[Lithuania falls out of bed in his rush to get up--there's a confused, half-realized instinct to defend himself still clawing at his veins until he remembers the finer details of what happened before he found himself in the bed (or on the floor, as it were). It's the first time he's died, and he has to look himself over in the mirror to make sure he's not still injured, even though he knows he's not. Well...

Well. He can't dwell on it.]

A; 1333 Benny Road {backdated to 25th}
[Normally, Lithuania gives gifts on Christmas Eve, but there wasn't really time for that, given the situation. He's even prepared one for Russia, seeing as the other nation was at his house. Thus, Madoka (a box of handmade stuffed animals), Lyra (some outfits more suited to running around with her Pokemon than dresses and skirts), Fluttershy (a kitten), and Russia (sunflowers, in a similarly sunflower-designed vase) will be receiving their gifts this morning.

Incidentally, he'll also take guests, if anyone wants to stop by.

And apologize.

For certain behavior over the past week.]

B; 1333 Benny Road entrance/porch
[Lithuania hadn't gotten around to opening the large package he'd received--he'd assumed, having gotten back the memories he'd traded away to get the pony for Poland, that it had just contained his knight armor. He was, therefore, planning on carrying it upstairs. But it really was even heavier than before.

That's why he trips on the rug, tips open and breaks the box, and gets half washed away and half buried in the pieces of amber that spill out onto the porch and the entryway of the house.]

[Lithuania has something of a renewed, if subdued, sense of purpose. Not one to sit and mope, he's decided that if he has to be a "fake", and then be forgotten, he will still have a Christmas with his false family, most of which are just as fake as he is.

And he's not about to skimp on presents for everyone else, either. He'll give the girls something on Christmas Eve, but he'd rather get some of them out of the way now.]

A; the grocery store
[Lithuania seems to be buying a ridiculously large amount of paper drinking straws. The following have been gifted anonymously, left out in a way that they won't go anywhere until their recipient gets them.
America: A large basket of various baked goods.
Hungary: Poppy seed cookies.
Koharu: This dress.
Sora: A huge basket of food.
Ukraine: Mittens, with sunflowers on them.
Estonia: A neatly wrapped, if large, package.
[When Lithuania wakes up, he has to scrub his eyes. It isn't often he has dreams that bad or that vivid, but he doesn't think anything of it, walking around the quiet house, until he hears the television, and hears his name. Was that really-- But he's not gone, that's obvious enough. A mistake?]

A; phone (or action for 1333 Benny Road)
U-um, I'm still here, actually...

[Lithuania's tone is incredibly subdued. He's just not feeling up to much of anything right now.]

B; around Mayfield
[He's not entirely sure he actually has to go to work, if he's "not here". More importantly, there are more supplies in the store, so he should at least see to it that his house is stocked properly. He'll be out in the stores today. Of course, this just means a creepy doppleganger is taking supplies you could use, right?]

(OOC: Lithuania's disappeared, so respond to him as if he were a doppleganger!)

Outside 1333 Benny Road
[Lithuania hasn't been exactly himself the last week and a half or so. Oh, he's been close--really close, easily enough to fool anyone who doesn't know him well--but he's been quieter. He hasn't gone to check on anyone after Mayfield's event, and in fact has only been at work the bare minimum required amount of time to not get droned. It's usual for him to keep to himself, but not nearly this much. He can feel himself getting wound tighter each day, so when the package he was expecting arrives, he's not entirely sure he wants to open it--after all, it could always be something awful. Of course, he opens it anyway.

And that's why Lithuania is just kind of standing on the sidewalk next to the mailbox, holding his state flag like he either wants to collapse on it in tears or cling to it adoringly forever.

Either way, he's kind of blocking the sidewalk.]

This will not apply in Oregon Trail. Aside from this, nations are a bit stronger/faster/have more endurance/heal faster than a normal human. Lithuania also has a ridiculously high pain tolerance.
CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Hetalia; actual history

CHARACTER PERSONALITY: Lithuania is generally easy to get along with: while somewhat introverted (though he's the most outgoing of his Baltic state "siblings"), he is willing to do a lot for those he gets to know, possibly to the point of being walked all over. He tends to take care of people, putting their needs before his own, and generally holds in his troubles. Having spent time living with Russia has made him willing to endure just about anything: to Liet, anything is better than living with Russia again. His time spent under Russian domination has made him come to hate most things associated with the larger nation, although he can't quite bring himself to hate Russia (the personification, that is). This doesn't stop him from being terrified of the man, though.

While most of the time he is mild-mannered and courteous, his personality changes in times of war and when he is called upon to fight. A good, bold leader, he takes on a serious air in battle and is not afraid of leading a charge or calling upon his people to do what they must for the glory of their nation. In times past he was known as a force to be reckoned with, and while he may not be as powerful as before, he hasn't lost the battle aura.

