I've always been a fan of fics like Five People Lily Evans Never Fell In Love With and I thought, why not make a fic exchange using that as the general theme? So, that's what this is! And I also know that so many of us are working on fics for Big Bang Projects and we need a break to write something a little shorter than we can post soon after we finish. Check below the lj-cut for the rest of the information on how you can participate! :)

What You Need To Do/Know To Participate
1. You have to use the 'five things' idea as your prompts, such as "Five People So-And-So Snogged", "Five Places So-And-So Will Never Visit", or other things like that. "Four People So-And-So Hexed (And One He Didn't)" also counts as a 'five things' prompt. ;)
2. Check out the dates below so you know when your fic is due. I understand real life gets in the way, so if you can't write your fic or it's going to be late, just let me know! I promise I won't be upset. :D
3. Fill out the form completely when you sign up!
4. Every fic needs to be at least 1000 words. (It's not as much as it seems, I promise. The fic I linked to above, Five People Lily Evans Never Fell In Love With, is about 1400 words!)
5. Have fun and be creative with your prompts. Try not to do any repeats, please. (If someone puts "Five Times So-And-So Thought She Fell In Love", maybe you can put "Four Times So-And-So Didn't Fall In Love (And One She Did)" or even use another person altogether!)
6. All fics must be beta-read, no exceptions.
7. Writers have the right to pick and choose from the prompts they are assigned. You're not committed to including everything the person you're writing for wants. picspam: britt's best of 2008.

made for picspammy's latest challenge, lol. this style of picspam is really new to me and i'm not sure what i think of it yet, lol. it's kind of a combination of a few different ones i've seen and really liked. the layout of the pictures/words in each banner is something i saw in a few different picspams over the past few days. it seems popular lately, so i just wanted to give it a try (and put my own spin on it, obviously). the big white space with a light grey border is from a ton of picspams/banners/etc that float around lj. i think it turned out okay, if i do say so myself! ;) anyway, this is basically a review of everything i consider to be the best of 2008. not everything was made, written, or recorded in 2008. in fact, most things in this picspam arent'! it's mostly just things i loved during this year. :) enjoy, and remember: comments are appreciated! this took me three days to finish, rofl. ♥

5 reasons jasper wants bella to be a vampire
and he knows that this is why he needs Edward to change
her. Because he knows he won't make it through the funeral
of the girl he secretly loves.

1. Jasper walks up behind Bella slowly as she dips her toes in the ice cold swimming pool. She sits there peacefully, a look of worry etched across her face. He can feel the way her chest constricts with fear of what's to come in these next few months. He eyes her wearily, debating whether he should sit down next to her or leave her to her thoughts. And then he thinks how much easier of a decision it would be if Edward would just give in and change her, so he wouldn't wish for death everytime he smells her blood.

2. As Edward pulls away from Bella, her cheeks flush red from the intensity of their kiss. When they lean in again, Jasper crushes a vase in his hand, causing them to both jump back in surprise. His eyes are narrow, and he can't clear his mind fast enough. If only he'd just change her, he growls interally. Then I wouldn't have to hear how her heart skips a beat evertime he comes within a foot of her. All he sees is Edward's furious expression before he flees the room.

3. Bella's shoulders slump over as another sob racks through her body. He knew Edward should have never left her and it made him feel even worse that he was the cause. Her shoulders shake and he has to look away, gasping for breath as her pain envelopes him. In this moment, Jasper would give anything for her to be a vampire just so he could wrap his arms around her without fear of killing her on the spot.

4. Alice waves goodbye to Bella as she links arms with Edward and Emmett. It's their turn to hunt this weekend and Jasper has promised Edward that he'd be the one to look after Bella. She flops onto the couch and Jasper watches her closely. Her lower lip comes out to form a pout and he bites back a smile. The urge to kiss her is overwhelming, but he holds back for now. He knows it will be the first thing he does after she's changed.

5. He watches Edward and Bella through the window, their hands gripping onto each other's as they whisper back and forth. He smiles wistfully at Bella, knowing she can't see him and that Edward isn't intruding on his private thoughts. His mind reels with thoughts of her, watching her age from 17 to 30 to 70. He sees himself at her funeral, sobbing tearlessly beside her grave. And he knows that this is why he needs Edward to change her. Because he knows he won't last through the funeral of the girl he secretly loves.

You watch him grab for tools you don't know the names of and work on your motorcycles. Every once in a while, he glances up at you as he talks to make sure you're listening... and you are. You hang on his every word and listen to him rant about school, Billy, and his friends.

Day after day, you sit in the Rabbit and drink soda as he works. Every time you catch his soft brown eyes looking at you, your heart beats a little faster and you smile a little wider.

When Embry and Quil join you in the garage during one of Jacob's breaks, you scoot a little closer to him than you were before. He always smile at you and wraps an arm around your shoulder.

