Truly did not expect this and "Dunkirk" to end the same way.
Despite its flaws (some of them almost hurtful, like blatant sexism, misogyny and homophobia - but it is based in the 60's so I can almost forgive it as it's "the times") I adore this movie. It's a character based, rock and roll fueled, riot.
What it lacks in actual plot, it's through characterisation and genuine laughs, that it makes up for it in spades. There's a fantastic list of actors in this comedy, including but not limited to; Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Nick Frost, Katherine Parkinson, Chris O'Dowd, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, Jack Davenport, Rhys Darby...................... and it goes on - they are all great and seem as though they are genuinely having a good time…
literally a wet dream for incels
this film is so uncomfortably sexist and even tries to pass off a rape scene as funny and quirky, it is a film about music but none of the characters actually really seem to like music that much. as horrible, uncomfortable and cringy this was for me, the characters were very three dimensional and I know this because I spent the majority of the film thinking how if I knew them in real life I wouldn’t like them. carl is literally every guy I’ve spoken to on tinder that thinks they’re a ‘nice guy’ because girls won’t sleep with them and thinks liking music makes up for not having a personality. despite this, even…
It's a real shame that such a phenomenal cast was assembled to tell such an interesting story with such a fantastic soundtrack, and that it's thoroughly undone by a toothless, silly, misogynistic script. At least it looks like everybody's having a lot of fun making it.