Liet enjoys martial arts, literature, and good food. He's rather particular about the last, actually, although if he has to he can stomach sub-par foods. Still, he's more likely to simply cook himself if he can get away with it.

Lithuania, being a fairly old nation, has a lot of experience in war at many different time periods, making him a versatile soldier, be it on horseback with a sword or on foot with a gun. While no more powerful than a human, his skill is considerable. He is also surprisingly good at leading on a battlefield, with a good eye for strategy and the courage to help those he is allied with even at risk to himself.

Lithuania also makes a rather good housekeeper from having done so in Russia's and America's houses. He is extremely good at guessing the needs of a person before they realize they need it. He's also not half-bad at cooking. He can also speak Polish and Russian alongside his native Lithuanian (and whatever language it is that he uses to speak with the other countries: presumably English or Japanese).

Lithuania is not a terribly strong country anymore; his age of dominance was long ago. Having spent a good chunk of his history, especially recently, under Russian control, he has a distaste for things associated with it and a well-founded fear of Russia. His tendency to put his own desires and needs on the back burner can also create problems--Lithuania as a country has the highest suicide rate in the world. Being interested in martial arts doesn't mean having particular skill with them, as well: Lithuania without weapons is, while perhaps able to last longer than the average person on skill and some hand-to-hand combat knowledge, not a particularly effective fighter.

WORLD: Lithuania's world is more or less the world as we know it, though there are a few differences. The personifications of nations is a big one, of course, but on top of that there are aliens (the little grey big-eyed kind), magical creatures (though only Norway and England can see that stuff), and occasional intrusions from other worlds, usually around holidays.

OCCUPATION: baker

SAMPLES
THIRD PERSON: Lithuania was not one to shirk duty, especially in this new sort of world where constantly keeping track of the movements, motivations, and political stances of the other countries and various parties throughout the world. But even a country needed a break, and so he found himself slipping out through a backdoor--no one knew the ins and outs of Lithuania better than him--and heading for the countryside.

He remembered long days spent working the fields with Poland--though Lithuania had been doing most of the work--and found himself sitting on top of a hill and enjoying the breeze and silence and being away from the political world, if only for a few moments. Later he would have to return, for he had a meeting with Poland today, and then there was something his boss wanted to discuss, and of course there was no end to the information that constantly twisted and flowed around them. Being a small country in a world such as this was a tremendous balancing act.

But for now he sprawled on his back and traced patterns in the clouds with his eyes, sinking into the grass and dozing off, dreaming of simpler times.

He awoke with a start. Well, it was more of a push. With a cry, he found himself tumbling down the hill haphazardly, and he squeezed his eyes shut until his body came to a stop at the bottom of the hill. He heard laughter.

"You should see your face!" It was Poland, grinning down from the top of the hill. "You are, like, way too easy to sneak up on, y'know?"

Lithuania blinked, smoothing down his hair--where had his hat gone?--and trying to sort out his sense of balance. Why was Poland--

"What time is it?" Lithuania cried, jumping up and almost falling over again in his haste.

"You're late," Poland declared, seeming far more amused than angry.

"A-ahhh!" And Lithuania was running up the hill; oh, where was his hat, he was in enough trouble already, if he came back looking so unprofessional on top of that what were they all going to say?

Poland waved Lithuania's hat cheerily. "Looking for this, Liet?"

"P-Poland! Give that back!"

Lithuania chased him all the way to the meeting room.

FIRST PERSON: Ah, I knew we shouldn't have gone into the mountains this late...

[Lithuania is looking rather miserable, standing not only in the snow but in the dark just outside the wagon, which looks as if it's missing at least one wheel.]

Is anyone up here who has a spare wagon wheel? I suppose we'll make due if we have to, but...

[He frowns back at the wagon.]

I can trade food. We've got more than enough of that. A lot of bread, especially, and dried meat. If you're close enough one of us can travel a little bit to get it. Thank you.

NOTES: N/A

Bakery
[It's October, which means stores are getting ready for Halloween! And the bakery is no exception; Lithuania's found himself with an excess of pumpkin, bat, and skeleton cookie cutters, and he's putting them to good use. Currently, he's decorating a freshly cooled batch, putting probably more care into the way they look than the drones would. Baking has always been a bit of a source of escape for Lithuania, so if it involves making the very best skeleton cookies he can, well, he'll do that.

He's also set out some free sample cookies, if you'd like to <strike>steal the whole tray</strike> try some.

Aside from that, he can be found switching various things from its early fall colors to Halloween colors--everything seems distinctly orange and black.]

In particular he's checking the park and the school--Lyra often trains at the park, after all, and maybe they'd had to go to school to avoid a droning. Though really they should have told him if that was true.

