★★★★½ Rewatched

This is tougher on rewatch as you know exactly what happens at the end.

Plot: Keiko (YOU, in her film debut) moves into a small apartment with her 12-year-old son, Akira (Yuya Yagira). Not sure whether it is because of Koji Yakusho’s acting, Wim Wender’s directing or both, but I am totally captivated watching the nothingness of the plot. If they make it a series, I think I can watch all five or seven seasons of this.

The third act really dragged down the entire film with the weird storyline despite Sylvia Zhang’s presence. Would have given the first two thirds a solid four stars otherwise.
