Instead of spending yesterday in a nationalistic fervour, I nerded out with my friend by re-watching all of Firefly and the Serenity movie whilst he cleared viruses off my laptop and I ate sushi. Good times.

Talking of Whedon, unpopular opinion but I THINK CABIN IN THE WOODS IS MORE ENJOYABLE THAN THE AVENGERS. There. I said it. Come at me :P

Also moorspede relevant to our fangirl interests, Nathan Fillion said this "When pressed on who of the cast is the best Shakespearean actor, Fillion doesn’t miss a beat, “Alexis Denisof – the guy will make you cry…”."

Adam Lambert is currently in London, now doubt looking wonderful and being all cupcakey-of-a-person and I cant go ~~stalk~~ see him because of family obligations ;__;

So I shall have to make do with watching his THX 118 meets 80s neon realness video over and over again!

★ There's not a huge amount on there, but Greatest Animal Photobombers Of All Time is possibly the lulziest ten minutes you could waste on the interwebs..

★ Adam Lambert's AMAZING [yes I'm biased by my very thick stan goggles, but Rolling Stone gave it 4 stars!] new album TRESPASSING comes out on Tuesday. Y'all should buy it. Just saying.

★ You can listen to a stream of Trespassing here. I am SO SO HAPPY that the album has exceeded even my irrational fan expectations. And it's one of those albums where my favourite song changes with each listen. But OMG HIS VOOOOOOIIIIIICCCE ♥ ♥ ♥

★ I bought Butter London's Disco Biscuit nail polish the other day. So pretty and summery!! I may also have bought a few other of their polishes, but I clearly have an addiction problem. Help!

★ Whilst you're all watching quality films like The Avengers, I saw The Viral Factor which has to be one of the best dumb blockbusters I've seen in ages. Probably a combination of the eye-candy and 'OH NOES I'M BUT A POOR PETTY CRIMINAL WITH MY LAW-AGENT-WITH-A-BULLET-IN-HIS-BRAIN BROTHER AND THE TERRORISTS HAVE A NEW STRAIN OF SMALLPOX AND WE MUST STOP THEM' plot lolololol.

★ Is it me, or has Supernatural perked up a bit this half of the season? I've really enjoyed the last few episodes.

Flist, have you ever had the thing where one TV show influences your reading of another?

This week I managed to have my current re-watch of all five seasons of Angel [omg I miss that show] totally colour my watching of Supernatural. LOL. I shall spare you my rambling inner-monologue on shades-of-grey TV, suffice to say I eventually realised that much as I love SPN it is in no way as character-nuanced as Angel and that I can't ascribe motives from a person on one show to a person on another.

All of which is to say, I went from an initial 'oh I get why Dean did that' to 'Eh? Didn't Dean work through these issues back in Season 2?' to 'Jensen is so pretty'.

Anyway, it got me thinking about TV characters that I love. And there are quite a few. But at the end of the day, my all time bestest, most beloved character is:

Yup. Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. I could, but I won't, go on for days about his smartness and complexities and tragicness and steely-innercore [as well as his good looks because, hello, shallow here] that make me so attached to him.

And its not that I think he's perfect, quite the opposite, but the fact that the show allowed us to see his flaws, see his growth, see him continue to try and be good and just and do what is right even when he could and should have walked away is a testament not only to what can be achieved by a show that values continuity over AHA look at our fancy plot that makes no sense but goes boom!, but also to what an impact genuinely-nuanced acting can have.

LOL I so lied when I said I wont go on about it :P

I will say that rounding out the rest of my top faves are characters of a similar trope - all very smart, slightly cynical, sarcastic and very good at what they do: CJ Craigg & Toby Zeigler [West Wing], Rodney McKay [SGA], Simon Tam [Firefly], Robert Goren [L&O:CI] and Dean Winchester.

Just the other week I was talking to ungratefulwench and moorspede about guilty pleasure TV. You know those shows where you've seen every episode but never, ever talk about it.

Last night, in a wondrous collision of things I get happy about, ADAM LAMBERT turned up on my guilty pleasure TV show being pretty and smart and spouting bon-mots ♥ ♥ ♥ That show is of course...drum-roll please...Project Runway.

Even though I know fuck all about fashion and tend to dress like a five year old from the 70s, I cannot help but enjoy watching people make something out of nothing whilst bitching about everyone around them. I love it so much that I've seen the British version, the American one, the Canadian one and the Australian one. Now you all know my TV secret because I refuse to feel shame about this.

But in the interests of fairness, you should all tell me your guilty pleasure TV show! I fail at getting a poll to work today, but there's plenty of space in the comments :P

Also: am I right in thinking there's new Supernatural tonight? *excite!* *bounce bounce bounce*

YES! It's time for another getting to know my flist question. I can already feel your excitement :P

This one is inspired from me hitting the new 'friends of friends' link in the header, where I saw interests ranging from politics to Disney and vaginas to celebrity gossip. I know my journal runs along the lines of SUPERNATURAL! JENSEN'S FACE! ADAM LAMBERT OMG HEART EYES ILH! KITTENS! SHOES! ADAM LAMBERT! But I'm curious as to what you guys are into o'flist.

*g* I'm not sure of all the many different fandoms out there. A few I've seen in your posts, other I ganked from having a look at fandom secrets. I've still probably left out some major ones, so feel free to tick 'other' and then cuss me out for my ignorance in the comments.

Also I was going to presume you all read fic, especially J2 fic, seeing as I think a lot of you [initially] friended me because of my recs, but I didn't want to assume. Or am I just trying to justify a DUH opening question?