He's doing more avoiding fights than taking zombies on head-on, but he has a gun and sword and they've both seen use in his little search.]

Miss Madoka?
[Lithuania woke with a bit of a start--waking up somewhere he wasn't supposed to be was never a good thing for the nation, after all. Finding himself in a hotel room wasn't exactly expected, but probably wasn't ultimately much stranger than waking up in Mayfield. But what is he wearing? And the style of this hotel... And a quick glance next to him reveals that Rose is with him (although he hasn't seen what she's wearing yet).

Well.]

Ah, Miss Rose?

A; 1333 Benny Road

[Well, it was obvious something had started happening, given the phone calls and also the being attacked by Koharu. Droning happened randomly, sometimes, but not this many... But it happened when you broke a rule, too, right? And drinking the milk was the law. So was that how it was going to be?

So far his house seemed quiet enough--no one had started happily murdering anyone else, though he would have to keep the girls inside so no one else did that to them.

But first, he's staring down the last bottle of Milkman-delivered milk in the house. He was emptying out all the others when it occurred to him.

Well, he's not going to let anyone else drink it.]

B; Phone {directed at CR but not locked as such}

[His throat sounds very rough and strained.
Phone; action for 1333 Benny Road and its closet of Communists

[Lithuania happens to be right outside the closet he locked all his false Communists in for their own protection. So you guys get to listen to this too! Be happy you are included!]

I'm really getting tired of all this talk about Communism--when you actually experienced it, hearing all these people who have no idea what they're talking about claiming to be part of it just makes me sick to my stomach. I-I mean that literally, by the way; the more I'm worried the worse my stomachache gets, i-it's really annoying, and I'm out of pills for it right now. I-I should go get more, but I have to watch Miss Hungary and Miss Ukraine and Estonia and Miss Madoka here, I can't just wander off. M-maybe I should ask but I really don't like admitting to having problems like that, I can take care of them myself...

E-except I can't stop talking right now, or I would, I-I'm really sorry if you're listening to this, i-it's ridiculous, isn't it? But it just keeps getting worse and I'm afraid I'm going to start calling myself a Communist too, and I'm not, that's the last thing I'd ever say I was, so if I do start saying that just--stop me, somehow, I suppose. It bothers me that Estonia is saying it, especially. I mean, he's not exactly my brother, he's--my cousin, kind of distant, really. But h-he's like my brother, even if he doesn't think so--even if it really hurts sometimes when he talks about wanting to be a Nordic. I don't mind, he can be whatever he wants, but it's as if being Baltic is bad, and I did something wrong. T-that's ridiculous, right? But I w-worry too much, all the time, really. But if being Nordic would make him happy then I don't mind...

I-I really just want to keep a few people here safe, though it's hard and I've already messed it up a few times because I'm not that strong anymore. I used to be, really, but then a lot of things happened. That's mostly Russia's fault, or it's what I say, but really I know there were a lot of reasons, and I blame Poland a lot too. That's not fair to say here w-when he's not even here to defend himself but a-a lot of the time I really hate him for a lot of things he's done, like the Commonwealth and taking Vilnius from me and bullying me now and...

...I-I should put down the phone. Um. I'm really sorry, if you listened to all of this.

In normal history, she takes Latvia from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (they'd taken Latvia back from Sweden while she was distracted). In this history, she chaSES down Russia and totally decimate her, at cost of losing Latvia but gaining more security for Estonia, occupying and influencing Russia for a great deal of time.

It goes without saying Russia's lack of influence changed history a great deal, especially for the Commonwealth. Without Russia to infiltrate and evenntually play a key role in their partitioning, Poland and Lithuania were able to introduce a Constitution reforming the shaky Commonwealth and putting it back on its feet. That they had managed to come out of the aforementioned fight having gained territory helped, too. Reformations were based on the American and British system; commoners had power in the country, and unification was strengthened. There were a few arguments--for the first time in a long time Lithuania could back up his side with political power. Eventually the nation would become Poland-Lithuania, with two official languages (they kept the dual capital system, though, because really they could never settle that).

During the war of Austrian Succession, the Commonwealth and Sweden both attempted to work together to take land from Prussia. While this failed, it began a common pattern of the Commonwealth agreeing to work with Sweden (which was just good sense, as Sweden had a great deal of control in the area). In the Seven Years War, things went better, and Prussia's land was partitioned over the years (Prussia himself is with his Polish-controlled lands, and Lithuania tries to ignore this fact because oh my god why is Prussia living with them go away Prussia).

From there the Commonwealth slowly ceased to be a Commonwealth and started to be just one nation, Poland-Lithuania. Their population is large, both due to their large amount of territory and the fact that they have a great deal of tolerance for religious views and cultures. And without Russia, they recover their influence and regain the status of a major European power.

