Lighthouse Lunacy brings back the joy of old school platform jumping and puts pure puzzles into the mix to create something distinctly new.
Another unique touch is a comic strip story that is artfully interwoven with the actual game play and level design. The story involves Fred, the reluctant mascot of the game, and his boss, the game designer.
We keep our games lean clean, game designer Anders Hansson says, By cutting them down to their bare essentials, we make games that are to the point. More importantly, by employing the bare essentials to their fullest potential, we are able to make games of considerably depth compared to the overblown mish-mash that flood both the hardcore and casual part of the game industry.
The puzzles of Lighthouse Lunacy utilize only three different kinds of boxes and the ways to use them and their reasons for being there make perfectly sense. This means that players never have to memorize rules but can pick up and play at any time. Progress in the game is only limited by the smartness and creativity of the player.
Anders continues, Stories in puzzle games are basically silly fluff with little connection to the actual game. Not so in Lighthouse Lunacy. Hints to the levels and clever comments on the game itself and its three participants (game designer, game character game player) make the story an integral part of the experience.
