My niece, Maegen, got her cosmetology license last year and landed a sweet gig at a new salon. Her salon did the hair and makeup for a fashion show featuring Parisian's new Fall look. She also helped with the choreography. We couldn't make it to the show, but thankfully, there is video!

I'm very proud. She's come a long way.

Paul and El left our house Sunday morning, headed for NY. They finally head for home tonight at 10:00 . We had a busy and fun two days while they were here, trying to fit in what we could.   Thursday, we picked them up at the airport and then headed for Manuel's Taco Hut. After that, we had to stop at the grocery store for food and drinks because we were out of everything. Then it was back to the house, to make the bathroom functional. They patiently waited on the couch, watching saved episodes of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, while we dashed about, hooking up the shower.   By that evening, the bathroom was usable - thank god.
Friday - we saw District 9 at the theater. Great movie. Very thought provoking. Love the special effects. Lots of exploding and goo.
Friday night - bowling ! We didn't get any action shots of bowling. It was too dark. They had the black lights on, so I guess we should have worn something fluorescent?
Saturday - we headed to Canada. The Coventry Garden terraces were closed, but we got to walk through part of the gardens. Then we went to the Odette Sculpture Park. The sculptures are lined up along the river.
We headed back to our house for Paul's chili, which we ate after watching "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", which is the perfect movie to see the day before you have to travel.

ETA : Okay, I know the cut for the pics didn't work so you don't have to tell me. To fix it, I have to re-do the post all over again, and fuck that.

A woman hired a stripper to pose as her for her 10 year high school reunion. She apparently hated her high school experience (show of hands. Yep, me too) so she hired the stripper and got a film crew to record the reunion.
She seems like the kind of person I was in school, and the school seems similar too - bunch of rich, spoiled brats who are full of themselves.

Happy Birthday to angelout2killme who turns 42 today. That's twice 21, so drink twice as much!

Those pictures are from our college years. We had loads of fun in New York, and I think the only reason we survived was because we were together ( we had a close call on the subway, when we took the wrong train into crackland).

The last picture is from a 60's Bondage party that we held (dressed in 60's and showed "9 1/2 Weeks") at the house on Winter street.

College would have been completely different without Mary. Not nearly as fun. My fondest memories involve her, and she has introduced me to so many new things.
Even today, I can't imagine my life without her. She's always been there for me.

*raises glass* Here's to you! May we have many more fun and exciting adventures. Don't forget to bring a towel!

computer update

I came in early today to find my computer tower AND back up computer tower gone. You know what that means. Dennis is probably wiping my computer AGAIN, and I'm going to have to work from the back up AGAIN for a week.   Hey Jason, why can't you send someone competent to fix my computer?!

Angelout2killme, do you have any idea why a computer running XP would get stuck on the Windows Start up screen?   All I remember is that when I shut it down on Friday, the message said "Install updates and shut down?" and I clicked "OK" and I left for the weekend.
Not that I'll be able to see your reply to this. I'm on Maria's computer now, before she comes in.

Good thing I brought magazines and my knitting. Yes, Pmoodie, I'm almost done with El's hat, and I'll start the mittens while I'm here :D

The day started out normal enough. I got in to work at the usual time. Turned on my computer. Windows start up screen.......... stuck there. restart 4 more times...... no change. I waited until IT people came in and Dennis (sigh) took the task. While he was sitting dumbfounded at my computer, Michael called. He's at school, in the office. He doesn't feel well. I have to go pick him up. Since my car is no longer insured, that means I'll have to walk there from the bus stop, and we'll have to walk home.
Michael seems to be fine. I think he just needed some rest.

So, it's 3:00 PM. I missed you all today. I have no idea if my computer will boot up tomorrow (probably not, if Dennis was working on it).

Snow here. 1". Snow predicted all week.

Ugh. I had a great time at Cedar Point for the Halloweekend, but now I'm dead tired and somewhat depressed. I don't know if it's because of the complete letdown of fun (being back to work) or if I'm just tired, or if it's something else. I have this feeling of doom in the pit of my stomach. You know, like the one you have on the first day of school? I don't feel like dressing up for Halloween. I don't feel like decorating any more. I don't want to do anything.