There was no World War I as it was in our world, but there was a World War II from the German and Austrian area that happened in roughly the same time period as the actual one. Poland-Lithuania, being next door and often fighting with Austria anyway, went to war against them and this time, while suffering heavy casualties, did manage to stay in one piece and help drive them off (incidentally, America was far more involved in the Pacific this time; the bombs were still dropped).

Because of Russia's lack in power, it was China in which communism took root and a Cold War of sorts between China and America took place. Poland-Lithuania was never part of this, and remained a capitalist republic.

Modern times bring many of the same innovations to Poland-Lithuania that exist in our world. The League of Nations succeeded the first time around, and so it is that Poland-Lithuania are members of. Things are relatively peaceful for Lithuania; Poland-Lithuania is still a major power in Europe (though America rose much the same way and is his usual self). Terrorism is an issue as it is now; Russia is not an issue (as far as Poland-Lithuania is concerned). Relations with neighbors are good (though Latvia gets sent as a go-between for Estonia and Lithuania just out of original cool relations that turned into habit and convenience).

Personality: Probably the first impression of Lithuania most people get is "pushover". He's mild-mannered and will go a long way to make peaceful compromises. It's obvious between Poland and Lithuania, loud and bossy Poland dominates. Lithuania's skill at cooking and cleaning (goodness knows Poland won't do it and someone has to) sometimes make him seem more like a housewife than anything.

Interacting with Lithuania on anything serious reveals a different side of him, however. He's confident in a quiet sort of way; when it comes to his spheres of influence, he expects to be listened to and sees no reason he should have to make annoying demands or raise his voice. This isn't to say he's incapable of obvious anger, simply he doesn't feel he needs to use it often in his regular interactions.

In battle, Lithuania gains what has been called a "battle aura". He is a powerful leader in a fight, good at raising morale amongst his troops and willing to lead the charge alongside them. He fights seriously whenever he fights, doing what it takes to win for his people. Deception is to be expected, and only fools follow all the rules. He is not needlessly cruel, but he could be called ruthless when it counts. He's a bit scary to fight in a battle.

Lithuania is also very protective of those within his country--his people, of course, but also the regions with in it, in particular Latvia. He considers the regions his responsibility, and doesn't take kindly to others bullying them (he's the only one allowed to tease Latvia except for when she goes to Estonia's sometimes, okay). He's protective of Poland as well, but not in the same way; they're equal partners, and Lithuania usually trusts Poland to take care of things. Just... Sometimes Poland is Poland.

Overall, though, Lithuania is gentle. He doesn't wish to go into war, though he will if he has to, but he's never really eliminated his farming state roots, meaning he's quite at home in the gardens at home happily growing things or taking care of animals. He's calmed down quite a bit compared to his childhood of looting and territory grabbing.

Abilities: Lithuania is a nation; while this usually means no injuries will stick unless it's an attack on the nation itself, in Animus it will just mean he's harder to kill and is a bit stronger, faster, etc. than a human. Lithuania himself has a ridiculously strong pain tolerance.

Sample Entry: dear mun conversation!

1333 Benny Road; 4am {Closed to Olivier}

[Lithuania woke early out of habit even in times of peace. In a time like this, he was awake even earlier than usual, pacing the house restlessly but staying away from the windows. The fear had abated somewhat once he killed his target, but he had been worrying since this began--no hallucinations, at least, was better than nothing.

He wished vaguely for a sword--it was a bit ridiculous, given its lack of use compared to guns, but it was familiar, and the machete wasn't quite the same. Well, maybe he'd get one back. But a machine gun or something would probably be more useful.]

Phone; 6am (Closed to Estonia}
Hey, hey, Estija?

[His tone is--not exactly chirpy, but almost sing-song. A dull sort of sing-song, though.]

[Logically, Lithuania knew about what the town was capable of. Logically, he remembered everything that happened in March and April, he remembered Valentine's Day, and he knew that inserting terror into his brain should be possible. But it did nothing to stop the vulture's grip on his heart, the feeling of his people dying by the hundreds, by the thousands, because he couldn't do something as simple as killing a few people who had nothing to do with him.

Had he not been willing to go to war for his people in the past? Always. He'd always do that. So he can't take it anymore, he just can't. It's easier once he finally decides; the indecision slides off and there's only the realization that he has a mission to do. Think of it as war. Simple. He will defend his people. He will always defend his people.

He feels better than he has in a while.]

A; 1333 Benny Road; Monday Morning
[Lithuania had been looking tired, but he's full of purpose now. He can't let these people get into danger if he dies, either; they have nothing to do with this and he's grown fond of them besides.]

I have to go out for a bit. I left a gun in the living room. Don't touch it unless you absolutely have to. I should be back soon, alright?

[He smiles.]