You almost feel bad for giving him hope that things could be more than what they are. But you don't stop, because a small part of you wants to believe you could be more than just the friends you've become. That maybe, just maybe he'll be able to heal your broken heart and make you whole again.

When you stay for dinner with him and Billy, it feels like home in the cramped space. And when you tell him you should be getting home, he offers to walk you out to your old, beat up truck. He rests his hand on the small of your back when he leads you out the front door and it gives you a butterfly sensation in your stomach.

After you get in, he shuts the door of your truck and smiles.

Tomorrow? he asks hopefully and your heart flutters happily. A slight pang of guilt hits you for feeling this way, but you can't help it.

Tomorrow, you say. He smiles and you can't help but smile back. He waves at you from the driveway until you're out of sight.

He shows up at your house in the pouring rain to make sure your truck will make it to school. He knows you've been having trouble with it lately and he wants you to be safe.

You smile and assure him it will be fine, but he follows you in his car just to make sure. And when you arrive at school and he waves goodbye, Jessica asks if he's your boyfriend. You say no, that he's just friend. She just smiles and nods, but you know she thinks it's something more.

You go to hug him goodbye after you finish your first homework session, but he kisses you instead. You don't move for a moment, because you haven't decided whether or not you're ready for this. But you know it's now or never, so you kiss him back.

He smiles against your lips and you don't regret your decision. When he asks you to go out on a date with him, you only hesitate for a second before saying yes.

On your first date he treats you to a movie and ice cream afterwards. It's a perfect night and you laugh at every joke he makes and smile when he catches your eye.

When he orders the ice cream cones, he remembers your favorite flavor and how you like two scoops, because one just isn't enough. He also knows to grab extra napkins, because you're clumsy and you're likely to make a mess. Normally, you wouldn't find this funny, but tonight, it's adorable.

He gives you a silver ring for Valentine's Day, a promise ring he calls it. You smile at the sweet gesture and allow him to slip it onto the ring finger of your left hand.

I promise we'll always be together, Bella, he says as he kisses your lips softly. You don't know what to say in return, so you just kiss him back and that seems like more than enough to him.

White roses had always been her favorite flower, he thought wistfully. He thought back to their 7th year at Hogwarts when he’d had given Lily a dozen roses for her birthday and she’d practically sobbed into his chest, telling him how beautiful they were. Of course, they kept it their little secret, because James wouldn’t have approved of his best friend giving his girlfriend such a meaningful gift. But instead of smiling at the wonderful memory, his face showed signs of mourning and pain.

How he’d managed to make it through this past decade, he wasn’t sure. All he knew now was that he was alive and breathing, but Lily was not. He choked back a sob as tears welled up in his eyes.

No. He would not cry today of all days. It was Lily’s birthday… her first birthday since he’d escaped from Azkaban. He’d never forgotten her birthday, not even after all these years of being away from the rest of the world.

He walked along the slippery path, keeping his balance on the frozen ground. Silently, he entered the graveyard where the love of his life and his best friend were lying beneath the snow, resting there for all of eternity. How he longed to rest along side her, caressing her hand, and whispering sweet nothings into her ear. What a mistake it had been, letting her go when he had his chance to stop them at the wedding. She’d asked him to tell her the truth, to tell her how he really felt, but in his usual arrogant way, he told her everything was in order and that her destiny was waiting for her at the end of the aisle. And so, she walked towards James Potter that day, and vowed to love him forever.

He found it harder and harder to breathe in the cold as he continued to walk toward the marble white headstones, the ones he helped Remus pick out. That day had been one of the hardest of his life, and of course, when Remus saw him fall to the ground in his vulnerable state, begging the higher powers to bring them back to him, Remus had assumed that this was all part of grieving over his best friend. But what his friend didn’t know was that he wasn’t only crying for the loss of his best friend, but for the love of his life.

He soon came to a stop in front of that white marble, the engraved writing standing out against the stone.

He wiped his eyes silently, mourning for the loss of the two most important people in his life. He waved his wand, murmuring an incantation of some sort. A bouquet of 12 brilliant white rose came from the end of his wand. He gently laid them over Lily’s grave, tracing over the letters of her name engraved on the headstone.

He loved James with all his heart, they’d been best friends for many years and went through the toughest of situations together, but Lily… she was the love of his life and losing her devastated him more than anything else. And maybe it was wrong for never having told his best friend just how much he loved Lily, but he new it would have broken James’ heart completely. So, maybe it was better this way.

He let a tear fall down his cheek as he closed his eyes, a vivid image of Lily forming in his mind. Her beautiful red hair falling down her back, her bright green eyes wrinkling from the radiant smile that constantly played on her lips.

Sirius’ heart broke a little more than he thought humanly possible as he opened his eyes, her angelic face disappearing, the warmth and comfort that had spread throughout him becoming as cold as ice. If only there was a cure for broken hearts, he thought to himself, but at least they’d always have white roses.
