a standout brand.

Bonjour bonjour: Louis Grenier ist eine absolut erfrischende Ausnahme im Marketingberatungsgeschäft. Von Haus an Ingenieur, der sich methodisch und mit sehr viel Intuition und noch wichtiger Praxiswissen daran gemacht hat, das strategische Marketing-Spiel gekonnt zu beherrschen. Sein neues Buch ist für mich der momentane Höhepunkt der letzten Jahre, die ich den Strategie- und Positionierungscoach verfolgt habe. Allein die Betonung und Bewusstmachung der Trigger für die Persona- und daraus folgende Messagingkonzeption ist den Buchkaufpreis wert.
Absolute Empfehlung - auch weil Marketing wieder glaubwürdig und jenseits falscher Versprechen gelehrt wird.
Lustig: Grenier ist Franzose und der Hahn auf dem Titelbild ist ja auch ein Nationalsymbol. Man sagt im Spaß: Er steht mit beiden Beinen in der Sch*#ße - aber singt unbeeindruckt davon. Ich finde, das passt auch sehr gut zu Greniers wichtiger Arbeit, die viel spielerisches hat und wirksam zugleich ist.
Denn der Unterschied zwischen Theorie und Praxis ist in der Praxis weit höher als in der Theorie.
