Hello and Thank You!
Tough day on top of a tough four weeks on top of a though couple of years at work that are really not so bad, but have me constantly wondering 'is work really supposed to be this hard, and feel this lonely?', and today, after years and years in which my fingers and my screens have found other comforts, today, my fingers typed 'li' into a browser window and I was like 'what the eff do you want to get out of that fingers?" until I remembered that those letters used to bring up my LJ friends page.
So I went and checked it out, and SO MANY FAMILIAR FACES! Still out there, still doing stuff. I suspect I've dropped off lists and people's radars and all of that, and that's ok, I'm not really active here anymore, and that's a choice I made, but just wanted to send out the happy feelings of a hello and a deeply felt thank you for still being here, still doing stuff, being so brave, and teaching me how to be a better person, with love and smarts, and links, and kindness. I can't tell my organizer colleagues how LJ is really what woke me up politically, to racial inequity and the deep racism in the US, to feminism in a way I didn't know I was missing, to just thinking about how words impact other people and making myself examine how and why to say what I say and do what I do, but it did, and thank you all for that too.
Keep it up. You guys are awesome.