B; Keiichi's office; Monday morning {closed to Keiichi}
[He'd cornered and quizzed drones for some time. Keiichi Maebara was a counselor at the school. Maybe he could have asked the children living at his house, hah. Not that he would get them involved, of course.

Sunday was spent sneaking into the school and figuring out where Keiichi's office was. And loosening a window. Monday morning before anyone was there he broke in, replaced the window, and waited in the chair for Keiichi. Hopefully he could get him with one shot--he didn't want to torture the man or anything. Keiichi had done nothing wrong. It wasn't fair.

For his people, though, he would become any sort of monster. He waited.]

[Lithuania spent the day inside, and asked those in his house to do the same. He had weapons--a couple of guns he'd bought in Mayfield--but his sword and his nation body were gone, which left him feeling particularly vulnerable. That he seemed to be the only one who had received a letter in the house made him feel marginally better, except that anyone who came for him might hurt them as well.

The photos--he couldn't stop looking at those. Shots of various places in Lithuania, large cities and small villages, all the people he would do anything to protect. It had to be a ruse, it had to be false, that Mayfield could do something on such a grand scale had to be impossible. He hung desperately onto that hope.]

A; 1333 Benny Road
[The doors and windows are locked and the curtains are closed. He's asked everyone to stay inside--and he at least plans on attempting to enforce this with Lyra and Madoka. He's been on and off the phone all day, but mostly he's been moving nervously around the house and glancing at the door over and over.]

B; Phone {Filtered to Estonia}
Be careful, alright?

Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Lithuania is pretty tall, really, though a bit thinner than he should be for his height. He's not so thin as to be unhealthy-looking, and it's muscle beneath that skin, but he doesn't really look intimidating.

⒉ How old is he?
This depends on where you start counting. Lithuania as a Baltic tribe was "born" around the first century AD (this marks the time his (proto-)language split from the main Baltic language), and grew via conquering and absorbing tribes around him. It's unclear when he became a nation properly, although the first mention of him as Lithuania was in 1009 (and hence he celebrated 1000 years as Lithuania in 2009).

⒊ Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Lithuania carries himself well. His footsteps are lighter than you might expect--he has a bit of a servant's air at times, sliding into the background easily.

⒋ How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Lithuania's a bit shaky lately, escape from Russia only about twenty years in the past and with economic troubles hitting him hard. Still, he doesn't act ill or weak, instead preferring to put on a calm manner. He's not out of shape, and trains regularly. He has deep scars all along his back which have been known to ache, but he pretends those aren't there.

⒌ How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Lithuania is surprisingly graceful in his movements normally and in battle, moving from one movement to the next easily when he's calm. When afraid or stressed, however, he tenses up to the point he shakes from how stiff he is.

⒍ How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Lithuania's probably a bit more on the pretty side than the handsome one, really. He's got hair that falls almost to his shoulders and very green eyes, still with a bit of that knight air. He doesn't think about his looks, however, being far more occupied with what he considers more important things. He assumes he's fairly average.

⒎ Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Lithuania's fairly fair-skinned, with a clear enough complextion to look at normally. His hands are a bit rougher than one might expect of him, as he still works with a sword out of habit and does most repair work around the house on his own. His back is covered with deep scars that he keeps hidden.

⒏ Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Lithuania has straight brown hair that falls around his shoulders. It's thick enough that he can ponytail it, which he does when he's fighting or cooking or otherwise needs his hair out of the way, but usually it's kept loose.

⒐ What color are his eyes?
Lithuania's eyes are bright green.

⒑ Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Not aside from the scars.

⒒ What are his chief tension centers?
His stomach is the worst--it's the one sure sign he's having troubles, when he's popping pills for his stomachaches. He also has tension gather up in his back, though.

⒓ What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Lithuania's clothes tend toward dark, earthy colors, although he also wears blues, reds, and golds at times. He focuses on practicality over form, so most of his wardrobe consists of various kinds of dress clothes, given his jobs involving politics. Aside from that he has more worn in clothes for work around the house, and a couple aprons.

⒔ Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Lithuania is comfortable in what he wears; he's been wearing any sort of outfit he's used to long enough that he hardly thinks about being dressed up or down anymore. He rarely has clothes specially tailored, but they all fit.

⒕ Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Lithuania wears business outfits to his jobs, as he's essentially working in politics, and whatever uniforms his military wears during times of war, so yes, he does change when he has free time, even if it's just taking off a suitjacket and rolling up his sleeves a bit. He doesn't really have anything except slacks, though.

⒖ You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Boxers.

SPEECH.

⒈What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
I actually think the tone of Lithuania's Japanese voice actor works really well for him. He can also sing very well.

⒉ How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Lithuania tends to be softspoken and just a bit on the hesitant side, moreso when he gets nervous. When he gets angry or fed up his voice jumps up a couple octaves and he starts yelling, though. In a leadership position he's loud and confident in tone, almost daring anyone to disagree.

