General.

Q: Who owns this community?
A: I'm waysides, writer and aspiring artist/photographer. Occasionally you'll see posts from my good friend, mergana, who is the co-owner. I started this community after being inspired by the graphics I've seen on livejournal, and to increase my knowledge of and experience with visual art

Q: Can I join your community?
A: Yes. But posting is restricted to myself and mergana. Membership is open and the first few entries are public, as sort of a preview. If you have anything you'd like posted, promoted, ect please drop a comment by going to contact at the links the User Info page, or P.M. one of our maintainers (contact waysides or contact mergana). If you are a maker, and would like to display your graphics in this community, applications are here.

Q: Do I have to credit for the works of yours that I use? How do I credit?
A Yes, but only in the sense that credit is very much appreciated but not strictly enforced. The reason I like for credit to be given is so that if someone likes an icon or resource of mine that you use, they can easily find their way back here.
When crediting, please © all works to waysides @ lightboxes

Q: Why do you ask that I comment with what I'm taking if these graphics are intended for public use?
A: I ask that you comment to me in posts as to which images you are taking because it helps me to know what you and other users like, and what styles I should continue with in the future.
It's also nice to hear that people like certain things that I may or may not have appreciated myself when posting.

Q: You didn't credit username for their images / resources / etc!
A: I do my best to list web sites that I take images and resources from, but I miss some all along the way. Letting me know that I am using something is encouraged, but I don't feel it is my duty to run around and beg to use images when they on a public domain like Flickr or Photobucket. Unless the owner of said image and/or resource contacts me directly, I will not remove anything inside this community.

For specific credit, you can access my weheartit account. I save all images used in this and other communities here. This is also where you can find the original images. NOTE: Due to circumstances beyond my control, only the images from posts made after 28 June, 2011 can be found on this account. If you have questions about graphics from before this date, please contact me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible

Q: I commented on your posts but you didn't answer me. Why?
A: I try to answer comments as quickly, efficiently, and as often as possible. However, I maintain a personal journal, several other communities, and post in three other graphics communities in addition to lightboxes - all of which of which I update quite frequently. Depending on the time of year, my life can be pretty hectic. Other times, my email wonks out and doesn't notify me. Give me a few days and I'll usually get back to you.

Q: Will you affiliate with my icon journal/community/etc?
A: Yes! Just leave a comment at this post, and I'll add you back as soon as I can.

Q: How can I make my layout look like yours?
A: My layout, Until You Are Ready To Confess, credited to minty_peach, is used with Flexible Squares. It is available for Plus, Paid and Sponsored accounts. I have made edits to it the userpics CSS.

Q: I can't find a certain graphic. Do you have archives?
A: Indeed I do. I have the regular LJ generated archives which will direct you to search by the date of the post. Each post is also categorized in the tags list. I suggest using the last method, which is, in general, more organized.

Q: Would you like to join my community/friend me?
A: Probably. If you'd like me to take a look, leave a comment here with the name and a sentence summarizing the goal and/ or type of community/ journal. I'm always open to checking out new communities and journals of any sort. Please don't be offended if I decide not to join, though.

Q: Will you promote my graphics related community/journal here?
A: Yes! I do monthly promotional posts in which I will promote up to ten graphics journals. All you have to do is comment there :)

Q: You link to your graphics posts in brightblinds and sundaysecretss. Those communities are members only and I don't want them clogging up my friends list all the time, but I'd like to view your posts; is there anything you can do about this?
A: I'm aware all graphics posts in these communities are members only. Unfortunately, the policies are entirely up to the community owners and therefore out of my hands. My suggestion would be to join and add a filter to your friends list so you can avoid the posts you aren't interested in.

Q: The community profile states that lightboxes contains adult content. What does this mean?
A: Because I see sex and the human body is an art form, some of my graphics feature nudity or sexually themed images. I do my best to tag posts with explicit content individually, but inevitably I'll miss some along the way, so if you are weary of nudity just be cautious when going through them. If you happen across an explicit post that isn't labeled, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Q: I don't want to join, but I'd like to see your graphics, what should I do?
A: Most of my entries are members only, but if you're just visiting, you're welcome to check out the public entries tag :)

Graphics/Resources.

Q: Do you take icon requests and/or are open to suggestions?
A: Sometimes I will do request posts, but if you're really interested in something specific, please contact me.

Q: You posted fulfilled graphics requests. I really like the results, but they were made for another user, does this mean I can't use them?
A: Most of my requested graphics will be shareable, but it's up to the user who requests them. The entry will state whether they are shareable or not, and if it doesn't specify you can assume they are. In which case you are welcome to them!

Q: Where did you find this or that? Do you have the original image of ____?
A: I have all my resources listed in this post. Due to limited space on my computer, I often do not save the original image. And no, I will not track down the original of any icons or banners I make. I delete images once I have made them into icons, so please don't ask; I will only send you to my resources or to my weheartit account, which is linked above.

Q: Can I use your icons on other sites as my avatar?
A: Yes! Go right ahead. If the site allows you to link to this community, please do so. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

Q: I would like to add your icon(s) to my fan site, fanlisting, etc, may I?
A: Of course! I'd appreciate it if you could link back to this community (http://community.livejournal.com/lightboxes/). and add a note that they were made by me, waysides. Please don't hotlink my images, upload them to the site you are putting them on. And if you do decide to, let me know!

Q: May I nominate one of your icons for an icon contest/awards community?
A: Yes, of course but do let me know. I like to keep track in the case I actually win.

Q: How do I make the userpics bigger?
A: In Flexible Squares, find .userpic img, .userpicfriends img and replace the width and height to what size you want them to be in pixels.

Q: Can I edit any of your graphics?
A: Feel free to change the sizes, or add text to banners, headers, icons, or anything along these lines- I only ask that you let me know before you do so. And as always, don't claim as your own once edited.
