{"id":3266,"date":"2024-05-25T15:33:20","date_gmt":"2024-05-25T13:33:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/linalibrary.com\/?p=3266"},"modified":"2024-05-25T15:33:21","modified_gmt":"2024-05-25T13:33:21","slug":"inviting-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/linalibrary.com\/inviting-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Inviting Life"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The students of the Master\u2019s degree in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces of Elisava (MEATS), led by professors Stella Rahola Matutes and Roger Paez, propose a re-reading of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich\u2019s Pavilion based on its constituent materials. Following the project \u2018Beautiful Failures\u2019 (2019-2021) \u2013 which questioned fragility and vulnerability from the two most delicate materials of the Pavilion\u2019s construction: glass and travertine \u2013 in this second part, \u2018Inviting Life (2021-2023), we explore the changes that transform materials by natural effects from the study of travertine slabs. The growth of mosses and lichens on the Pavilion\u2019s stones is often interrupted by maintenance tasks that seek to give the Pavilion an aspect of invariability that corresponds to its mythical and prefixed image.