⒊ Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Around his people, Lithuania falls pretty automatically into whichever dialect they use. There are two primary dialects of Lithuanian, Highland (Aukštaitian) and Lowland (Samogitian). These are each split into three subdialects: Highland into West, Dainavian, and East, and Lowland into West, North, and South. In formal situations Lithuania will tend toward standard Lithuanian, which is more derived from Western Aukštaitian dialects. If he's just talking, he tends toward the Vilnius sub-dialect of eastern Aukštaitian, with some Western Aukštaitian accents (sub-dialect of Kaunas, specifically). He has a bit of a Dzūkian bent because his dž tends to sound like dz.

When startled or surprised, tends to make drawn-out noises like "ehhh" and the like.

⒋ What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Lithuania's primary language is Lithuanian, of course--he can speak all versions of it. In order of fluency, he also knows Russian, Polish, English, Latvian, Estonian, enough German to get by if he needs to, and smatterings of other nearby languages.

He does not speak Russian unless he absolutely has to. Same with Polish, actually.

⒌ Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Lithuania will usually speak whatever is easiest for whoever he's speaking to. Exception: he will not speak Russian with Russia, and in fact may start speaking in obscure old Lithuanian dialects if he's really annoyed at having to deal with him. He doesn't speak Polish much, either, preferring standard "common country language" when talking to Poland. Sometimes Lithuanian words will slip out if Lithuania is startled enough, and occasionally when he's lost in thought or otherwise not really focused on talking to someone else he'll refer to other countries by the names they would have in Lithuanian.

⒍ Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Lithuania prefers giving his words thought, but he is fairly easily provoked into blurting out things he really shouldn't be saying. If called to give a speech without preparation, he can actually preform well, and is generally good under that sort of pressure.

⒎ Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Lithuania is not particularly eloquent, more of a plain speaker, saying what he means and not going about being fancy with his wording. He is, however, usually careful of how he says things, and can pick his way around a sentence fairly competently.

That said, get him flustered enough and he's just likely to wail and call you a bastard. His roots do not lie in high society.

MENTAL & EMOTIONAL.

⒈ How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Lithuania has both book-smarts and street-smarts, but it may be surprising to some to know his intelligence tends toward the latter. He's a practical person, generally, and his circumstances have led to him knowing a lot about how to survive and work around dire circumstances. Lately, however, he's been really interested in biotechnology.

⒉ Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Lithuania prefers time to deliberate, come up with plans and contingencies, and feel confident with his decision. That said, he is good at thinking on his feet, and tends toward the philosophy that while a plan is good, it often won't go off right. He's adaptable and reacts well under pressure simply from having lived with it for so long.

⒊ Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Lithuania is usually logical and practical in his thought processes, possibly to the point of being considered cynical or pessimistic. he's used to things going wrong and having to deal with the fallout, so he often thinks about those things. He will trust a strong gut feeling, however.

Romantically, he is the most idealistic thing possibly ever. It takes a crazy amount of negative to shatter his hopes even for an instant, and he's good at building them back up again.

⒋ What kind of education has the character had?
As a child Lithuania didn't receive any sort of formal education, picking up bits and pieces from his people as he went along. He was generally considered uncultured until Poland came along, although he still resents the Polonization that took place. He places importance in keeping up with the times, especially lately when he's trying to move away from Russia and become westernized. By this point he's well-educated, having dropped in on various courses in various Lithuanian colleges over the years, though technically it's not as if he's been through a formal education process.

⒌ What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Lately, Lithuania's been interested in biotechnology! He makes really good lasers, too. Lithuania has long since adapted to being a soldier, and he's good on the battlefield, able to work with most weapons but excelling with a sword. He's also a good farmer, though that is taking a backseat to westernizing lately.

⒍ Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Lithuania is introverted, although he doesn't always come across that way. He is the least introverted of the Baltics, so part of it is simply comparison, but too much dealing with too many loud people exhausts him. He's friendly and willing to help those around him, but he needs his alone time.

⒎ Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Lithuania does his best to maintain an even temper, and is very patient at least in part out of necessity. He'll put up with a lot and put up with it in silence, though this is because he's incredibly proud and doesn't want pity or help when he's certain he can succeed on his own. He tends toward the melancholy, however, although he's not really aware of it most of the time.

⒏ How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Lithuania is friendly and helpful to those he meets unless they give him reason not to be, but he is always at least a bit suspicious. His trust is hard to really earn, and Lithuania is often waiting for the other shoe to drop on his good interactions. He's been burned a lot in the past, after all. Still, he does his best to hide this side of himself.

⒐ Is he more likely to act, or to react?
He can do either, but Lithuania hates reacting. He's done too much of it for too long, and he prefers to drive his own fate.

