Kurosawa's swan song, his semi final film, is probably his most somber quiet melancholic film.

45 years after nuclear Armaggedon wiped Nagasaki off the map and 35 years after Kurosawa himself made one of the greatest films on nuclear war with I LIVE IN FEAR, the master returns again to the subject which most frightened him throughout his life. He is not that interested in "why" the bomb was dropped, more so to the reactions of those it affected.
