Maya Deren is a name that deserves to me more well-known than it is. On the Venn diagram of Art and Filmmaking, she easily sits more into the 'art' camp than most filmmakers, but her influence is undeniable in arthouse cinema of the last century. Chris Rock: "EDDIE MURPHY IS THE GREATEST PERSON TO HAVE EVER LIVED, AND HE IS THE REASON SNL HAS SURVIVED AS LONG AS IT HAS. BOW TO THE GREAT AND POWERFUL EDDIE MURPHY AND WORSHIP THE GROUND UPON WHICH HE WALKS."

This may not be the cinematic masterpiece my seven-year-old mind would have had me believe.
You know what? Fuck you, yes it is.