⒑ Which is his default: fight or flight?
Fight. Fight, fight, fight, until he's on the ground half-crushed. And then still keep fighting. It's not always an obvious sort of fighting, but Lithuania is stubborn and proud, and he refuses to let himself remain trampled. Even against extraordinary odds, he will not give up and will never give up unless he's entirely, permanantly killed.

⒒ Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Lithuania's humor is a bit on the dry, sarcastic side, and he often comes across as very serious because of this. He likes riddles and plays on words.

⒓ Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
—

⒔ What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Lithuania's original expansion, the formation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Russian subjugation for so long, his freedom from this subjugation.

⒕ What does he fear?
Lithuania fears subjucation and death. He cares for his people more than anything, and the idea of having them killed or turned into something else terrifies him. What's even more terrifying to him is the idea of being transformed from within until he's not really Lithuania anymore, just some subset of some other country, and having him not notice because that's how his people are now.

While he hates more than is afraid of this, he does fear pity, a little. He fears being someone who deserves pity; he doesn't want to be that sort of person.

⒖ What are his hopes or aspirations?
Lithuania wishes for his people to thrive and to be respected on an international level.

⒗ What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
Lithuania doesn't want anyone to know about the scars on his back--he doesn't want pity.

RELATIONSHIPS.

⒈ Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Lithuania is a nation, so he doesn't have parents. He raised himself, and this helped instill in him his pride and sense of independence that's been basically impossible to crush.

⒉ Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Latvia and Estonia are not actually Lithuania's siblings, so he actually doesn't have any. Lately he has been treating them a bit more like siblings, though, and he is fond of them. They tend to be all over the place, however, and will put their own needs first.

⒊ Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
The other Baltic people don't really exist anymore, so...

⒋ Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
As I mentioned before, Estonia and Latvia he does consider family. Poland--it's complicated with Poland. Sometimes he considers Poland family, sometimes he doesn't. Right now he and Poland aren't really getting along.

⒌ Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Eh... Most would say Poland, but they have a history of fighting very angrily with each other. Lithuania doesn't hate Poland entirely, though, he just wants Poland to back off and stop trying to make Lithuania change things in his country.

⒍ Does he have other close friends?
Lithuania is friends with America, and considers him a fun person to be around, reminding him in some ways of himself when he was younger and a European power. They get along well.

⒎ Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Lithuania doesn't have trouble getting along with people, but he doesn't make friends easily, either. He's a bit suspicious and it takes time to earn his trust.

⒏ Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
If we view his people as family--as his children, specifically--then of course family is always more important. His people will always come first.

⒐ Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was more of a roommate situation. However, there was Litbel. Yeah, Lithuania and Belarus were kind of married for a few months.

⒑ Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
No.

⒒ Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Belarus Belarus Belarus

⒓ What does he look for in a romantic partner?
BELARUS. Okay, okay, he prefers elegence, grace, and a bit of a princess thing. Blond hair is good, and a lighter complexion. And kni--wait no.

⒔ Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
Lithuania considers his people his children. He is very protective of them and adores them, as he's a nation. He'd do absolutely anything for them.

⒕ Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Russia comes to mind first. After so many years of being controlled by Russia Lithuania almost instinctively has a distaste for anything that reminds him of the other nation (except Belarus, for some reason). He doesn't want to have to deal with Russia. Of course, he does have to, since you can't just close your eyes and pretend Russia went away, but he hates having to do it. He doesn't quite hate Russia-the-personification, though. He almost pities him. But the dislike is way stronger.

Poland! Yeah, he gets to be under this and the friend category, he's special. Poland is bossy, and always has been, and they're not really getting along lately. This goes back basically to the beginning of their interactions. They fought with each other before they became a Commonwealth, Lithuania grew to resent how the nobility of the Commonwealth was primarily Polish and his people were peasants, his language considered lesser, there was the Vilnius issue (it's very complicated, both sides still have different views on this. In Lithuania's opinion, Poland came in after World War I and stole Vilnius, Lithuania's capital, and then forced him to resume normal relations. Lithuania actually agreed to let Russia put military bases in Lithuania in exchage for the return of Vilnius. It was a big deal, it wasn't formally settled until the nineties). Lately Poland's protesting certain ways the Lithuanian government handles Polish names and general treatment of the Polish minority, and Lithuania is fighting this at least in part due to a refusal to have anyone else mess with the way his government works. No, they're not really happy sparkly bffs. But Lithuania can't really hate Poland-the-person, and they are probably friendlier than their nations are. Still, Lithuania will back his nation before Poland, of course.

⒖ What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
Lithuania is a two. He's too caught up on Belarus for it to really matter, though.

⒗ How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Lithuania doesn't really think about it much. He's not a virgin, but it doesn't often factor into anything. He doesn't have many strong opinions either way about sex.

⒘ What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Lithuania likes control, and of course dislikes lack of it, being tied up, general helplessness. He doesn't take his shirt off. He also cuddles, though that's just a general habit when he's sleepy.

BELIEFS.

⒈ Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
Lithuania is Aquarius (though he used to be Cancer, oh countries). It does in some ways fit (...so does Cancer), but he doesn't put much stock in that sort of thing.

⒉ Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Lithuania is Catholic, as his people are Catholic to a vast majority (79%). He is fairly private about it, and does not look down on others based on this sort of thing. Religion is important to him for many reasons, not least of which being the Catholic church helped preserve his culture and resist Russia during the Cold War.

⒊ Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Lithuania is a fan of chivalry, and tries his best to be polite in general. He sees no reason to fight when it can be avoided or be unnecessarily cruel. Of course he is against torture.

He is, however, a nation with people to protect, and that is the only situation in which these morals are compromised. If he thought it necessary for the preservation of his people, he would do whatever was necessary, regardless of his own thoughts. Compared to the preservation of his people, as far as Lithuania is concerned, his own wellbeing and opinions don't matter. That might be a code of ethics, too, really.

⒋ How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Lithuania tends to be tolerant of other beliefs, although those that vary to the degree of being directly opposite may gain distaste.

⒌ What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
Lithuania has a dislike for anything Russian, due to centuries of Russian subjugation. He has a bit of this for some Polish things as well, for fear of Poland worming into his government again.

DAILY LIFE.

⒈ What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Lithuania isn't doing so well lately. There's a large gap between rich and poor, and the recession hit him hard. He refused EU loans, however, possibly in part out of pride. He considers himself better off than he was with Russia; this thought often keeps him going.

⒉ What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
Lithuania now is a small country often hardly known by the world. Once, he was one of the largest countries in Europe, a European power. In between this, he wasn't even a country, but instead unwillingly a part of Russia. He values his freedom greatly as a result--he always has, but having it taken from him increased its worth to him. He does miss being influential, and would jump at the chance to be so again, but his thoughts are more toward never getting taken by Russia again.

⒊ Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
Lithuania lives in a small house, but it's his house, and he's fond of it. It's cozy, and he's personalized it to a great degree. It's kept very clean--he's just a little bit less than a neat freak. He lives alone, except for a couple of dogs.

⒋ Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Lithuania is frugal, and tends to save rather than spend. That said, he has quite a book collection, and his dogs probably have a few too many toys.

⒌ What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
Lithuania's job is... Being Lithuania. He loves it, he loves his people, he'd rather die than be anything else. He does a good job as a nation, taking the job seriously and doing his best.

⒍ What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
Lithuania enjoys reading, martial arts (he's not really good at any specific kind but he thinks they're interesting), and being out in nature. He tends to spend time on his own, and when he has enough time off he'll disappear into the forests for days.

⒎ What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
Lithuania can get a bit caught up in things and forget to eat, but he never intentionally skips meals. He's not exactly a gourmet but he's picky, and he'll cook for himself if he can because he prefers things certain ways, although he can put up with anything.
[Lithuania had received his sword just a little after Valentine's Day. And it was definitely his, a bit worn and old, but the same grip he remembered from when it was in use long ago. It's not quite a gun--though he did buy one of those recently--but there's something comforting about it anyway. Swords don't run out of ammunition. So he figures a bit of practice wouldn't hurt, and went to the park where he could get some space.

He never really got out of practice. Swords were something he'd worked with long enough in his formative years that the idea of stopping hadn't ever quite gotten to him, and his movements are natural, sliding from one to the next against imagined foes. He strikes as if they were really there, letting himself get used to the weight and swing again. The differences between his human body and nation body were subtle, but even the subtleties mattered to him with this sort of thing.

He's not looking his usual gentle, somewhat occasionally scattered self, either. His face is just this side of looking angry, his movements precise. He's not sure how long he's been practicing but it's been long enough that his thoughts are entirely focused on his task, and not the fact that he might look a bit too serious for something that's just practice.

He slices a few branches off an unfortunate tree for lack of anything else to aim for.]

[Evented or not, Lithuania's wandering the park on his own today--his birthday. Being away from home feels awkward, none of his people are here and he feels like he should be doing things when he's so lacking in resources. He'll spend time with Koharu later, he supposes, which will make things a bit better, or at least provide a distraction. Maybe he could make a cake for himself or something.

It's just not the same without his people, and that he can't even feel them due to being human leaves a gaping emptiness in him. He's humming his anthem without realizing.]

I wish I had my flag...

[Lithuania is at the bakery, finishing up his shift and hardly on the ground as far as his mind goes--everything he's baking is turning out in pink and red and white hearts, and Lithuania's never been one to have a sweet tooth so this is actually fairly unusual. Hopefully you weren't looking for regular bread. He's looking through a cookbook and is in a spectacularly good mood.]

I wonder which she'd like better...
